Tasted by blgros on 3/31/2024 & rated 92 points: Elegant style. Not a fruit bomb. Subtle but complex (79 views)
Tasted by WimHH on 12/25/2023 & rated 91 points: Full bodied, powerful wine. Good PQR. (180 views)
Tasted by caspernick on 12/31/2022 & rated 93 points: For an eight year old wine, there is still plenty of opaque purple color, albeit with some garnet showing on the rim of this Napa Cabernet which ws served from a Double Magnum, aka a Jeroboam of wine. Slow moving legs and a bit of staining on the walls give me clues of what to expect. The nose has ample primary fruit aromas of black plum, blackberry, cassis, menthol, eucalyptus, black raspberry and cherry cola. Baked black fruit hints are starting to emerge as this wine starts its evolution. It's still youthful with lots of cellaring ahead. The palate is dry with medium acidity and medium tannins that are super smooth and fine grained. Very rich black fruit flavors with some oak treatment caress my mouth, the spices and vanilla very faint. It's very balanced and smooth with a medium body and medium length finish. I really like the fact that it is still rather primal yet the structure has really mellowed out and is a seamless play of acidity, balance and alcohol on a medium weight wine. Delicious and worthy of 93 points from me. A regular bottle will run you $45 making this a 5 star effort that has rewarded medium-term cellaring and will drink beautifully till 2028.

Tasted by brasstab on 9/4/2020 & rated 93 points: Plush and supple and round. Classic Napa cab flavors. Enjoyed with pork chops, blackberry sauce and the friends who gifted us the bottle. (1643 views)
Tasted by Dave Dewar on 8/20/2020: Second of two bottles. Dark ruby, clear. Aromas and flavours of red fruits and spice. Medium body, medium tannin, medium acid. Good with steak. Not much evolution in the past 18 months, this can last a good while yet. (1597 views)
Tasted by lundmc on 10/6/2019 & rated 90 points: Really nice, especially at this price point. The attack is soft and builds. Feels plush, almost merlot-like. Fruit and some flower, nice sustained flow to the pleasant fading finish. (2120 views)
Tasted by tammyd180 on 6/12/2019 & rated 90 points: Smooth and not a lot of tannins (1859 views)
Tasted by Baron Slick on 6/10/2019 & rated 90 points: A solid Napa Cab made more impressive by how widely available this is. Black currant, cocoa, and dried violet aromas pick up attractive tones of rubber and smoke. Old School structure and tannin on the full-bodied palate. Black and purple fruit succulence gains traction on the back end. Really tasty. (1873 views)
Tasted by West Chester Wine on 5/8/2019 & rated 85 points: Good solid flavor (1098 views)
Tasted by Dave Dewar on 1/5/2019: First of two bottles. Decanted one hour. Medium-dark ruby with purple hues. No sediment at all. Aromas of rich, sweet dark fruits, as well as ripe banana and oak. On the palate, cherry, strawberry, and spice. M body, M acidity, XD, M+ tannin. Paired well with a steak. Enjoyable now or hold for greater complexity. (800 views)
Tasted by AlphaL on 12/31/2018 & rated 90 points: St supery 2014. It is not an expensive wine and I was impressed with this at the $30 price point. The color of this particular bottle was nearly as dark as a Petite Sirah. The bouquet was dark cherry, chocolate and tobacco. It was a little jammy which was part of it's full body. It had nice tannins running over the palate but not a lot of acidity. Mid palate was with more dark cherry and a little chocolate. The finish was medium. A really nice every day wine. I will have to buy some more to see if they are the same or I somehow got a different batch. (1008 views)
Tasted by thesternowl on 10/21/2018 & rated 90 points: For the money, this is a pretty darned good Napa CS. It’s not overblown with oak, nor is it confected. Red currants, tobacco and just a touch of vanilla. IMO, this was a lot more enjoyable than the 2013 Jordan I tried the night before. (1403 views)
Tasted by walla_wallou on 7/28/2018 & rated 91 points: Nice cabernet! (1476 views)
Tasted by Stephen.Somm on 7/27/2018 & rated 89 points: My 1st St Supery Cab, and it will not be the last.

Aromas of vanilla and cherry on the nose. Jammy, fruit-forward notes of blackberry and black cherry on the palate. Secondary notes of cedar and spice. Medium-plus tannins. Medium acidity. Nice balance and structure.

Good, but not great Napa Cab for $30. Drink 2020-2024. (1286 views)
Tasted by fah on 3/20/2018 & rated 88 points: This wine is drinkable now. I would give the richness of the fruit 88.5 pts and the tannins 90 pts. There's not a lot of fruit in this wine. You'll notice the tannins more than the fruit, but I don't think aging will help this. I bought at total wines for $24. Won't buy again. (2079 views)
Tasted by bordeaux456 on 2/27/2018 & rated 87 points: Big Californian wine right here. This an an absolute beast, chewy and tannic. This is still very fruit forward and a little sweet for my taste which leads to a lower rating but think that there is a lot of potential for a better score in the future. Very long finish. 87+ (1787 views)
Tasted by Twinkles on 2/19/2018 & rated 89 points: Good but a but expensive as it does not stand out much. (1550 views)
Tasted by AussieLuV on 2/5/2018 & rated 89 points: It's young needs some age. But good. (663 views)
Tasted by Dennis Styne on 6/28/2017 & rated 90 points: Smooth better than cohen (2779 views)
Tasted by mcquint on 6/27/2017 & rated 92 points: Spicy (2520 views)
Tasted by Stevenwsims on 4/6/2017 & rated 93 points: Opened overnight and still showing tannins. Plenty of aging potential (2192 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
