Tasted by Bigfresser on 7/4/2022 & rated 94 points: drinking this on my birthday. It was smooth and rich with lot's of integrated fruit and soft tannins. (1166 views)
Tasted by Yack Man on 9/6/2020 & rated 93 points: Dark purple to the rim, with a floral nose. Palate wise, dark cherry, dark berry fruit, slightly tart cassis. More of a full-bodied wine yet the flavors are suppressed/inhibit flavors at this stage, a wine that will benefit from more cellaring. If you decide to drink it soon, give it a long decant. A good wine now but with better days lie ahead for this vintage. The 2016 is more approachable and preferred. (2267 views)
Tasted by cablover123 on 1/22/2020 & rated 93 points: This year is starting to open up and still has upside. Give it a few more years or a 2+ hour decant.

Crimson red in color with the alcohol still prominent on the edges. Damp forest floor and tobacco on the nose. Dark plums and cherries with a long smooth finish. This was the best 12C I have tried which tells me to age those 15's and 16's five plus years. (1595 views)
Tasted by Yack Man on 2/5/2019 & rated 93 points: My first bottle was more explosive on the palate, higher octane and raw energy. I really enjoyed the power and energy of this wine the first time around. This experience started out a bit on lock down.
Reddish purple color. On the palate, dark and slightly tart cherry, cassis, soft plum notes and some acidity. A medum/ full-bodied wine that will benefit from more bottle time. Day 2 showed a nice improvement as the acidity tamed and had settled down nicely, not to mention, the wine smoothed out and the components in the wine were a bit more expressive on the palate. This bottle went from 91 to 93.5 Points . This is a pretty good bottle of vino that shows best with some decanting. (2571 views)
Tasted by HowellMountainCru on 12/8/2018 & rated 94 points: A wonderful expression of a modern Napa cab. Drank along side a 2013 Janzen To Kalon an a 2013 Stonestreet Cougar Ridge brought by my buddy Mark1npt. All great wines, for me the 12C was the brightest most fruit driven. It had great depth and balance with a plum and violet palette.

Just another great wine from Mike Smith in his usual style. (2017 views)
Tasted by ageverett on 4/1/2018 & rated 92 points: Coravin taste with a 2015 Myriad GIII. We preferred the smoothness, power and mouthfeel of the Myriad to popped the cork on it.

This was more austere, dusty, and reserved.

Popped the cork a few days later, and presented in a similar fashion. Not super thrilled about it - by no means a bad wine, just not up to expectations. Need to forget about other bottles of this vintage for a while. (3124 views)
Tasted by csimm on 1/13/2018 & rated 93 points: Livermore AVA + Wente Dinner with a ton of other wines: On par with what I've experienced with the 12C GIII Reserve, this 2015 version was displaying some interesting (almost funky and earthy) dark red and black core fruit flavors, laced with cedar and mulch on the back end. I liked it, but it made me think this wine needs more time to find whatever glide it will eventually settle into. A little "here and there" with its delivery. Lacking some smoothness, but hinting at upside in a few years. It reminded me a bit of a Quivet Pellet with its more unrefined and rustic profile.

This '15 was MUCH more accessible than the '13 was at a similar age (the '13 had a bit of a sting to it last year), but the '15 seemed a little more tripped up in its glide across the mid-palate currently. The cedar element clipped it a bit. A conservative 92-93+ points for now. Hold until 2019+ (3964 views)
 Tasted by pdemaio on 11/15/2017 & rated 95 points: PDQ94+ (1834 views)
Tasted by Yack Man on 8/27/2017 & rated 96 points: Popped and pour. I like this wine, it's very good, but I favor the 2015 Myriad George the III. The Myriad has more thrust and power than the 12c G3 at this point. This Cab is a sleek and a bit softer. I have about 1/2 of the bottle left, so there will be more to come. I need to keep in mind, it's a still a baby.

Day 2, nice improvement. Dark red purple color and a light, nose. An elegant full-bodied Cab that is refined with ripe dark cherry and berry fruit with smooth tannins. This wine will show better but it does need time. 96+ Points (2749 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
