Tasted by Marius Cavasdan on 1/8/2024 & rated 92 points: very fine grenache based du Pape. Drank perfectly. has nice strawberry and raspberries notes, some garigues also. Elegant, sofr tanning. Good length. Nice entry level CdP that is consistent in quality. (640 views)
Tasted by rmcnees on 10/9/2023 & rated 91 points: Tasted at The James Restaurant, Geneva (IL).
Dark Ruby colored, medium-full bodied, classic brambly red and black raspberry and plum fruits with notes of gariggue, floral and spice from the Grenache, with hints of smoke and pepper on the moderate long, rich, ripe tannin finish.

Tasted by Vino Me on 9/3/2023 & rated 90 points: A 2nd wine from Vieux Telegraphe. Mainly Grenache with Syrah, Mourvedre and Cinsault from mostly young vines but it does include grapes from 45 year old vines at Château La Roquette. From.a 375ml bottle. Burnt red color. Not decanted. Light sediment. Solid tannins with notes of rip black berries, leather and clover. 90 points. (881 views)
Tasted by Nomadirish on 8/26/2023 & rated 88 points: Earthy and slightly tart - very light on the mouth and a pinch of heat. Very nice wine; after an hour started to soften. (758 views)
 Tasted by EXPLORER 825 on 8/26/2023 & rated 91 points: Classic Chateauneuf-du-Page.
Dark cherry red color in the glass with expressive aromas after opening the bottle.
Decant for 45 min before tasting.
On the palate, very pleasant medium bodied wine with red fruit flavors of cherries, blackberries and a hint of leather.
Excellent acidity with smooth lingering finish. (730 views)
Tasted by chmorc on 11/15/2022 & rated 92 points: Popped and poured, dark garnet in the glass.

On the nose: dark plums, wild strawberries, liquorice, cloves and dark chocolate.
On the palate: this is beautiful, 15% alcohol declared but doesn't feel like it. Dark fruits leaning into red fruits, a sweetness that comes through with a herbal tea finish. This is a full bodied wine and needs a hefty piece of protein to accompany it. (1372 views)
Tasted by meakbiyik on 9/24/2022 & rated 92 points: Spectacular wine. Long and intoxicating combination of fruits and earth, garrigue. Silky tannins. Wonderful. It just might use a bit more acidity and age. (1261 views)
Tasted by jvphoto on 7/28/2022 & rated 91 points: Black tea, raspberry, garrigue, Ribena (1448 views)
 Tasted by cos65 on 6/20/2022 & rated 91 points: From 375
Clear medium ruby with moderate sediment
Not quite raisin, bright grenache fruit, quite fresh and very charming at this stage. (1342 views)
Tasted by cos65 on 12/15/2021 & rated 90 points: Ruby with some sediment
Some ripe raisiny nose,
Juicy bright grenache fruit
14.5%, but not over the top.
Perfect now for its freshness
No reason to hold, it won’t get even more charming…

Tasted by Woodbridge Brad on 10/16/2021 & rated 92 points: Lots of appeal, lovely Grenache nose balanced by Mourvedre and Syrah. Balanced in the mouth, lasting finish. A winner. (1910 views)
Tasted by progenitive on 10/9/2021 & rated 93 points: Superb. Nice touch of classic Syrah meaty/gamey with black pepper spice. Intense, bold, dramatic. Just learning about CDP but feel this is an excellent example. (1760 views)
Tasted by Hiddenoak on 10/1/2021: Expected much more was flat for a Chatenaeuff (1647 views)
Tasted by soyhead on 9/17/2021: nose - red licorice, intense fruit medley
mouth - big fruit, with a touch of baking spice, yet relatively clean.
quite delicious and drinks well stand alone (1752 views)
Tasted by wine_hunter on 9/5/2021 & rated 96 points: Impressively smooth - smells fruity on first pour, but no actual sharpness when drinking. Very silky and light on the palate. Notes of dark berries and slightly woody (1125 views)
Tasted by beatles on 7/17/2021: Too young - a bit closed and akward just upon opening. Spicy with plenty of Grenache showing, sweet fruit, vibrant balance, good acidity.

Tasted by sjw_11 on 6/1/2021 & rated 92 points: As noted elsewhere, the second wine behind Vieux Telegraphe, this is 80pc Grenache with 10pc Syrah, 6pc Mourvèdre and 4pc Cinsault. “Young vines” of just 30 years old (!) to be enjoyed in its youth, according to the label. Nevertheless the price suggests you should at least hope for more than that conveys, and this delivers on that implied promise. Wonderfully fresh, pure Grenache driven nose, neither over ripe nor confected. Really quite beguiling. Red and dark fruits dominate the palate, which is mouth filling but with quite crisp acidity and gentle fuzzy tannin to close. Hardly budges when open for three days which suggests no rush to drink, although it’s perfectly ready to go now. (1002 views)
Tasted by theqspeaks on 4/4/2021 & rated 89 points: Quite nice (1101 views)
 Tasted by Jon Harrison on 3/4/2021 & rated 91 points: 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 6% Mourvèdre, 4% Cinsault. Brunier family's 2nd CDP.
___________

Color: Medium-dark to dark ruby.

Nose: Beautiful, perfumey, nose of southern France. Redolent of garrigue spice, dried cherry, and raspberry. Touch of sous bois adds complexity.

Palate: Full body (14.5% alc.), yet light on its feet (extract). But with excellent flavor intensity and excellent length. V good balance, with notable acidity. Delicious!

This wine has soul and beautifully reflects its southern Rhone terroir. This is a second wine? Fantastic! Famille Brunier, vignerons, oui, oui, oui!!

Tasted by Adamb2 on 2/12/2021 & rated 92 points: Drinking really well. Expresses cdp well. (1166 views)
Tasted by Pratino on 1/24/2021 & rated 92 points: Ruby red, red fruits in the nose. Full bodied, well integrated, prune, raspberries, liquorice, tobacco, black pepper, cherries. Rewarding. (1036 views)
Tasted by OnWisconsin on 9/11/2020 & rated 92 points: Lots of ripe fruit, from strawberries to blueberries to plums with hints of pepper and garrigue.

While I expected the medium + tannin, the medium + acid balances the structure out.

Well made CdP. Big wine with finesse. (1398 views)

Red Rhone Blend

Read about the different grapes used to produce red and white Rhone wines
On CellarTracker, Red Rhone Blend is the term for a wine consisting of two or more of the traditional 13 Southern Rhone grape varieties. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.

A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce.

"As I have written many times in the past, the sweet spot for drinking Châteauneuf du Papes is usually the first 5-6 years after the vintage. Then they seem to go through an adolescent, awkward, and sometimes dormant stage, only to re-emerge around year 10-12, where the majority of wines are often fully mature. The best of them will continue to hold on to life (but rarely improving) beyond 15-20 years. It is only the exceptional Châteauneuf du Papes that will evolve for 20-25+ years, and those are indeed a rarity. However, things may be improving dramatically in terms of the longevity of Châteauneuf du Pape, although Grenache-dominated wines, the vast majority of wines produced in the appellation, are wines that do not have the polyphenol (extract and tannin) content of top Cabernet Sauvignons, Merlots, or Syrah-based wines. Nevertheless, the younger generation in Châteauneuf du Pape has taken seriously the farming in the vineyards. There are more organic and biodynamically run vineyards here than in any other appellation of France. The yields, which were already low, are even lower today (20-35 hectoliters per hectare), and of course, the proliferation of top luxury and/or old-vine cuvées gives a significant boost to the number of wines that will evolve past 25 or 30 years. The advantage of these wines is their broad window of drinkability." - Robert Parker
