| Community Tasting Notes (average 89.6 pts. and median of 90 pts. in 53 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by Burgundynick on 2/5/2023 & rated 90 points: Sadly my last bottle lovely juice 90 points (461 views) | | Tasted by gtilley on 6/12/2022: Consistent with previous notes - very noticeable green tinge! (891 views) | | Tasted by jb@jbisme.com on 5/28/2022 & rated 88 points: Abundantly floral on the nose with banana leaf and tropical notes. On the palate also very floral but balanced by guava, apple and apricot. Medium-to-full bodied. Drink now. (903 views) | | Tasted by gtilley on 11/13/2021: Consistent with previous note - presenting as rather gewurz-like. (1283 views) | | Tasted by jdkrabbe on 9/12/2021 & rated 91 points: Italian white wine tasting survey - deep honeyed yellow. Citrus, tree fruit, floral. dry and defintiely seemed grapes got ripe with some tropical fruit flavours. Some lees aging here adds a second layer of interest. Best wine of the flight. (1400 views) | | Tasted by TannicBeast on 5/13/2021 & rated 90 points: Italian Wine Scholar Class at the Texas Wine School. Med yellow, with a slight green and gold hues. Med (+) nose of citrus, green apple, pear, honeysuckle. All stainless steel. Dry, generous palate, with med (+) acidity, med (+) to high alcohol (14%) and a slight phenolic bitterness on the stony finish. Aging on the lees for 8 months gives it a pleasant creamy texture, with med (+) flavor intensity and length. At its peak, although age-worthy, it's not likely to improve with further aging. Tasted again on 3/29/22 with consistent results. (1434 views) | | Tasted by TallMikeWine on 3/21/2021 & rated 89 points: Waxy yellow fruit. Lemon, pineapple, mango...what am I missing. Refreshing! (1290 views) | | Tasted by Maphill01 on 2/12/2021: A new variety me. All kids of fruit, mango, pineapple, peach. Stone fruit, minerals. Creamy mouthfeel. Medium body. Spicy, tart finish. There was a lot going on, somehow all in balance. A fun wine. (1334 views) | | Tasted by gtilley on 1/29/2021: So delicious - best bottle yet. So many flavours bursting out - mango, pineapple, rum raisin, peaches and cream, strawberry ice cream in a waffle cone (said my husband), a whiff of smoke. Has a puppy fat texture to it. Just really luxurious and decadent. (1097 views) | | Tasted by Tim Heaton on 10/25/2020: Consistently Good+. Certainly in the zone (PnP), this is really enjoyable now, and for the 90 minutes it was open. It will hold a few more years at this level, but I don't see a reason to wait. Organic winegrowing, traditional cellar, great people, what's not to love? 14,0% abv. Easily recommended

Not a subtle wine, and good with food but on its own, a bit much somewhat - all in all, a fun wine for the wine geek. Not overly sweet though but a lot of stone fruit and minerality. (928 views) | | Tasted by mrmikemtr on 7/3/2020 & rated 90 points: Fruity nose as name implies. Fruit, oily texture on palate. Again, awesome, dry, summer wine. Very consistent. Have couple more bottles left :-) (1011 views) | | Tasted by RGCM Gananda on 6/23/2020 & rated 89 points: Aromatic nose, showing peach, pear and mineral qualities. Starts off lighter in body (14% ABV), but as it warms, shows more density , ending up much closer to medium bodied. Soft, but expressive white fruit upfront, especially pear and peach. Develops an almost oily quality through the middle (especially as it warms) that brings out the yellow peach notes. Retains intensity on the backside with a combination of spices, tart notes and overall acidity. In general, I enjoyed this more on the cooler side when the acidity/tart notes and the fruit felt in better balance. As it warms, it gains depth, but it loses some fruit definition and harmony. Drinking well now, but should hold this level for 3+ more years; no signs it will fade anytime soon. (1032 views) | | Tasted by Tim Heaton on 5/26/2020: In the zone now, with a med(-) body, and a mixture of white, yellow, and orange fruits. Nice wildflowers, some soil/chalk, and a med finish, and complexity. Just enough through the middle palate at this stage. Drink now, and the next few years. Organic, traditionally vinified. recommended

