Tasted by Milos on 5/25/2023 & rated 90 points: This was a very pleasant surprise. I typically drink this wine very young and was not sure what to expect at 5 years. Pale gold colour. More forward than I expected, with peach and yellow plum yet retaining some grassy, lemony notes in the background. Palate was almost sweet and beautifully balanced with acidity. I think I found the sweet spot where I like to drink this wine. (440 views)
Tasted by Abrahm on 1/6/2023 & rated 96 points: Besides a sexy midsommer-esque label. This wine screams trendy but isn’t on the label judging everyday consumers horizon.

With a body in between Chardonnay and States based Sauv Blanc this is a perfect porch pounder, glug chugging, simple supper that’s out there.

Garlic, nutty, sunshine lemons and a hint of natural sweetness. Beautiful.

Piedmont never lets me down. And vietti always proves to provide. (597 views)
Tasted by YoRi on 11/13/2021 & rated 89 points: L'appréciation diffère de la précédente. Effet du temps ou d'un palais instable !?...
Jaune mimosa assez dense.
(1717 views)
Tasted by Counsel71 on 10/23/2021 & rated 89 points: Nice white wine, slight floral and perfumy. (1574 views)
Tasted by Wine Boss on 6/5/2021 & rated 87 points: Pale, clear. Crisp, green apple and citrus. Medium body. (1898 views)
Tasted by Old Wine Maven on 6/1/2021: A terrific wine with swordfish salmoriglio sauce, best at 55 degrees, long finish, melons and citrus flavors. Would buy again. (1808 views)
Tasted by AllRed on 5/10/2021 & rated 89 points: Off the list at Francesca’s ($55). Medium straw yellow color. Apple, quince, star fruit and dried honey notes. There’s something just a bit floral in there too...not quite honeysuckle but in that vein of familiarity. A bit more round and fruit-driven without the racy acid vein I’m expecting. Apple and spice elements on the palate. Finishes with nice length. 89+ for me, 90-91 for the birthday girl- Domino. (2089 views)
Tasted by PDX-S on 5/6/2021: Such a nice Roero Arneis. Great typicity, medium bodied and a long saline finish. It has opened a bit over the last year.

If “Lip smacking gobs of lemon, grapefruit, mineral and salt” are your thing, then you’ll like this wine! (1416 views)
Tasted by ralstenm on 3/6/2021 & rated 92 points: Citrus and spice on nose. Tropical fruits and honey on palate. Great acidity. (1642 views)
Tasted by ohne_musik on 1/6/2021 & rated 90 points: Really nice! I love Vietti Nebbiolos, but this is my first Arneis. Lemon-honeysuckle on the attack, followed by strong mineral, grapefruit peel bitterness, and then fanning out to honey-pineapple and wax. Medium+ acid and body, and the finish reminds me a lot of a Vouvray. Slightly jagged around the edges, and will probably benefit from short term aging to bring the elements together a bit more. 90+ (1767 views)
Tasted by gfwetzel on 11/20/2020 & rated 88 points: The color is a pale lemon. The nose has pineapple and white flowers. The palate has a definite salinity, which increases as the wine warms, and general flavors of citrus. The acid is balanced with a long finish. Alcohol 13%. (1675 views)
Tasted by YoRi on 11/4/2020 & rated 91 points: Notes écrites quelques jours après dégustation.
Apparence jaune doré, densité moyenne.
Nez expressif, pêche blanche, fleur blanche, jasmin.
Bouche ample, fruits à chaire blanche. abricot, minéralité structurante, bel équilibre sucrosité-acidité. Bonne persistance.
Un vin passe-partout en apéro ou à la table.
Un coup de coeur, et un excellent rapport Q-P. (1668 views)
Tasted by gfwetzel on 10/20/2020 & rated 88 points: A very pale yellow in color. The nose is subtle and has a light citrus component with floral notes of white flowers. The palate has a nice balance of flavors of lime and hints of grapefruit with acid and a medium finish. Good body, not a real light body, but not a heavyweight by any means. Very quaffable and pairs well with food. Doesn’t get a 90 because of a lack of complexity, but a truly excellent value. Alcohol 13%. (1717 views)
Tasted by tombiro on 10/13/2020 & rated 89 points: Super sippable. Nice acid. Great on its own but would have been solid with some shellfish. (1517 views)
Tasted by td1836 on 9/23/2020 & rated 90 points: Great weekday food wine with tons of acidity that pairs great with lots of cuisine. (1510 views)
Tasted by isaacjamesbaker on 9/20/2020 & rated 89 points: Lovely nose of white peach, lime, lemon, with flinty, white pepper, floral perfume tones. Zesty, focused, bright, with stony, chalky, mineral tones. Some nice honey and tea notes. Crushable and fun but showing solid complexity as well. Dynamic and evolved more on day two. I enjoyed this with some ramp pesto pasta and lemon pepper shrimp and all was well. (1520 views)
Tasted by Vinnut on 9/10/2020 & rated 90 points: Pale, light straw in color. Full, forward & attractive nose of ripe citrus fruit aromas of lemons/limes, melon & some peach notes with overtones of floral notes of honeysuckle, stony, minerals & a touch of spritz in the background. Light bodied with a good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, crisp, ripe fruit flavors of lemons/limes, melon & sweet pears, stony, minerals & a hint of honey. Lingering crisp finish. Drinks well at present although it may develop further with an additional year of further aging. (1459 views)
Tasted by fanglangzhe on 9/9/2020 & rated 87 points: White pulp fruits, lemon/lime curd, a hint of matchstick & sulfur, med acidity. Lacking in enough vibrancy & flavour depth to take it to the next level. Maybe this grape has its limits. 87-88. (1391 views)
Tasted by Tim Heaton on 9/7/2020: Consistent with the bottle of four months ago: Quite good, excellent freshness. Melon, citrus, white floral, mineral/soil, most of which carries to a nearly medium-bodied palate. Very light color that matches the transparency of the fruit's purity. Clean, with just the right texture, and finish. A winner. Great with salads, lighter fare, or as an aperitivo. 13,0% abv., drink thru 2022. recommended, and pretty much just as good on night two.

