Tasted by MaVino13 on 12/28/2023 & rated 93 points: 96-100: One of the most enjoyable wines I have ever tasted. I would not hesitate to open this wine for any Master of Wine.
91-95: Extremely enjoyable wine that I would drink and buy again. Fantastic to open up for those who appreciate wine.
85-90: Decent to good wine. Weekday bottle you don’t feel guilty about not finishing.
Below 85: would not drink or buy again.

Tasted by LCHammer on 2/14/2023 & rated 85 points: Seemed way worse than my previous bottle. Not much fruit which didn't seem integrated with the tannins that remained. Got a bit better on day 2 but not much. You can find much better for the price. (639 views)
Tasted by Bacchus8378 on 1/1/2023 & rated 90 points: Medium bodied blend with rich ruby color in the glass. Red currents and dried fruit linger, small amount of merlot softens it up nicely. Paired with NY strips and lobster tail for new year’s celebration (488 views)
Tasted by Bricks_Wine on 11/25/2021 & rated 90 points: Decanted for 1.5 hours. Served with beef Wellington. (1548 views)
Tasted by azcowino on 3/21/2021 & rated 88 points: Good on the nose. Better on the tongue. Decent flavors but dry and chalky on the finish. No lingering fruits. (2085 views)
Tasted by FisherMan13 on 12/19/2020 & rated 91 points: Plenty of oak but fairly well integrated. Leather and cocoa. Not a stunner but good value for $30ish. (2118 views)
Tasted by LCHammer on 11/8/2020 & rated 91 points: Lots of vanilla/oak and up front fruit. Not a style everyone cares for but I like it. A good QPR for $35 on auction but probably not worth paying full retail of $57 or so. (2187 views)

Tasted by Woodbridge Brad on 6/13/2020 & rated 89 points: A study in really nice French oak, good medium dense color nice hue, very modest Cabernet flavor under the oak. A very balanced and supple wine and the Cabernet substrate is a good carrier for a very pleasant oak personality. (1471 views)
Tasted by davidspieker on 5/11/2020 & rated 89 points: Dark red color. Dark cherry and cedar aromas. Consistent flavors with some prune, leather and licorice notes. Pleasant finish. (1434 views)

Tasted by Angel Lupercio on 3/24/2020 & rated 89 points: This wine is a deep ruby in color. The legs show heavy staining. The nose is clean with a medium intensity of aroma. Characteristics include ripe cherries, strawberries, licorice, leather, eucalyptus, and cedar. This wine is dry with medium+ acidity, high tannin, medium+ body, and a medium+ finish. The palate is consistent with nose, with the addition of prune. This wine is of good quality and while it can be drunk now it is also suitable for ageing. (1610 views)
Tasted by BeaverBob on 3/11/2020: MOE, I like it. (1561 views)
Tasted by Colorado3G on 2/29/2020 & rated 90 points: My first Peju. Very nice, but needed some air to open up. I would buy this again and may add a few to the cellar. (1358 views)
Tasted by TannicBeast on 2/23/2020 & rated 90 points: Tasted blind. Med + to deep ruby with a garnet hue. The nose is med (-) despite a decant, with cedar and mocha predominating over black cherry and red plum. It sees 18 mos in French and American oak, 45% new. Dry, but with plenty of sweet fruit. Med to med (+) acidity, med (+) polished tannins and high alcohol (14.8%). Full-bodied, with med (+) flavor intensity and length. Probably 5 years old. Very good quality, with potential for some improvement over the next few years, despite the muted nose. 85% Cab Sauv, 8% Petit Verdot and 7% Merlot. (1245 views)
Tasted by Mwhip on 1/24/2020 & rated 88 points: Very basic flavor profile. Medium to full body. Slight oak not too much. Tart finish. Better options at this price point (1381 views)

Tasted by srh on 11/30/2019: Winebar [4 Whites, 8 Reds, & 7 *shared* bottles] from 11/29/19 (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): THANK you for sharing this, Matt! :)

Estate grown 85% C.S., 8% P.V., & 7% Merlot harvested Oct '15; Aged 18 mos in FR & AM oak (45% new); 14.8% ABV, 7.3g/l T.A., & 3.6 pH; 12,000 cases made & released Sep '18 @ $60 sugg retail.

N: Smoke/toast with RIPE berries/pyrazines QUITE underneath

P: LM body; RNDISH entry with NICE, ALMOST swtish frt met by an astringent pucker which stays in contact with the init frt as it evolves into a LONG, BALANCED finish with a burgeoning, elegant, tangy/swtness to the fairly unoffensive, DUSTY tannins. DESERVES another 18 mos or so, then easily making its 10th. VERY nicely done! My EXC; 90 pts WE (12/31/19) @ $55, 89 WS (Molesworth, 2/'19), and the ff '19 Contest results: Double Gold, Best of Region (Red), & Best of CA @ CA State Fair, Gold @ S.F. Chronicle, & Silvers @ Sunset Int'l & Rodeo Uncorked! [By all means, DO check with this vendor if interested in their *very* COMPETITIVE price!]

Note: 1st tasted on 7/27/19, when it likely had SOMEWHAT < air than today’s tasting. (1481 views)
Tasted by isaacjamesbaker on 10/9/2019 & rated 90 points: Peju & Gun Bun Wines: Light purple color. Deep nose of black currants, sweet blueberry, with roasted chestnut, cocoa powder, mint and scorched earth notes. On the palate, this is a big wine, but it holds itself well, with round tannins and fresh acidity. Tangy black cherries, juicy currants, roasted fig, the fruit is complemented by eucalyptus, leather, earth, cocoa, subtle vanilla. Expressive and integrated already, but this should do well with three or four years. Includes 8% Petit Verdot and 7% Merlot, aged 18 months in 45% new French and American oak. (1667 views)
 Tasted by Manofkent273 on 8/24/2019 & rated 89 points: Keep until 2022 (1346 views)

Peju Province Winery

Producer Website
The love of farming and a passion for wine brought Tony Peju to the Napa Valley. A series of ideas - starting in his birthplace on the Caspian Sea, then France, England and eventually, Los Angeles -- created the Peju's Napa Valley winery. In 1982, Tony and his wife Herta purchased 30 acres of land in the Napa Valley with the magic ingredient - location. Neighboring vineyards in Rutherford included Robert Mondavi, Inglenook and Beaulieu. Situated between Highway 29 and the Napa River, the acreage included a 1900-era house and rambling vineyards, some 60 or more years old. Looking to the future, Tony and Herta have introduced their two daughters, Lisa and Ariana, to the workings of the wine business. Both of the young women are immersing themselves in all aspects of Peju Winery.

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
