Tasted by Ksk44 on 8/25/2021 & rated 89 points: This is one of my favorite bargain reds. Fresh, energetic and savory, this southern Rhône Syrah/ Grenache blend is the perfect red for everyday drinking. And 2016 is an outstanding vintage in the southern Rhône. (886 views)
Tasted by EMTAME on 5/20/2021 & rated 86 points: Starts off with a reduced nose of rubber, which clears with 30 minutes of air. What follows is a dark fruited, soft, and easy drinking Southern Rhone blend. Nothing fancy or memorable here, but a pleasant enough glass of wine for non-contemplative consumption. (1033 views)
Tasted by Nickt55 on 3/18/2020 & rated 80 points: Not particularly enjoyable. Lots of alcohol up front. Some berry notes and definite Syrah character but no appreciable length or particular notable qualities. No better the second day. We will see if a little time helps the remaining bottles. (1958 views)
Tasted by Vintopia on 5/17/2019 & rated 89 points: The 2016 Costières-de-Nîmes Les Grès is a lovely showing. Hard red candy, spice, cherry liqueur, caper and bay leaf blend together to comprise an exotic nose and there is impressive structure and balance in the mouth. A tasty red for near-term drinking. (3400 views)
Tasted by bubbachumps on 3/20/2019 & rated 90 points: Consistent with my prior bottle albeit a tad bit more of everything. Really tasty for $13 (3419 views)
Tasted by bubbachumps on 1/2/2019 & rated 89 points: Completely different experience than other ct notes. Rich cherry plum notes on the nose. Well balanced on the palate, with a decent acidity level. Very enjoyable, especially for the $13 I paid (3192 views)
Tasted by geoffreychambertin on 11/19/2018 & rated 83 points: A $10 bottle that drinks like a $5 one. Not a fan. (2801 views)
Tasted by Decanting Queen on 10/13/2018 & rated 84 points: Just drinkable. Strange metallic aftertaste. (3107 views)

Red Rhone Blend

Read about the different grapes used to produce red and white Rhone wines
On CellarTracker, Red Rhone Blend is the term for a wine consisting of two or more of the traditional 13 Southern Rhone grape varieties. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.

A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce.
