Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 91.5 pts. and median of 92 pts. in 16 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by Lion's Share on 1/27/2024 & rated 93 points: Not your standard heavy-handed Shiraz. This is medium bodied and fairly subtle. The fruit doesn’t overwhelm. Cherry, blueberry, a little peppery, fresh acidity, smooth tannins, plush mouthfeel. Very pleasing to drink. (335 views)
Tasted by beatles on 9/30/2023 & rated 92 points: Loads of blackberry, of course, a true blooded Shiraz, yet very elegant for McLaren Vale, certainly seeking a more delicate style. The punters wont be dissaponted, here is fruit in abundance, pepper, herbs, but the wine is more restrained and fine than earlier wines from this domaine. (1127 views)
Tasted by TS on 9/29/2023 & rated 93 points: Fine-grained smooth tannins. Meduim(+) frruit concentration, well balanced with a long finish. Outstanding quality. Drinking perfect now. (644 views)
Tasted by ziavino on 6/17/2023 & rated 93 points: Notes of black cherry, black plum, black pepper, espresso, dark chocolate, and hints of oak commingle throughout. Ample acidity keeps it feeling fresh, with hints of cut flowers and tar emerging late and lingering on the medium-long finish. A lovely, complex wine that will continue to improve over the next few years. (802 views)
Tasted by Vinnut on 2/2/2023 & rated 92 points: Dark reddish-purple in color. essentially opaque. Forward, assertive & fragrant nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries, boysenberries & plums with overtones of earthy/dusty & floral notes, loam, spices, tea, minerals, some coca, & a hint of vanilla/& oak in the background. Full bodied with a very good concentration of balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, blackberries & plums with herbs, spices, minerals & a bit of vanilla & oak. Drinks well at present with decanting & extended airing although it should develop further with additional aging. (1199 views)
Tasted by thkim on 11/12/2022 & rated 92 points: 투핸즈 가든시리즈는 항상 평타이상 함 거슬리는 것 없고 과실 풍부하고 스파이시한 음식과도 잘 어울림 셀러에 호주 시라즈는 꼭 한두병 구비하는게 좋다고 생각함 (1100 views)
Tasted by isaacjamesbaker on 9/22/2022 & rated 94 points: Gorgeous purple color. The layers of fruit on the nose are so enticing, with juicy black cherries, dark plums and wild blueberries, along with complex spiced tea, tar, violets, rose petals and earthy-clay tones. The palate is so lively and crisp, which keeps this wine racing forward, and it’s balanced with deep but tart fruit (black cherries, currants, dark plums), and a bed of smooth tannins. The spiced tea, rose petals, tar, black pepper and bacon tones are vibrant and nuanced. The elegance here is really something, and while this is already strutting its stuff, I’d love to see this in four years or so. Aged 17 months in 13% new French oak, 13.8% alcohol. (1113 views)
(1008 views)
Tasted by LMArcher on 6/22/2022: Deep inky purple robe.
Florals - high red fruit, peony, blueberry nose.
Deep plum, blueberry , blackberry .
Deft balance, savory, lingering finish.
Not your typical Syrah. (1025 views)

Two Hands

Producer website

U.S. Importer (Addt'l Info)

The 'Two Hands' are Michael Twelftree and Richard Mintz who formed the company in 1999 with the clear objective of making the best possible Shiraz-based wines from prized Shiraz producing regions within Australia. In 2000 they started with just 17 tonnes of fruit from the McLaren Vale and Padthaway wine regions, and the heart of the operation is based in the Barossa Valley. Since the winery opened, Two Hands sucess has gone from strength to strength with numerous accolades defining the culture of the organization. Two Hands Wines were listed in the Wine Spectator Top 100 for the last five years with two listings in the top 10, and the Ares was voted one of the 25 Benchmark Wines of Australia.
