Community Tasting Notes (average 92.5 pts. and median of 93 pts. in 21 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by unrelenting on 6/18/2022 & rated 98 points: Yeasty , decent oxidation Super complex (1455 views)
Tasted by HappyGilmore on 1/15/2022 & rated 89 points: Had this in my cellar for a long time. Opened at a family dinner. Golden yellow, still some acidity and sparkle. Very enjoyable. (1641 views)
Tasted by Porters Wines on 10/3/2020 & rated 86 points: On the cusp! Still good with seafood platter, thank god for food. Otherwise by itself no good.
Had slight acid up front, big chardy aged mouthfeel & gave a little in the throat. Drink now! (2154 views)
Tasted by Xavier94 on 12/25/2017 & rated 95 points: Rich and dense aromas of brown sugar, apple cobbler, baked apple. Long, wide and creamy in texture. Shows the richness of the vintage. Wonderful bottle. (4975 views)
Tasted by Wine_lvr on 12/6/2015 & rated 92 points: Elegant, quite crisp, lemon zest, nuts and bread notes. Not as oxidative as other Grand Annees I tried. Nice bottle for 007 enthusiasts. I would not spend the extra money and just go with the regular bottling of the 2002 GA. (7576 views)
Tasted by AV2012 on 11/7/2015 & rated 91 points: Bollinger 1953-2009: This was a regular GA 2002 with a special label and a fancy box.
Green apple, hints of dried apple and apple compote, lightly buttered toast, quite fresh and creamy. Excellent showing but I preferred R.D. to the regular GA this time. (7287 views)
Tasted by Papies on 9/20/2015 & rated 92 points: We believe its the same wine as the "normal" 2002 vintage of Bollinger Grande Annee just the bottling is different. Definitely a bit of added wow factor here. Apparently the case (empty ) has some collector value already in Ebay.

The wine is pretty solid as one would expect, round, ripe and great definition that comes from the special vintage that 2002 was. It is actually on the young side and will age gracefully for a few more years. 92-93 (6682 views)
Tasted by danielbleier on 4/21/2014 & rated 94 points: More expansive than the Taittinger 2004 of the same evening. Apple, orange, and even a touch of pineapple to go with the toasty finish. Very different styles, both wonderful champagne. (8232 views)
Tasted by Jeremy Holmes on 1/1/2014: Plenty of yeast and nut action on the nose. Full an creamy in the mouth with good depth of flavour and crisp minerally acidity punctuating the long finish. (5889 views)
Tasted by bubbachumps on 10/12/2013 & rated 93 points: Very good, large scaled Champagne with great depth. Well-rounded and tasty! (4145 views)
Tasted by Thirsty1 on 10/12/2013: 2007 California Cabernets (Casa de Cove): This was really good. Straw yellow, hints of brioche, warm nuts, great depth. This was an expansive champagne with great acidity and fuzzy bubbles. Packaging was cool and enjoyed with hackleback cavier and regular accompaniments. (3999 views)
Tasted by avp on 5/26/2013 flawed bottle: TCA, SPECTRE won this round. (4068 views)
Tasted by weiny on 4/7/2013 & rated 98 points: Als Aperitif: Unglaubliche Länge (2491 views)
Tasted by tarheel17 on 1/20/2013 & rated 95 points: extreme and amazing intensity. I love the Grande Anne, and I think the 2002 is a wonderful wine. This showed well, with decades of life left. More than Daniel Craig has as 007, I'm fairly certain.

THe packaging isn't worth the extra dough, but in the spirit of an undercover agent who doesn't sweat the cost of anything, the wine champions swashbuckling heroics well. Don't shake or stir. (2966 views)
Tasted by MGrange on 12/25/2012 & rated 93 points: Biscuit, mushroom, hazelnut. My number one 2002 champagne to drink at the moment. Dom Perignon and Cristal will eventually be better but not today. (2331 views)

2002 Bollinger Champagne Millésime Brut 007 James Bond

30,000 bottles of Bollinger’s 002 for 007 have been produced
The product, called 002 for 007, comprises a bottle of La Grande Année 2002 housed in a gun silencer shaped gift box with a combination lock – opened using the code: 007.
The bottle carries a unique “50 years of Bond” logo on the neck label, textured to mimic the grip on a handgun, and will be available exclusively in Harrods from 23 September and nationwide from 1 October.

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of James Bond’s screen debut in style
The long-awaited Skyfall, James Bond’s 23rd on-screen adventure, is soon to be released – exactly 50 years after Her Majesty’s most stylish secret servant made his 1962 film debut in Dr. No. To celebrate the milestone, James Bond’s favourite champagne House has launched Bollinger 002 for 007: a limited edition of a very special bottle of Bollinger, enhanced by a refined presentation box in the shape of a Walther PPK silencer.

To open the box, James Bond lovers will have to crack the code: the three figures 007 must be aligned, and the gun logo button pushed, to reveal a bottle of La Grande Année 2002. Why 2002? Because only ‘the most exceptional vintage of the last decade’ – in the words of Cellar Master Mathieu Kauffmann – could meet James Bond’s legendary high standards...

Throughout his screen career, the British secret agent has become a genuine modern myth, renowned for his faultless elegance, passion for excellence and impeccable taste, and this sophistication is reflected in the collector bottle designed by Sparkle Design Agency. Adorned in shiny black and hot stamped silver, it features a subtle guilloche pattern on the label and cap, which is repeated on the silencer box. A veiled reference to the pistol grip, and a tribute to 007’s eye for detail...

France - When it comes to wine, France stands alone. No other country can beat it in terms of consistent quality and diversity. And while many of its Region, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne most obviously, produce wine as rare, as sought-after and nearly as expensive as gold, there are just as many obscurities and values to be had from little known appellations throughout the country. To learn everything there is to know about French wine would take a lifetime. To understand and appreciate French wine, one only has to begin tasting them. Sub-Region:

Champagne - The French region of Champagne (including the cities of Rheims, Épernay, and Aÿ) was the first region in the world to make sparkling wine in any quantity. Today, the name of the region is synonymous with the finest of all sparkling wines, and wine-making traditions of Champagne have become role models for sparkling wine producers, worldwide. Surprisingly, the region of Champagne is now responsible for only one bottle in 12 of all sparkling wine produced. Styles of champagne range in sweetness ranging from an extra brut or brut 0, to the basic brut to demi sec to doux; some houses produce single vintage champagnes and others produce non-vintage (or incorporate wines/grapes of multiple vintages), often to preserve a specific taste; combinations of grape varietals; and colors, including a rosé. There are several sub-appellations, including the Valley of the Marnes river running from Épernay west, Massif de Saint-Thierry north and west of Rheims, Valley of the Ardre, the Mountains of Rheims (between Rheims and Épernay), Côte des Blancs, Côte de Sézanne, and Côte des Bar in the South. Champagne wine only uses three grape varietals (cépages): Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier.
