Tasted by onboisduvin on 11/7/2020 & rated 90 points: Relatively plain as this is made by Lafon. (2036 views)
Tasted by emiam on 4/18/2020 & rated 82 points: oxydé (2066 views)
Tasted by hprphf on 1/15/2020 & rated 93 points: Colour is more advanced, but time in decanter saved the bottle. Somehow very fresh on the palate with subtle flower notes and bright pear fruit. Sweet long finish. 93 (2288 views)
Tasted by dbkitc on 12/21/2019 flawed bottle: Last 3 oxidized. Crap (2283 views)
Tasted by dbkitc on 5/13/2019 flawed bottle: Second oxidized bottle in past few months. Infuriating. (2485 views)
Tasted by vmad on 4/16/2019 flawed bottle: Vi drakk den opp selv om den ikke smakte som vi håpet. Gyllen farge. Smak av oksidert eple og sherrytoner; som en avansert eplemost med alkohol. Har ikke referanser på hvordan en god flaske burde ha smakt. (1661 views)
Tasted by dbkitc on 3/19/2019 flawed bottle: Oxidized - bummer (1706 views)
Tasted by aquacongas on 1/27/2019 flawed bottle: Premox (1796 views)
Tasted by Topper on 12/27/2018: Badly premoxed. Down the sink. (1715 views)
Tasted by liber on 12/21/2018 flawed bottle: 6th of 12, totally POXED!!! (1377 views)
Tasted by Burgundy Al on 12/8/2018 flawed bottle: Fourteenth Annual White Truffle Dinner (Chez Weber - Chicago IL): In Lafon Charmes 96/02/05/07 vertical. An odd bottle that started out nicely, even if simple. This quickly became less interesting or even balanced. Some thought VA, but most of us were not sure what was going wrong here. (2094 views)
Tasted by Wine2372 on 8/26/2018 & rated 92 points: Deep gold-orange, with an almond-brioche sauvage nose. Attractive, rich palate of dried tropical fruit, yellow apple and peach, balanced with a vivid acidity and remarkably long finish. At 13 years, this is a gorgeous Burgundy chardonnay in its prime. A lovely, satisfying wine. (1422 views)
Tasted by liber on 7/12/2018 flawed bottle: 5th of 12 and yet again brown/orange, POXED, undrinkable.....grrrrh! (1706 views)
Tasted by liber on 3/6/2018 flawed bottle: 4th of 12, dark and POXED!!!! (1916 views)
Tasted by ricknat1 on 1/21/2018 & rated 93 points: Big, long and powerful. Great minerality, freshness with bold charmes flavors. Well balanced with long rich finish. Perfect, with crab cakes (2007 views)
Tasted by liber on 1/15/2018 & rated 86 points: 3rd of 12, pnp, perfect cork and level - light gold, leggy; peachy, hint of tropical fruit, bit musty and odd, little minerality and zip; medium bodied, long, bit clumsy though concentrated, slightly cloying, hint of POX, drink. At best G+ (15.5)......though I suspect any totally clean bottle will merit much higher mark. (1945 views)
Tasted by liber on 1/9/2018 flawed bottle: 1st and 2nd of 12, pnp, orange, totally poxed, sinked! (1895 views)
Tasted by L-C. on 1/1/2018: From memory: luminous amber colour; medium intensive nose of dried fruit, hazelnut, some sous-bois and underlying lemon notes. In the mouth medium bodied, round, great citrus-hazelnut/butter flavour that lasts very long. Not the revelation I expected, given the steep price, but a very good Meursault; can’t say whether it has aged prematurely. In any case a very good match with Monkfish and beurre noisette. (1594 views)
Tasted by Cipivts on 12/30/2017 & rated 94 points: Deep gold orange, yeasty, mineral, oranges, showing signs of early oxidation, but pristine on the palate, high acidity and very complex minerality, flowers, stones. Amazing long finish, a great wine (1388 views)
Tasted by ricknat1 on 3/4/2017 & rated 93 points: Great minerality, freshness with bold charmed flavors. Well balanced with long rich finish (2599 views)
Tasted by Collector1855 on 2/6/2017 & rated 98 points: Wow! I am not a Chardonnay fan, very rarely buy and drink it as I don’t like the citrus/toast/butter aroma blend of Chard, even all the way up to Montrachet. This wine is completely different. Intensely mineralic nose, almost like a Riesling from Nahe, very deep aromas, gun flint, flowers as well. The best Chard I can recall and a great white wine by any measure. (3567 views)
Tasted by NostraBacchus on 2/3/2017 & rated 96 points: I am very happy that I had a different experience from some of the other posters here... heartbreaking to see so many flawed bottles. This one was pristine.
Explosive aromatics of chalk/slate, vanilla and other sweet spices, sweet lemon, white blossoms, also some buttery notes and a touch of smoke. But what is really striking it the beautiful minerality. It's pretty full bodied, dense but elegant at the same time with beautiful medium+ acidity. Very good length with a touch of bitterness adding even more complexity. A super impressive aged Meursault from this fantastic producer. (3089 views)
Tasted by Burgundy Al on 3/31/2016 & rated 88 points: Lafon 1er Cru and Méo-Camuzet Vosne-Romanée Aux Brulées Dinner (Les Nomades - Chicago IL): Ripe fruit, somewhat tired and lacking energy. An eminently drinkable and enjoyable bottle of wine I'd have gladly continued drinking...if not for other wines being served alongside and in subsequent flights. (4081 views)
Tasted by burgburgburg on 9/21/2015: Extremely tight and shut down. I can only find mineral in it with very very little of fruits. For bottles in good condition, decant is a must right down. Or... just cellar it for 2-3 years. (3888 views)
Tasted by latimer on 5/11/2015 flawed bottle: Yet another Lafon oxidised, yet more money down the drain for nothing... (3290 views)