Tasted by peterhimes on 9/1/2020 & rated 88 points: Dry and crisp, well rounded. Slight peach and honeysuckle. Lovely (1336 views)
Tasted by PDX-S on 7/30/2020: Initially, there is a moderately rich stone fruit attack that almost immediately morphs into a dry mouthful of river rocks, which then finishes with lime curd. The acidic finish lingers pleasantly for quite a while.

It’s interesting, while the wine reads as predominantly lean on the palate, there is just enough ripe fleshiness on the attack and within the texture to keep the wine from being austere. Instead it presents a nicely balanced and persistent Roero Arneis. (1646 views)
Tasted by Alexander Smith on 7/25/2020 & rated 90 points: Always a solid wine and QPR. This Roero has the classic touch of Almond which I always find in northern Italian white wines (easy when performing blinding tasting), Aromas of jasmine, white flowers and white ripe peaches. The palate was bright and fresh with ripe orchard fruit, lemon oil, almond notes with a medium finish. (1939 views)
Tasted by ptvie on 7/11/2020 & rated 88 points: It tastes like apple, banana and melon. (1521 views)
(1346 views)

Arneis

Arneis a white grape variety indigenous to the Roero area of Piedmont.

Arneis, meaning "Little Rascal," was discovered in Roero in the 17th century, it wasn't until the 1980's that this grape was viewed as true quality when a few championing winemakers from Roero began increasing plantings and focusing on make quality wine. Before that, it was often called, "white nebbiolo" and was planted to distract birds from taking the Nebbiolo grapes and also blended into the Nebbiolo wines. Today there are 700 hectares of Arneis planted in Roero and more in Langhe.

A typical Arneis will be medium bodied, with medium acidity, and contains notes of notes of white peach, pear, and other stone fruits, citrus, and a distinct minerality, especially when grown on sandy soils. Best examples can age and develop nutty character, but many are meant to be consumed within three years.

Official designations:
Roero Arneis DOCG: Min 95% Arneis, min 11% abv.
Roero Arneis Spumante DOCG: Min 95% Arneis, can be made at any sweetness level, min 11.5% abv.
Langhe Arneis DOC: Must be 85% Arneis

Arneis is also grown in cooler climate areas such as Oregon.

Alba

Consorzio di Tutela Barolo Barbaresco Alba Langhe e Roero

Alba is a town and comune of Piedmont, Italy, in the province of Cuneo. It is considered the capital of the hilly area of Langhe, and is famous for the white truffle, peach and wine production. Piedmont is in the Northwestern region of Italy, bordering France and Switzerland. Piedmont is predominantly a plain where the water flows from the Swiss and French Alps to form the headwaters of the Po river. The major wine producing areas are in the southern portion of the region in the hills known as the "Langhe". Here the people speak a dialect that is 1/3 French and 2/3 Italian that portrays their historical roots. Their cuisine is one of the most creative and interesting in Italy. Nebbiolo is the King grape here, producing Barolo and Barbaresco. In addition, the Barbera and Dolcetto are the workhorse grapes that produce the largest quantity of wine. Piedmont is predominantly a red wine producing area. There are a few whites made in Piedmont, and the Moscato grape produces a large volume of sweet, semi-sweet and sparkling wines as well.

Roero

Roero DOCG was established in 2005 and includes the following wines:

Roero DOCG: Min 95% Nebbiolo, aged min 20 months with 6 months in barrel, min 12.5% abv.
Roero Riserva DOCG: 100% Nebbiolo, aged min 32 months with 6 months in barrel, min 12.5%abv.
Roero Arneis DOCG: Min 95% Arneis, min 11% abv.
Roero Arneis Spumante DOCG: Min 95% Arneis, can be made at any sweetness level, min 11.5% abv.

Roero is located in the northwest corner of the Langhe region of Piedmont next to the city of Alba in the province of Cuneo. The official winegrowing area runs from the north bank of Tanaro and runs along the river between the areas of Bra and Govone. There are 23 villages in Roero, with Canale being the largest. Each area may contain more or less sandy soils; not all areas are deemed suitable for winemaking.

In 2014, Roero was named a Unesco World Heritage site.

Soils: An ancient sea, called the Golfo Padano, once covered the area of Roero in its entirety. As a result, many fossilized marine creatures and large amounts of sediment are still found in the soils. The soils are primarily sand with limestone mixed in, in certain areas, and/or clay.

Climate: Roero has a cold and temperate climate with harsh, cold winters filled with snow and an unpredictable spring and autumn, which can be very wet. Summer is hot, but can be humid.
