| Community Tasting Notes (average 96.9 pts. and median of 97 pts. in 9 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by bsumoba on 1/21/2024 & rated 97 points: It's A Boy! Just kidding! (Mi Casa): Similar notes to last time. This was probably the most pleasurable to drink tonight. The 18 VV To Kalon is probably in its primary phase optimal drinking window if that makes any sense. Lots of red fruit, laced with forest floor. Unfortunately, this was the last bottle but am happy I popped it. With time, a bit of smoked meats and a pleasant side of bell peppers. P: Black fruits with a nice bitterness from graphite, and a trail of bitter stony mineral on the finish. A pleasant delivery of comforting earth, while being generous and handing off the fruits and minerals onto the mid palate. A nice brightness that provided nice lift as well.
Favorite of the blind lineup. So comforting, approachable, and giving. It was like meeting someone new, but for some reason it is like you knew the person for a long time already. Bursting with juicy ripe fresh dark fruit, high acid, smooth tannins. Went superb with our autumn-themed dinner: hunnynut squash pasta with browned butter and sage, pork bolognese, butternut squash pizza, and marigold panna cotta.

So floral and open with about an hour of air. Good to go now? (1855 views) | | Tasted by Cristal2000 on 8/1/2020 & rated 98 points: Vice Versa Wines - Mostly 2018 with a few others: Stunning and classic TK notes of cassis, blueberries, violets and spice box. Wonderfully rich and intoxicating with opulent layers of perfect pure fruit and unreal layering and texture. Picks up mineral driven flavors as it progresses. This vintage has notable acidity, freshness and structure. I love how it is so incredibly powerful and full bodied, yet has no noticeable weight or heft. Spans the entire mouth with a complete mid palate and moves to a sensationally long finish. Would not be surprised to see it pop a perfect score with the critics. (9380 views) | | Tasted by dmwilsondvm on 11/24/2019 & rated 98 points: Vice Versa tasting, Chicago (RPM Steak): Barrel sample, traveled from California to Chicago. Have to believe travel drug down the score a bit, as this is easily 100 point potential. Beautiful Oakville flavors, touch of graphite, a touch of mineral, leans dark fruit. Literally no harsh tannin at all. Already wonderfully integrated. (7796 views) |
| Vice Versa Producer websiteCabernet SauvignonCabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.
Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet SauvignonBeckstoffer To Kalon VineyardBeckstoffer To Kalon continues to receive worldwide accolades for its wines, particularly in the last decade. The vineyard is on a gentle slope on the western foothills of the Oakville appellation. Soils are Bale loam/Bale clay loam, and are impeccably farmed by Andy Beckstoffer’s team. We have a by-acre contract so we can determine canopy, crop load and picking dates – but rely on the Beckstoffer viticulturists for insight into this unique vineyard to guide our decisions. ... ©2012 Tor Kenward Family Wines On weinlagen-info
USAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Napa Valley Napa Valley Wineries and Wine (Napa Valley Vintners)Oakville |