Burgundy

Les vins de Bourgogne (Bureau interprofessionnel des vins de Bourgogne) (and in English)

Burgundy - The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay. (Small of amounts of Gamay and Aligoté are still grown, although these have to be labeled differently.) The most famous part of the region is known as the Cote d'Or (the Golden Slope). It is divided into the Cote de Beaune, south of the town of Beaune (famous principally for its whites), and the Cote de Nuits, North of Beaune (home of the most famous reds). In addition, the Cote Chalonnaise and the Maconnais are important wine growing regions, although historically a clear level (or more) below the Cote d'Or. Also included by some are the regions of Chablis and Auxerrois, farther north.

# 2013 Vintage Notes:
* "2013 is a vintage that 20 years ago would have been a disaster." - Will Lyons
* "low yields and highly variable reds, much better whites." - Bill Nanson
* "Virtually all wines were chaptalised, with a bit of sugar added before fermentation to increase the final alcohol level." - Jancis Robinson

# 2014 Vintage Notes:
"We have not had such splendid harvest weather for many years. This will ensure high quality (fragrant, classy and succulent are words already being used) across the board, up and down the hierarchy and well as consistently from south to north geographically apart from those vineyards ravaged by the hail at the end of June." - Clive Coates

# 2015 Vintage Notes:
"Low yields and warm weather allowed for ample ripeness, small berries and an early harvest. Quality is looking extremely fine, with some people whispering comparisons with the outstanding 2005 vintage. Acid levels in individual wines may be crucial." - Jancis Robinson

# 2017 Vintage Notes:
"Chablis suffered greatly from frost in 2017, resulting in very reduced volumes. As ever, the irony seems to be that what remains is very good quality, as it is in the Côte d’Or. Cooler nights across the region have resulted in higher-than-usual acidity, with good conditions throughout the harvest season allowing for ripe, healthy fruit." - Jancis Robinson

# 2018 Vintage Notes:
"The most successful region for red Burgundy in 2018 was the Côte de Beaune. The weather was ideal in this area, with just enough sunlight and rain to produce perfectly balanced wines naturally." - Vinfolio