I did not drink with food, which was a mistake, pair with food for sure to enhance the flavors it has to offer. (948 views) | | Tasted by gtilley on 4/26/2020: Consistent with previous note, although I was perhaps a bit less wowed by it. (1115 views) | | Tasted by mrmikemtr on 8/10/2019 & rated 90 points: Consistent, oily, fruity. Lovely summer wine. (1237 views) | | Tasted by gtilley on 3/11/2019: This is delicious! Rather golden, has a nose with the florality and spice of a gewurtztraminer with some pineapple chucked in and even some herbal notes. Delightfully fatty, unctuous palate. Rich but dry. Works with or without food. (1698 views) | | Tasted by Neecies on 2/28/2019: At a party--interesting to realize in writing this that I'd had it BTG at a Philly restaurant a year ago and thought it boring. Well, it's not boring any more! Complex and refreshing, excellent. (1501 views) | | Tasted by oakville72 on 2/23/2019 & rated 90 points: Don't think I'd ever tasted a Schiopetto before, tho I'd always wanted to and am a big fan of Collio wines. Certainly didn't disappoint. Restrained fruit with an almond and mineral tone. Light yet balanced. (1476 views) | | Tasted by rocknroller on 12/21/2018 & rated 90 points: Annual Tasting Group Holiday Party (I Nonni, St. Paul, MN): Small taste. Hey, I liked this, fun wine, great aromatics, nice fruit and good energy and drive. (2150 views) | | Tasted by Burgundynick on 10/28/2018 & rated 90 points: well worth seeking out and giving it a bash. This has lots going on with stone fruit, hint of lemon and tropical fruit. Medium full, decent acidity, lingering finish and smooth. Delicious 90 points (1547 views) | | Tasted by Burgundynick on 8/26/2018 & rated 90 points: This is delicious. With every bottle it gets better. Lovely yellow, stone fruits and slightly full. 90 points (1569 views) | | Tasted by ESTEELE90 on 7/17/2018: Pnp. Pours a bright golden yellow in the glass. Nose and palate are quite expressive and flashy showing plenty of ripe, round, and waxy tropical fruits including pineapple and passionfruit, a very distinct and strong note of banana, and fine flinty minerals. Midpalate had great energy and density to it with the banana note taking the forefront. Racy acid drives this to medium finish that is persistently tropical and mineral. Very nice. (1907 views) | | Tasted by Lyubomir Lefterov on 5/11/2018 & rated 90 points: Waxy, elegant, inviting, rounded, polished and juicy, very pleasing wine. It would be difficult to speak about top quality wine from Italy and not include Mario Schiopetto in that conversation. He is widely considered one of the founding fathers of Italian white wine and a true pioneer. His early wines helped to change perceptions of Italian white wine, forever. Mario was also responsible for introducing many modern winemaking techniques to Italy, both in the vineyard and in the wine cellar.
Towards the end of his tenure, Mario passed the reins of his property over to his children, who worked hard to continue their father's hard work and uphold his legend. The estate is now in the capable hands of the Rotolo family who have also done a fantastic job of keeping Mario's philosophy alive to this day. This is an approach born out of an unwavering desire to let his vineyards speak for themselves - to give them a voice, so to speak. [Good Pair Days]FriulanoFriulano (formerly Tocai Friulano, and also known as Sauvignonasse) is a grape variety most famous for its role in the white wines of Friuli, northeastern Italy. These wines, usually varietal, are lively and fruit-driven with notes of citrus and almond, and often a touch of minerality. The grape is thought to be native to South West France, where it is known as Sauvignonasse or Sauvignon Vert. However, it has moved on from its home and into northeastern Italy, where it has quickly become one of the region's most classic styles. Mentions of wines called "Tocai" date back hundreds of years here, but as always, it is not clear exactly what grape variety this refers to. Many local winemakers believe it to be Tocai Friulano.Italy Italian Wines (ItalianMade.com, The Italian Trade Commission) | Italian Wine Guide on the WineDoctorFriuli-Venezia GiuliaBrazzano di Cormons (GO)
