Not amazing, but not bad for something with it's feet in the old world for a Tuesday night. (462 views) | | Tasted by WK88 on 10/29/2021 & rated 90 points: Torres Purgatori 2014 Decant in bottle for 45mins Color of red ruby and deep purple, crystal clarity. This wine emerge a nose of profound oak, old leather, riped balanced of red and black fruits, red and black raspberries, blueberry, strawberry and some cherries, heated spices, toasted fresh herbs and slight pencil shavings. Though the tannins is rather strong and firm, but approachable and mellow down after 90-100 mins. Mid palate medium to full, rich blend of Grenache & Syrah, palate mainly echo the nose, with a hint of bitter sweet towards finish. Acidity is well balanced and blended into the wine structure. Finish is of medium length, 40+ secs. Though approachable now, could further develop over next 2-3 years, enjoy for 3-5 years there after. 90 pts (990 views) | | Tasted by bsouligny on 11/25/2019 & rated 90 points: Un bon vin ,nez de mures, cassis et garrigues.en bouche un peu lourd sur la confiture de prunes, sucre brun, tannins legerment rudes et acidité delicate, belle longueur sur la mures,la prunes (1954 views) | | Tasted by Charmz22 on 4/12/2019 & rated 85 points: Bold with spice (2359 views) | | Tasted by ladyblues_ on 2/6/2019 & rated 92 points: It is a mature, intense and deep wine. On the nose, the aromas of ripe red fruit. In the mouth, it is fresh and it expresses all the concentration of fruit.
"Legend has it that large barrels of this wine mysteriously disappeared. Some said that it was the angels who, after secretly coming down to earth to taste their excellent wines, took part of them each year up to heaven." (2425 views) | | Tasted by bitdrerik on 1/25/2019 & rated 87 points: Eðalklúbbur, vínsmakk #1 vor 2019 (Hlíðarás 10): Frekar dökkur litur. Lítt þroskaður ilmur. Grænjaxlar og smá krydd. Síðan smá leður. Þegar ég smakkaði fyrsta sopann þá var fyrsta hugsunin: Vá þetta er spes vín. Annars komu svo fram brómber og jarðartónar. Grenache ríkjandi í bragðinu. Mér fannst þetta vín ekkert sérstakt. Kostar víst sem samsvarar 5.000 kr. Stendur engan veginn undir þeim verðmiða. Ætti með réttu að vera á um 3.000 þá væri það allt í lagi. (2230 views) | | Tasted by maxima on 8/15/2018 & rated 89 points: Bu en succ. Assez ample et complexe. Fruits noirs et tabac avec un peu de boisé. Belle acidité et tannins charnus. Long et chaleureux. (1788 views) |

Spain is the third largest wine producing nation in the world, occupying the majority of the Iberian Peninsula with vast diversity in climate, culture, and of course, wine. From inky, dark reds of the [Priorat] to dry, white Finos from Andalusia, Spain can easily boast of elaborating a wide variety of notable styles. Within Spain there are currently 62 demarcated wine regions, of which a handful have gained international recognition: [Rioja], Priorat and [Ribera del Duero]. Yet these regions are only a small sample of the high quality wines Spain produces. Regions such as Cava, Penedes, Somontano, Galicia, Rueda and Jerez are only a few of the numerous regions worthy of exploration throughout Spain. Spain can also lay claim to having the most land under vine in the world, growing up to, by some accounts, 600 indigenous varietals of which Tempranillo is their most well known. Other popular varietals include [Garnacha], Bobal and Monastrell for reds and for whites; the infamous [sic] Palomino Fino grape which is used in the production of sherry wine, Pedro Ximenez in Montilla Morilles, Albarino used in the creation of the bright, effervescent wines of Galicia, and Verdejo in Rueda. - Source: - Catavino.net
Spain is not in the forefront of winemaking for its dessert wines, other than for its sweet wines from Sherry country including the highly revered Olorosos (when sweetened). But apart from Sherry Spain has a range of styles of dessert wines, ranging from the those made from the Pedro Ximenez grape primarily in Jerez and Montilla-Moriles) to luscious, red dessert wines made in the Mediterranean from the Garnacha (Grenache) grape. Some good Moscatels are made in Mallorca, Alicante and Navarre. The northwest corner of Spain, Galicia, with its bitter Atlantic climate, is even making dessert wines, called “Tostadillos” in the village of Ribadivia (similar to France’s “Vin de Paille”). The Canary Islands have made interesting dessert wines for centuries (they are mentioned by Shakespeare, for example) and in recent years the quality of winemaking has been improved and the Canary Islands wines are being better marketed now. The winemaking styles for “Vinos Dulces” are also diverse, from “Late Harvest” (Vendimia Tardía) to “Fortified Wines” (Fermentación Parcial). Based on in-spain.info.Catalunya Map on weinlagen-infoCosters del SegreCosters del Segre encompasses several subzones in inland Catalonia. They all share a location along the river Segre, largely calcareous soils and a relatively continental climate with still some mediterranean influence. The DO was created in 1988 with a strong influence of the large producer Raïmat. A large number of varieties, both Spanish and international is covered by this DO. |
