Tasted by oldcabman on 5/12/2024 & rated 90 points: Little bouquet upon opening. Full bodied, displaying the characteristics of a high end Bordeaux Blanc.
Long finish, went well with food.
Tough to justify the price, though…. (28 views)
Tasted by Barsacpinci on 2/17/2024: Cat piss (151 views)
Tasted by Mortgage92 on 3/20/2022 & rated 92 points: OK, I was right to wait (OK so just 6 months), but it made difference. This wine is NOW at the drinking window...the citrus has settled down the flavors are still there, but (and I correct myself) drink in 2022-2023...I can't see this wine holding longer. (991 views)
Tasted by Mortgage92 on 7/18/2021 & rated 92 points: Compared to other California Sauv Blanc's this holds it own (not quite to the level of Lail) but very enjoyable - my question is why did I rush to open this...WAIT - at least two more years. The mild citrus (grapefruit) along with the mild acidity (and low brics) make this wine so enjoyable. But did I say WAIT? (1188 views)
Tasted by Markham in Arlington on 12/11/2020 & rated 93 points: Grapefruit on the nose.
Look: hay with lemon curd at the edes
Taste: grapefruit; lemon curd; cream. minerality. very smooth.soft. (1585 views)
Tasted by Mortgage92 on 3/26/2020 & rated 89 points: when I compare this sauv blanc wit, say the Lail Georgia, this one comes in low. The taste of grapefruit and lime is a little too strong for me (I guess I prefer the French style). The aromas of grapefruit are also too strong. This one is definitely above Crocker & Starr and elevated above the Towmey. I have a few more bottles and will open over a longer period of time as that will assist in decreasing the citrus, (2047 views)
Tasted by Acohen on 2/10/2020 & rated 92 points: Great mouthfeel with citrus, lime and balanced creamy finish (1888 views)
Tasted by Jeff Leve on 2/9/2019 & rated 93 points: Citrus peel, flowers, grapefruit, orange and honeysuckle kick the nose off. From there you enjoy the freshness, energy, creamy textures and vibrancy from the fresh, clean, yellow citrus fruits. (2905 views)
Tasted by MC2 Wines on 1/10/2019: Winorama: A winter in Wineland III; 1/4/2019-1/13/2019 (Portland/Willamette, Eureka, Napa): Ended the tasting with the white which was interesting. Many folks talk about their wine being a 'middle ground of SB' and here I did really see it. There's a nice honey and almost sweet note to it. Still also some of that lime and tart and slightly green. It's a nice wine. (2669 views)
Tasted by Acohen on 12/16/2018 & rated 92 points: Crisp with lime, citrus and slight creaminess on finish (1435 views)
Tasted by mattiasjansson on 2/21/2018 & rated 91 points: Eisele Vineyard Tasting (Gordon's): Very light in color. Classic S.B. nose and surprisingly creamy on the palate. (2533 views)

Sauvignon Blanc

Varietal Character

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
