Tasted by MattMauldin on 12/21/2019: Decades of Decadence - "The 9's" (Buellton, CA): Aromas of leather glove, seeming whiff of TCA that seemed to integrate, cassis, clove, and cassis. Nice elegance with depth of earth, spices and florals. Giving nice tertiary pleasure with pleasant supporting fruit. (1448 views)
Tasted by JonnyG on 12/19/2019 & rated 86 points: Decades of Decadence -- the '9' Edition (Our Favorite Spot in Buellton, CA): A faded beauty, understandably not giving much direct pleasure at this point, but the remnants of the acid and the fruit do convey the inherent quality to good effect. (1423 views)
Tasted by meniscus on 1/15/2014 & rated 90 points: From an under-rated vintage this is drinking very well right now. Was excellent last night with a hearty chicken soup/stew.

Very nice cedary bouquet and long, well balanced flavors. On the elegant side with only 12.9% alcohol.

This was a very pleasant surprise. Wish I had more bottles. (3950 views)
Tasted by HVille Wines on 6/23/2013 & rated 85 points: Very nice, still pleasant fruit if not a little thin, soft tannins. Definitely on the downslope, but still a very nice older cab. with BBQ steak, grilled squach and a mixed salad. (4217 views)
Tasted by JulienGraves on 5/30/2009 & rated 85 points: Everything was good to very good - color, balance, finish -- except the nose which was a bit stale. (4940 views)
Tasted by DocSkinner on 4/12/2007 & rated 89 points: Very nice, still pleasant fruit, decent acidity and tannins. Cork came out a little too easily, but no oxidation. A very nice older cab.Nothing exceptional, but just a nice older cab. and for the price, a great bargain... (4570 views)
Tasted by llonergan on 1/2/2007 & rated 90 points: Rsberries, vanilla, cinnamon, berry with integrated tannins. Drinking well now, might have a few years left. (4626 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
