 Tasted by MRGeo on 1/14/2024 & rated 94 points: Not sure if it's the specific glass or a few extra years in cellar, but this impressed me. Used a Reidel Syrah glass, big difference from a standard CS/Red glass, especially with nose. Dark ruby red color with some viscosity along the glass edge. Big floral nose with dark chocolate and ripe blueberries, and still had a little heat. Big flavors throughout each sip and light tannins that don't approach until backend. Soft velvety dark fruit, blackberry and black cherries, up front. Gains intensity as it moves over palate. Added a little sage, cedar and district licorice flavor as it moves towards finish. Little white pepper and subtle tannins on a LONG silky finish. Really fun wine, much different from what in remember in tasting room 6 years ago. Sad this was last bottle. Enjoy it anytime if you still have it! (137 views)

Big fruit forward with smooth up front textures. Dark fruit of blueberries, plums, and blackberries. Very little wood or earth notes and No tannins on front. Gains a little spice, tannins, and red fruit on backend. Finishes with lovely blueberries. Hangs on palate. Beautiful full body wine. Lots of time. (1037 views)

On the palate, red and black cherry flavors, definitely more like a great Italian Sangiovese versus CA cab. A great value for sure. Drink with any pasta dish, but still pairs well with a nice filet from Eddie V’s. (1298 views)

Red cherry fruit, light oak and structured tannins on the palate. Decanted for 2 hours and it went extremely well with gnocchi alla bolognese. (878 views)

A wine that shouldn't work, but it turns out kinda ok. Some chocolate emerged, helping to elevate its profile overall. It's a bit too plush and ripe for any refined food. A BBQ/NFL ground pounder for those who just want to get their red wine craving on. Drink now and pair with nachos slathered in imitation cheese, refried beans, and shredded fatty meat...or just curl up with a 3-pound bag of Doritos perhaps...? (4048 views)

A wine that seemingly should not work, the Blend 24 surprisingly manages to pull off a decent amount of flavor and body. Dark red core fruit, with a ripe and extracted profile that hangs out in the plush zone and serves up party-ready flavors of black and red cherry, black raspberry pie, pomegranate reduction, and some spice. Certainly a drink now kind of red. (3340 views)

Producer Website | B Cellars satellite photo B Cellars is located in the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley Appellation. Partners Jim Borsack and Duffy Keys met in 2002 and formed the winery a year later. Winemaker Kirk Venge makes a variety of blends, all labeled with different numbers, for the winery. The "B" stands for Brix, which refers to the sugar/alcohol content in grapes. Venge is a Napa native and was raised in the Valley in a winemaking family.

Just as the blending of two or more world-class wines can make an even more palatable potion, the uniting of two over-achieving entrepreneurs can create a union that is more effective than either one alone. When B Cellars’ founder Jim Borsack first encountered his partner Duffy Keys at a fourth of July barbeque in 2002, both executives were exploring new life paths in the wine business. Over a drop of the good stuff, of course, their journeys became intertwined when they discovered that they not only shared the same tastes in wine but were also on parallel missions to acquire vineyard property. In the spring of 2003, they scrapped their solo endeavors, formed B Cellars, and got serious about structuring a first-rate wine company predicated upon two absolute principles: first, to produce exceptional artisan wines, season after season, by employing a multi-vineyard strategy, and second, to develop distinct flavors by blending wines from mutually complementary varietals. Not long after they met the third key player, Kirk Venge named “One of the Top 20 New Winemakers in the World” by Food & Wine Magazine (October 2005). Kirk brought with him a 37 year winemaking legacy via his father, Nils, and a keen understanding of the Napa appellation. A bond was established almost immediately. “With Kirk’s passion for great wine, first-hand knowledge and commitment to excellence, it quickly became apparent that he was the ideal winemaker for B Cellars,” said Jim. All team members were in concert with the idea of blending the finest red wines from the Napa Valley Appellation, and Kirk was given the mandate to create three proprietary blends of consummate quality from year to year. The B Cellars name and logo stand for a commitment to seasonless excellence. The letter ‘b’ and the degree symbol º refer to BRIX, a wine term which defines the optimal sugar/alcohol content in grape juice that indicates the potential for greatness.
