Still very primary, but starting to soften. Nice complexity. I would happily leave this for another 7-10 years. (273 views) | | Tasted by Matt@5453 on 1/22/2020 & rated 91 points: Popped and poured. A rich, medium to full bodied wine. Ripe Shiraz notes immediately but after time in the glass, picking up the blackberry/cassis notes of the cabernet. A fruit driven wine at this stage, with the oak playing a supporting role. Looking good at this stage but in my mind needs a few years to come together. (494 views) | | Tasted by benmiddleton on 6/26/2019 & rated 94 points: Amazingly dark strong and concentrated. Not overly complex but still very young. (567 views) | | Tasted by Sergiobear on 4/1/2019 & rated 93 points: Dark fruit, black cherry tobacco finish. Very smooth and balanced. (602 views) |
| Wild Duck Creek Producer website2016 Wild Duck Creek Shiraz Malbec Yellow Hammer Hill2016 Yellow Hammer Hill Tasting note: Purple colour. Bolder and fuller than the 2015, and giving plush primary red and black fruits. Think raspberries, blackberries and red apple. The palate is silky and supple with a delicious berry and redskin flavour, rolling into chewy tannins and milk chocolate hints with a long palate-coating finish. An absolute cracker! Cellar up to 10 years. Grape Variety: 82% Shiraz, 12% Malbec 6% Cabernet Sauvignon Alcohol: 14.8% VolWild Duck Creek Shiraz Malbec Yellow Hammer HillOriginally just a Shiraz / Malbec blend, we added Cabernet Sauvignon to this wine to give greater textural diversity.
The grapes are sourced from the same vineyards every year, fully and gently de-stemmed, hand plunged and basket pressed.
The wine is then matured for up to 23 months in older French and American oak barriques, hogsheads, and large format vats, as well as some concrete vats for added complexity.
Yellow Hammer Hill is a wonderful all round red wine to be enjoyed with almost any occasion.Red Blend.Australia Wine Australia (Australian Wine and Brandy Corporation) | Australian Wines (Wikipedia)Victoria Wines of Victoria (Victorian Wine Industry Association) |
