Tasted by jonboy74 on 2/8/2024 & rated 92 points: delicious. strawberry and raspberry with great acidic lift. why dont i have more kelley fox in my cellar? (582 views)
Tasted by pinkhouse on 1/29/2024 & rated 92 points: Translucent red color with exceptionally fresh strawberry aromas. Very little evolution since release given the stunning fruit aromas and flavours. The essence of pure Pinot noir. Wish I had a few more to see how it will develop with time but chances are low given how delicious it is today. Score reflects quality and terrific value. (586 views)
Tasted by Al Ehrhardt on 12/9/2023: Last bottle of a case. Really in a great spot. Strawberries, raspberries, black tea, floral notes, thyme, minerals. Pretty translucent ruby. (744 views)
Tasted by td1836 on 10/7/2023 & rated 92 points: Spicy strawberry, light and delicious. A bit if acidic lift on the finish. (743 views)
Tasted by chablis28 on 8/20/2023 & rated 92 points: Monthly wine group at BLVD Kitchen Minnetonka MN. "PNs from Anywhere" theme. Much to admire here. Kelly Fox is talented winemaker. Sort of Chambolle meets Willamette PN with a tad more ripeness. (1125 views)
Tasted by rocknroller on 8/20/2023 & rated 91 points: Monthly Tasting Group: Pinots for Anywhere (BLVD Kitchen & Bar, Wayzata, MN): Small glass. Sappy, ripe, very dark red fruit, black raspberries, hi-toned, good purity, showing well at this stage. 91(+)pts. (1106 views)
Tasted by mzimberg on 8/20/2023 & rated 93 points: Very small pour- but this left an impression. Super, pure, red fruit. Awesome balance. Singular and very interesting. I will search out Kelley Fox's wines. (806 views)
Tasted by Omar Khayyam on 8/20/2023 & rated 93 points: The book club attacks Tolstoy's War and Peace with a multitude of perspectives (Sörmland, lake Båven): Drinking oh so nicely right now!

Sweet nose with cherry cola, vanilla, red and blue berries, and lots of pinosity all around. Fresh and medium bodied. Great with some pork pit roast so can take a lot of heavy food, the most Russian River like pinot fro Kelley that I've ever had which is completely fine since its so well made. Delish and drink now but could surely hold more years. (919 views)
Tasted by Bakerbd on 7/7/2023 & rated 92 points: Wild strawberries and raspberries, lifted floral aromatics, high acid and pure (858 views)
Tasted by sleepyhaus on 6/2/2023: This has improved massively in the three years since my last bottle. Fresher, wilder, and brighter. I liked this a lot. Excellent with grilled Duroc pork sirloin chops and broccolini, and grits. (843 views)
 Tasted by Toasty Oak on 4/18/2023: 4/15 & 4/18, 2023

An exuberant, perfumed nose, my notes indicate “all the berries,” aniseed, damp earth, orange zest. The palate follows…sweetly fruited, bright and vivid with zippy acidity and tingly tannins.

On the richer & bolder side of Willamette pinots–seems to be a trait of the vintage from what I’ve tasted.

