Tasted by dlduchon on 5/12/2024 & rated 92 points: From magnum. Fantastic wine. Multidimensional, tasty, love to contemplate Hardy’s efforts. (64 views)
Tasted by AlphaMikeFoxtrot on 10/31/2023 & rated 89 points: Nice Sierra Foothills Mourvèdre that's just starting to decline. The last review from early 2022 says it was great; and I think I just missed the window.

Tomato leaf, violet petals, iron, ripe black cherries and smoked wood on the nose. Smells fruit-backward. The palate is pretty consistent with the nose, adding more dried dark fruit flavors. Overall, this just feels very tertiary. The finish adds a flavor of hibiscus, which hints at the freshness this once had.

Medium + body with medium - acid and medium - tannins that quickly fade. Drink now and quickly if you happen to have any of these. (330 views)
Tasted by BillBell73 on 1/30/2022: As much as I loved this wine when it was young, this is becoming rather serious stuff. I used to think D and R was just about the fresh, young carbonic style that worked so well with Mourvèdre and I sorta doubted that there was that much aging potential but I’m glad I listened to Hardy and have a few of these older bottles. Light in extract, mostly resolved tannins, a haunting nose of roses and violets and plummy fruit. A stunner and the best Dirty and Rowdy I’ve ever opened. (759 views)
Tasted by dlduchon on 8/11/2021 & rated 92 points: What a fantastic wine. I loved the vibrancy and crunch. Served at 59° and it
Accentuated the zip but added dimensions as it warmed. It taste like the essence of Mourvèdre, un-manipulated and unlike the typical rustic style that I also love. Amazing!!!! (762 views)
Tasted by Rieslingfan on 1/25/2021: 24 hours of air, and this still does not want to come out and play. Hold, hold, hold. Hardy agrees. Wait! (1371 views)
Tasted by yaCellar on 4/2/2019 & rated 90 points: I always enjoy D&R wines for their tasty, quaffable nature. Great weekday easy drinkers. I always find them homogeneous though. Like the same wine repeated with little varietal character. Maybe it’s the concrete ferments and/or carbonic maceration. (1715 views)
Tasted by dlduchon on 3/31/2019 & rated 90 points: Fantastic almost Burgundian like Mourvèdre. A blast to drink and enjoy. (1182 views)
Tasted by fred o. on 2/22/2019: Violet-burgundy color with translucence at the edges. Nose plummy black cherries, hint of pine. Palate appealingly fresh strawberries, striking purity of fruit with a deceptively solid core that’s almost jammy. Finish bright, and with time a faintly chalky hint of tannins. Very enjoyable now especially as it sits in the glass, but has great depth, could see it developing more of an herbal character as it ages. Hold for 1-2 years more if possible. 92 pts (1106 views)
Tasted by pryby on 11/2/2018 & rated 91 points: Mineral strawberry goodness. Great with fried chicken tonight. (1109 views)
Tasted by domco on 10/7/2018: Just OK for us tonight. Some nice red fruit but has an herbal, savory edge to it that is just over the line for us. (1203 views)
Tasted by 5laton on 2/23/2018: Tight initially but with air a lovely, delicate and mineral-etched wine emerges. Leftovers didn't hold up well overnight. (373 views)
Tasted by jcha24 on 11/21/2017: Delicious (1982 views)
Tasted by Rieslingfan on 10/29/2017: It's great when a given vineyard site works with a producer. D&R and Shake Ridge are one of those partnerships. There is nothing overworked with this wine. It's elegant and complex. Bright red fruit is combined with herbal and menthol notes that keep everything fresh. It's difficult to put the glass down, and ultimately the bottle gets drained too quickly. (1793 views)
Tasted by Peter Kleban on 4/14/2017: ** (close to ***)

C: Bright, cheerful red
P: Glorious, bright, cheerful and oh so drinkable. Ready to go, more so than the 2014 IIRC. Notes of raspberry. Medium weight, well balanced and long, somehow it's subtle and straightforward at the same time. Went beautifully with grilled lamb chops. A real pleasure, thank you Hardy and Co!
9/30/17:
Second bottle. Consistent. But we had it with Greek food, which was a mistake, it didn't play so well.
3rd bottle 3/16/18:
Decanted about 90 min. Seemed a bit muted the first day, but maybe that was me. Kept the rest in the fridge, and the next day it sang a glorious duet with a dinner of grilled swordfish. What a bright, cheery, beautifully balanced wine. Kudos to Hardy! (1693 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
