Aromas of lemon, pineapple, herbs/eucalyptus, straw, and vanilla notes. Dry, medium(+) acidity, medium alcohol and medium(+) body. Palate of lemon, lemon peel, roasted pineapple, toast, dried flowers, wood notes. Smooth, creamy texture. Good length clean well-cut finish. (1142 views) | | Tasted by PapaT54 on 1/6/2019: Good with ham - pineapple & orange glaze (968 views) | | Tasted by Les Kangas on 1/5/2019 & rated 92 points: Beautiful wine. Drank in Reidel chard glasses over two days. Aired it 1/2 hour before drinking the first day and the second day was good, so this could evolve further. (988 views) | | Tasted by ziavino on 5/26/2018 & rated 90 points: Melon and pear on the nose and palate, with ample hazelnut and vanilla flavors poking through. Medium acidity keeps it fresh and lively. Delicious. (1345 views) | | Tasted by sdwineguru on 4/20/2018 & rated 88 points: Not a great $19 wine. Light mid-green gold; peachy, stone fruit, vanilla nose; mid-body; soft acids; long soft finish; a little flabby. w/appetizers. (1052 views) | | Tasted by Babik on 3/5/2018 & rated 88 points: PNP. A perfectly adequate chard. No too much malo, had a little bit of everything (minerality, citrus, body). Good QPR. (1119 views) | | Tasted by mitiman2003 on 2/2/2018 & rated 90 points: Pale yellow color with excellent clarity. Fresh fruit and oak on the nose — apples, pears, peaches — and some minerality. Apples, pears, and oak in the mouth. Crisp, well-balanced. Overall, very good. (1081 views) | | Tasted by La Cave d'Argent on 12/30/2017 & rated 88 points: This straw-colored Chardonnay was entirely barrel-fermented in French oak (32% new). Full malolactic fermentation gives it a soft, creamy texture that carries through from start to finish. Pear, tropical fruit, vanilla and fig aromas are followed by similar flavors, framed with moderate oak and accents of spice. The middle palate is nicely dense and there is good persistence on the back end; however, this wine's paucity of acidity is a detriment. Drink now-2021. (1447 views) | | Tasted by TashNYC on 11/11/2017 & rated 90 points: I was looking for a California chardonnay to pair with grilled swordfish and this fit the bill. It was textbook Sonoma chardonnay, with stone fruits, honeysuckle (the winery notes called this chamomile) and some creminess on the finish. Not too oaky. It was also good with the wild rice with chicken stock and ok with broiled chicken with herbs. Good value at $18. Drink now or age 12 months (855 views) | | Tasted by Doblk on 10/31/2017 & rated 89 points: Well put together Sonoma Chardonnay. Stone fruit, oak, and acid punch. While there, I didn’t find the Malo and cream elements so prominent, which for me is a plus. (838 views) | | Tasted by WineTally on 9/16/2017: 100% Chardonnay 86% Alexander Valley, 13% Bennett Valley 100% fermented and aged in fine grained French oak (32% new) for ten months; full malolactic fermentation. 14% Abv.
A(ccuracy)=2: Straw yellow. Mealy, yeasty varietal. B(alance) =2: Fruit forward with good acid backbone. C(omplexity)=2: Apple, pears, candied ginger, smoke. D(epth) = 1 : Creamy, mid length and finish.

N: Attractive toasty, buttery, & DISTINCTLY smoky notes
P: MF bod; Rndish entry with almost swtish oak/frt & a bracing acidity that morphs into a fairly LONG, ult very slightly, oakily harsh finish. Better on the N & front/early mid-P than finish, though poss others would not be as troubled by what stuck me as a potentially severe finish by the bye. 92 pts WS & 92 WE @ $26. [No longer avail @ this vendor's tasted $18.99, as of early Feb '19 wine-searcher still shows vendors ranging from $18-$25.] (460 views) | | Tasted by isaacjamesbaker on 8/1/2016 & rated 86 points: Blind CA Wines: Medium gold color. Smells of juicy pears, yellow apple and apricot jam with some nutty and butterscotch elements as well. Plump texture on the palate, this is a richly creamy wine but some slight acidity keeps it from feeling too heavy. Juicy apricot and bruised apple fruit mixes with nougat, peanut shell and butterscotch elements. Not too toasty or rich, but plenty of those big, delicious Chardonnay elements in this wine. Fermented in about 40% new French oak with full maloactic fermentation. (1573 views) |

| Matanzas Creek Winery Producer WebsiteChardonnay The Chardonnay GrapeUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Sonoma CountyMendocino CountySonoma CountySonoma Coast |