Lights out delicious, but I would wait a few years before opening another bottle. (1049 views)
Tasted by pinkhouse on 4/3/2023 & rated 92 points: Perfect pitch pinot with both delicacy and loads of flavor. Terrific provenance from Weber and Maresh and in the hands of a super skilled artist. Boy do I wish I had more. (1143 views)
Tasted by Al Ehrhardt on 1/7/2023: Consistent with my notes on 6/1/22. Very nice bottle. (1380 views)
Tasted by Al Ehrhardt on 6/11/2022: This bottle was much better than earlier bottles. Seemed to shed some baby fat and becoming more to my liking. Strawberries, raspberries, violets, a touch of earth/minerals. Hope my remaining bottles are consistent with this one. Very enjoyable! (1831 views)
Tasted by diggydan on 5/22/2022 & rated 90 points: Liking this one less tonight. The baking spice from prior bottles tastes like full-on cola, flavored as much as the biggest, ripest RRV pinot. (1824 views)
Tasted by Max S. on 4/14/2022 & rated 92 points: Drinking well from open, but better day 2. Didn't make it 5 years, hopefully hold the last bottle for another year and a half... (1873 views)
Tasted by pinkhouse on 4/8/2022 & rated 90 points: Beautiful ruby color and transparent fruit aromas and flavors. Pure. Delicate and complex. Will improve in bottle. (1776 views)
Tasted by mattstolz11 on 11/14/2021 & rated 92 points: Delicious as always (2418 views)
Tasted by Nutty08 on 8/4/2021 & rated 93 points: On night 2 this was really rock’n. Beautiful pure red strawberry and raspberry notes. Very pure ans clean fruit expression. Saline and ainse add complexity on the nose. Very expressive. Finish is reappearing, lengthy, but doesn’t add depth (if there’s a quibble). Fantastic QPR.
60% Weber vineyard—and I’ve loved Webber in 2018 from other producers as well. (2847 views)
Tasted by Dale M on 7/31/2021 & rated 91 points: Even though I gave this plenty of air – 6hrs plus, this seemed much firmer than my last bottle from a year ago. Plenty of good material, will let my last one age a bit. Still, a very, very good bottle of pinot. (2584 views)
Tasted by AllRed on 6/16/2021 & rated 90 points: Popped and poured. Deep ruby color. Black cherry, strawberry and spice notes. Flavors of cherry, strawberry and baking spices. Silky texture. Very nice. (2865 views)
Tasted by tannictongue on 2/5/2021 & rated 91 points: Bought this at Rosa’s on Orcas Island while visiting
In-laws. Shop keeper described as “electric”. I agree. I really enjoyed the bright Red notes medium acid and femininity of the wine. This is a delicate Pinot, certainly not old world. (3698 views)
Tasted by TrevR on 1/31/2021 & rated 90 points: beautiful and elegant, fruit-forward pinot. Enjoyed it very much. A touch of cola to keep it interesting (3252 views)
Tasted by td1836 on 1/9/2021 & rated 92 points: Transparent ruby color. Light bodied and energetic, lots of sweet strawberry fruit, some ripe stem flavors, moderate acidity. It’s polished and easy to drink. Probably not a terribly long ager. (3090 views)
Tasted by Omar Khayyam on 12/18/2020: Fine Wine Service Sweden tasting the portfolio (@six hotel): Mostly red fruited and with some lovely autumnal forest floor, herbal touch, but also some charming oak that needs a year or two to integrate, some sweet cola remarkably for Kelley Fox, and with trade marked high toned acidity and elegance. Wait a few years. Highly recommended. (3115 views)

Pinot Noir

Varietal character (Appellation America) | Varietal article (Wikipedia)
Pinot Noir is the Noble red grape of Burgundy, capable of ripening in a cooler climate, which Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot will not reliably do. It is unpredictable and difficult both to grow and to vinify, but results in some of the finest reds in the world. It is believed to have been selected from wild vines two thousand years ago. It is also used in the production of champagne. In fact, more Pinot Noir goes into Champagne than is used in all of the Cote d'Or! It is also grown in Alsace, Jura, Germany, the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Romania, Switzerland, Austria, Croatia, Serbia, Italy, and so forth, with varying degrees of success.

Pinot Noir is one of the world's most prestigious grapes. It is very difficult to grow and thrives well in France, especially in Champagne and Burgundy. Pinot Noir thrives less in hot areas, is picky on soil, and deserves some oak storage.

Pinot Noir, or Blauburgunder / Spätburgunder in German, is a blue grapevine - and, as the German name suggests, the grape comes originally from Burgundy in France.

The grape, which thrives in calcareous soils, is used primarily for the production of red wine, and it is widely regarded as producing some of the best wines in the world. The wine style is often medium-bodied with high fruit acidity and soft tannins. It can be quite peculiar in fragrance and taste, and not least in structure - which may be why it is referred to as "The Grapes Ballerina".
Pinot Noir is also an important ingredient in sparkling wines, not least in champagne since it is fruity, has good acidity and contains relatively little tannins.
The grape is considered quite demanding to grow. The class itself consists of tightly packed grapes, which makes it more sensitive to rot and other diseases.

Pinot Noir changes quite easily and is genetically unstable. It buds and matures early which results in it often being well ripened. Climate is important for this type of grape. It likes best in cool climates - in warm climates the wines can be relaxed and slightly pickled.
In cooler climates, the wine can get a hint of cabbage and wet leaves, while in slightly warmer regions we often find notes of red berries (cherries, strawberries, raspberries, currants), roses and slightly green notes when the wine is young. With age, more complex aromas of forest floor, fungi and meat emerge.

In Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Hungary, it often produces light wines with less character. However, it has produced very good results in California, Oregon and New Zealand.

With its soft tannins and delicate aroma, it is excellent for white fish, chicken and light meat. For the stored wines you can serve small game. Classic duck breast is a matter of course, a Boeuf Burgundy and Pinot Noir are pure happiness.

Pinot Noir loses quality by over-harvesting.
Pinot Noir is prone to diseases, especially rot and mildew. Viruses cause major problems especially in Burgundy.
Pinot Noir are large round grapes with thin skins. Relatively high in alcohol content. Medium rich tannins and good with acid.
As a young person, Pinot Noir has a distinctly fruity character such as raspberries, cherries and strawberries.
A mature Pinot Noir, the taste is different. Cherry goes into plum and prune flavors. It smells of rotten leaves, coffee, moist forest floor and animal wine. This must be experienced.
In warm climates you find boiled plum, some rustic, little acid.
If the grapes are over-grown, the wine will be thin, with little color and flavor.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.
