Just a delicious , well balanced, classic Californian Chard. Amongst the best. Buttery, with nice acidity. Creamy with tropical notes.

Just delicious.
Case worthy.

Tasted by Duce on 2/23/2024 & rated 93 points: Great balance, very good acid, giving it many more years. (345 views)
Tasted by Alexander Smith on 12/30/2023 & rated 97 points: Easily one of the best Chardonnays from California. I was hesitant to give 97 but damn this is good, notes of ripe orchard fruit, asian pear, crème brûlée and nutmeg. The palate is succulent and layered with rich Asian fruit, sea salt and vanilla tart flooding the palate, the mid-palate wonderfully layered slight rich yet with this vibrant energy throughout, finishing long and energetic. Wow! Top 3 Chardonnay I have ever tasted. (726 views)
Tasted by Vailman on 7/14/2023 & rated 93 points: Marvelous crisp citrus flavors including apricot and lemon. The effervescence has resolved (disappeared). This wine is evolving beautifully and has plenty more life. This well-made, full bodied Cali chardonnay can easily go a decade if properly cellared. (856 views)

Tasted by lovemycab on 5/13/2022 & rated 93 points: Enjoyable chardonnay with nice balance of fruit and acidity with a touch of oak. (1594 views)
Tasted by Vince_chip on 12/26/2021 & rated 94 points: Superbe. Beaucoup de matière, long en bouche. Bel équilibre entre les fruits exotiques et le pain. Beaucoup de plaisir avec un vin bien équilibré. (2071 views)
Tasted by wino_tim on 11/6/2021 & rated 93 points: Brisk and lively, this is just loaded, but even with air, seems notably young. Under the surface there are hints of ripe yellow apple, pineapple core and toast, but at the moment it is all wrapped up in a reductive citrus and mineral cloak. There's so much here just waiting to show itself. (1966 views)
Tasted by buymoreredsdrinkmorewhites on 10/23/2021: A year later, so much more refined, so pure with citrus notes, all intermingled with just a smidge of vanilla so well integrated. Had with Ray and Pudge and everyone very much impressed. Very well made wine with a long finish you just want to keep drinking, which we did. Very well made wine. So smooth. (1708 views)

Tasted by Genghis88 on 8/15/2021 & rated 93 points: Lemon flesh colored
Buttery nose. Stone fruit. Oyster shell
Nice acidity. Well balanced. Lime and lemon notes. High minerality. Long finish. This wine is so damn good. Case worthy! Wine needs some air. Last glass was the best. (1760 views)
Tasted by LWI on 6/20/2021 & rated 93 points: Fairly complex, almost perfumed, a hint of mint; big bodied, sweetish fruit without slight butter and vanilla, full throttle with loosing focus. (1572 views)
Tasted by Rieslingfan on 5/23/2021: Seeing my parents for the first time in nearly 18 months due to the pandemic. First night it was lobster and Ramey Chardonnay. The 2016 Hyde remains a focused, bright version. It still has the expected spice character, and the lingering depth one expects from Ramey Hyde, but this is a race car edition. Lovely stuff. Glad to have a bunch more. (1752 views)
Tasted by sdr on 5/22/2021 & rated 87 points: Technically fine. No excess of acidity or oak. Light to medium weight. Recognizably Chardonnay. But that’s about it. Boring. No soul. No place of origin. Anonymous. No better than a simple Bourgogne Blanc if it were Burgundy which thankfully it is not. (1650 views)
Tasted by Alexander Smith on 5/3/2021 & rated 96 points: This is consistently one of the best Chardonnays in California. Aromas of pineapple, quince, ripe orchard, nutmeg, vanilla, cedar and marzipan. The palate is full-bodied, rich and round yet with focused layers of tropical fruit, citrus pastry, sweet spices and butter popcorn, bright acidity to keep that richness in check with a succulent and lingering finish. Perfect balance 96+ (2042 views)
Tasted by cdebeau on 4/12/2021 & rated 92 points: Crisp finish, zesty (1527 views)
Tasted by now_in_mi on 4/11/2021 & rated 93 points: A fine Carneros Chardonnay, drinks nicely now and seems like it will likely keep well too. (1281 views)
Tasted by cdebeau on 4/4/2021 & rated 92 points: Crisp, mineral finish (1284 views)
Tasted by Genghis88 on 1/29/2021 & rated 92 points: My first time trying this wine, and now I get the positive things that have been said by others.

Pale lemon in color, light bodied.
Hints of lemon and stone fruit, oyster shell. Sea air.
Lovely acidity, well balanced. A finesse wine. Lots of minerality, great structure, with a medium finish. Do not drink too cold. This is a well built wine that will go the distance. Looking forward to opening future bottles. Case worthy!

Smoked a Salamanca cigar. (1728 views)
Tasted by Vailman on 12/25/2020 & rated 93 points: My first experience with a chardonnay that gets better on night #2. Wonderful complex flavors of lemon, apricots, tangerines. Looking forward to seeing how this develops over the next 3-5 years. (1561 views)
Tasted by Jean-Philippe M on 9/26/2020: Bien.

Very nice, lemon, touch of hazelnut and some butter. Crisp yet round and rich, but good balance and a touch oaky, but not too much, medium length on the finish. 90-91 (2324 views)
Tasted by Schiffy on 9/22/2020 & rated 93 points: While I rarely say this about a chardonnay, this needs time to open up and to drink just below room temperature to fully enjoy and appreciate this wine. When you do, there are distinct flavors of candied lemon curd, toast, almond and a hint of butter/tropical fruit on the finish. This is deceptively, complex and well made. (1950 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson

Napa / Sonoma

SONOMA: The Yorkville Highlands AVA, approved in 1998, is located in the southwestern corner of Mendocino County, between Sonoma County's Alexander Valley to the South and Mendocino County!s Anderson Valley to the North. The region is 25 miles long, roughly in the shape of rectangle and bisected by Highway 128 which runs the length of the AVA. The region!s terrain is hilly and forested, with elevations ranging from 1,078 to 2,442 feet above sea level.
The distinguishing features of the Yorkville Highlands AVA are rocky soils with a high gravel content and the climate, which is cooler than Alexander Valley but warmer than Anderson Valley, and significantly cooler at night than the surrounding areas.

Carneros
