| Ehlers Estate Producer website Ehlers Estate, a historic vineyard property that dates back to 1886, continues today as a steward of the land, creating wines that are reflective of its unique terroir and the passion of its viticultural team headed by winemaker Kevin Morrisey. Certified 100% organic on July 1, 2008 by the California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF), Ehlers Estate crafts expressive and vibrant Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Sauvignon Blanc from vineyard to bottle.2017 Ehlers Estate Portrait Red Blend50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Cabernet Franc, 13% Merlot, 13% Petit Verdot
Tasting Notes: The 2017 Ehlers Estate Portrait is a special red blend of the 4 Bordeaux varietals we have planted at the Estate. The wine is showing deep layers of garnet color. With only 50% Cabernet Sauvignon to give structure to the wine, the big personalities of the Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot really shine in this blend. Aromas of red berries, fig compote, ripe strawberries, cassis and violet flowers flowered aromas of vanilla, mocha and licorice. Long and balanced, the mouthfeel is rich but with silky tannins. Full finish with a long mineral post taste. Balanced acidity promises good aging potential to the wine. Ready to drink now, but it will age extremely well for 15-20 more years.Red Blend.USAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Napa Valley Napa Valley Wineries and Wine (Napa Valley Vintners)St. Helena Appellation Napa Valley The single vineyards on weinlagen-info |
