Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 86.9 pts. and median of 88 pts. in 9 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by The Drunken Cyclist on 8/12/2020 & rated 88 points: Retail $18. Under Stelvin screwcap. A little bit of color in the glass with a heavy dose of lemon curd, vanilla, and hints of Bosc pear on the nose. The palate has many of the same attributes along with above-average acidity, browned butter, and oak. Stating the obvious, there is a ton of Chardonnay on the market (which actually might be an understatement), but there are few *quality* wines under twenty bucks. This is one. Sure, few will confuse this with one of the great white wines from Burgundy, but it is a fine choice for less than a couple of sawbucks. thedrunkencyclist.com (525 views)
Tasted by David 123 on 6/18/2020: Very good Chardonnay and priced well by Total Wine. (360 views)
Tasted by isaacjamesbaker on 4/19/2020 & rated 88 points: River Road wines: Medium yellow color. Nose shows lemons, peaches, with bright white flowers, dandelions, honey and crème. Medium-bodied, fresh acidity, not too creamy or rich, shows some nice verve and brightness. Limes, lemons and peaches tossed with peanut shell, honey butter, nougat, some cool mint and white pepper notes. Vibrant style, accessible but shows complexity and depth for the price. Fermented in a mix of stainless steel and oak. (572 views)
Tasted by tedcholl on 4/1/2020 & rated 88 points: Russian River Valley Chardonnay. Pretty straightforward, I got Pear and butter and a little citrus. Paired well with Sockeye Salmon (244 views)
Tasted by WhooskeyWine on 11/17/2019 & rated 89 points: Pale yellow hue. Aromas and flavors of cream, grapefruit, green apple, minerals, pear, and vanilla. Medium-full body and medium acidity. Smooth from some malolactic fermentation. Crisp and refreshing on the finish. (484 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
