Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 90.4 pts. and median of 90 pts. in 13 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by ID on 1/27/2024: The nose is an immediate “wow.” The palate is springy like a ‘16 Chevalier Blanc I recently had. Excellent wine. My favorite in a line-up of seven Chardonnays. (224 views)
Tasted by Rallerboy888 on 3/29/2023 & rated 92 points: Drinking very well at the moment, and was surprisingly open from the pop and pour. It's still very lean, but the fruit has started to come around, and make itself present. There's some oak, but it's not fatty or buttery, but instead shapes this phony Chablis into a whole. There's such a refreshing, piercing acidity along with oyster shells, an explosion of citrus and just a touch of oak.

This would have been killer with a dozen oysters! I see no rush to drink this, but I also don't know if it will improve further. (532 views)
Tasted by ID on 7/26/2022: Light and crisp though not chablis-crisp; it seems like oak treatment is there. (762 views)
Tasted by belfast taxman on 7/12/2022 & rated 90 points: Last bottle and still drinking very well. (757 views)
Tasted by IJC on 4/9/2020: Certainly a very nice bottle of wine, but somewhat less than I had anticipated - solid, safe, decent - far less interesting than when I drank this vintage some years earlier.

Rated +1 on a scale of -1 to +3. (1443 views)
Tasted by belfast taxman on 10/9/2019 & rated 90 points: Drank very well with wifey’s Chicken in cream and mushroom sauce. A real elegance to this, avoiding any sign of hot alcohol in the mouth. (1405 views)
Tasted by il_diavolo on 9/2/2019 & rated 89 points: yellow to light green in colour. Ripe but balanced aromas of citrus and apple, some oak showing at the back end. This is nice for a 2015 and probably in this vintage the equivalent or close to more expensive white burgundies (like villages or lower tier premiers) but still shows the vintage heat and limitations to some extent. (1262 views)
Tasted by lepetitchateau on 5/25/2019 & rated 92 points: Friendly and open, clean fresh saline elements - not a huge or dense wine, but very pleasing. (1187 views)
Tasted by Burgundy Al on 11/11/2018 & rated 90 points: Knightsbridge Annual Holiday Burgundy/Champagne Tasting and Sale (Northbrook, IL): Tasting, brief note. Rich and fleshy orchard fruit with some peach hints. Opulent starts transitions to brighter, more restrained middle and finish. Very good length. Better to cellar another year or three. (2311 views)
Tasted by belfast taxman on 9/2/2018 & rated 89 points: Verging on the 90’s very well made wine with good balance of oak and fruit with neither of these elements allowed to dominate. (728 views)
Tasted by diggydan on 8/24/2018 & rated 91 points: Nice. Initially tart green apple but taste quickly ripens. Good stoniness and acidity. (653 views)
Tasted by pbaek on 2/20/2018: My first experience with this grower. First thing that strikes me is how balanced this is. Pure green and white fruit, very little, if any, marks from oak, fresh acidity. Creamy, full texture, full without being grainy, I guessed Puligny on this. Fantastic wine, one I would want in my cellar. At Enomania with Carsten and Peter H. (1018 views)
Tasted by IJC on 2/3/2018: Delicious.
Crisp acidity, bright, brilliant fruit, dancing across the tongue.
And, surprisingly well structured, it lasted for days after opening (properly sealed, of course), still vibrant.

Rated 1 on a scale of -1 to 3. (920 views)

Burgundy

Les vins de Bourgogne (Bureau interprofessionnel des vins de Bourgogne) (and in English)

Burgundy - The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay. (Small of amounts of Gamay and Aligoté are still grown, although these have to be labeled differently.) The most famous part of the region is known as the Cote d'Or (the Golden Slope). It is divided into the Cote de Beaune, south of the town of Beaune (famous principally for its whites), and the Cote de Nuits, North of Beaune (home of the most famous reds). In addition, the Cote Chalonnaise and the Maconnais are important wine growing regions, although historically a clear level (or more) below the Cote d'Or. Also included by some are the regions of Chablis and Auxerrois, farther north.

# 2013 Vintage Notes:
* "2013 is a vintage that 20 years ago would have been a disaster." - Will Lyons
* "low yields and highly variable reds, much better whites." - Bill Nanson
* "Virtually all wines were chaptalised, with a bit of sugar added before fermentation to increase the final alcohol level." - Jancis Robinson

# 2014 Vintage Notes:
"We have not had such splendid harvest weather for many years. This will ensure high quality (fragrant, classy and succulent are words already being used) across the board, up and down the hierarchy and well as consistently from south to north geographically apart from those vineyards ravaged by the hail at the end of June." - Clive Coates

# 2015 Vintage Notes:
"Low yields and warm weather allowed for ample ripeness, small berries and an early harvest. Quality is looking extremely fine, with some people whispering comparisons with the outstanding 2005 vintage. Acid levels in individual wines may be crucial." - Jancis Robinson

# 2017 Vintage Notes:
"Chablis suffered greatly from frost in 2017, resulting in very reduced volumes. As ever, the irony seems to be that what remains is very good quality, as it is in the Côte d’Or. Cooler nights across the region have resulted in higher-than-usual acidity, with good conditions throughout the harvest season allowing for ripe, healthy fruit." - Jancis Robinson

# 2018 Vintage Notes:
"The most successful region for red Burgundy in 2018 was the Côte de Beaune. The weather was ideal in this area, with just enough sunlight and rain to produce perfectly balanced wines naturally." - Vinfolio
