Tasted by Alykhan V on 11/22/2020 & rated 90 points: A well-made basic Cote du Rhone
Aromas of blueberry jam, wild strawberry, orange oil, black pepper, black cherry, as well as some earthy and more subtle leathery notes
Medium+ tannins that are powdery in texture
The black pepper and cherry notes are more prominent on the palate than on the nose
Medium+ juicy and slightly tart acidity
Very good length

After some time in the decanter, some violet aromas began to emerge (758 views)
Tasted by Bnelson29 on 8/10/2019: Bordeaux Glass
Leslee: This wine is super earthy, sour cherry + raspberry like. Dry + loaded with tobacco and spice. (1053 views)
Tasted by Ftcareyjr on 4/15/2019 & rated 90 points: Fruity and mild tannins. Easy drinking wine. (1205 views)
Tasted by grapenomad on 3/5/2019 & rated 86 points: This is straight-out entry level quality, but still well-made nonetheless. Note of roses, violets, sweet red fruit, bit of spices and bit of stems. Medium body, medium acidity. A fairly simple wine driven by primary notes. (1445 views)
Tasted by Wine Ratings on 2/27/2019: A well made, easy drinking entry level offering from the Rhône’s minimal-intervention stalwart, Eric Texier. There seems to be some question on the nature of the 2017 blend: some sources claim Grenache/Marsanne/Clairette, while others claim any or all of Cinsault, Carignan, Viognier, and Chasselas for the latter portion. In all cases though, the wine is Grenache heavy which shows through bright red fruit and cedar spice. The wine carries plenty of cranberry, strawberry, and plum with a gravelly, pine-laden backbone. Touches of cherry, anise, and coffee make appearances at various times, but things stay generally true to the initial character. Okay, so it doesn’t necessarily jump off the page, but I don’t know if that needs to be looked at in a negative light. Not too complicated and very easy to sip, just as a CDR should be - and maybe that’s the best part. This is sub-$25 naturally made wine that’s easily on par, if not better, than its conventional counterparts while still giving exactly what you’d expect from the region. Sounds good enough to me!  Tasted by forceberry on 1/21/2019 & rated 88 points: A blend of Grenache (85%) with the remainder filled out with Chasselas, Clairette, Viognier and other white varieties. All the varieties are harvested together and co-fermented in whole clusters, fermented spontaneously with native yeasts in concrete tanks with a brief 5-day maceration. Aged for a year in concrete, bottled with 15 mg/l of sulfur. 13% alcohol.

Youthful, luminous and fully translucent ruby color with a blue-ish hue. Very open, fragrant and sweet-toned nose with youthful aromas of strawberries, blueberry jam, some licorice, a little bit of raspberry marmalade and a hint of peppery spice. The wine is lively, medium-bodied and obviously quite ripe yet not particularly sweet-toned on the palate with flavors of crunchy raspberries, ripe cherries, some brambly blackberries, a little bit of sweet dark plums and a hint of licorice root. The wine is only medium in acidity with ripe and gentle medium tannins that offer only a hint of grip, yet the wine manages to feel quite balanced and enjoyable. The finish is ripe, juicy and somewhat grippy with vibrant flavors of peppery spice, black cherries, some brambly raspberries, a little bit of ripe blackberry, light inky tones and a hint of wild strawberry.

A nice, fresh and easy-drinking Grenache with lovely purity of fruit. Although the wine isn't particularly high in acidity - as one would expect from a Grenache from a warm year like 2017 - the overall feel is still surprisingly balanced and harmonious; the wine never once feels dull or blowzy, but instead enjoyably fresh and lively. A very pleasant everyday red. Perhaps a tad pricey at 18,90€, but not prohibitively so. (890 views)

Red Rhone Blend

Read about the different grapes used to produce red and white Rhone wines
On CellarTracker, Red Rhone Blend is the term for a wine consisting of two or more of the traditional 13 Southern Rhone grape varieties. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.

A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce.
