Mouth coating purple with intense notes of black currants, sage, earth, wet rock, and a floral character (ylang-ylang??). Good acidity but tannins could be a little beefier. Definitely one for a heavy rich meal. (297 views) | | Tasted by Annie Bee on 12/5/2021 & rated 94 points: Love it! Super smooth and tasty. Enjoying with pizzas on the grill. (675 views) | | Tasted by LuisMaimoni@Yahoo.com on 5/5/2020: My tasting of this wine is a little different than the other note. Very smooth, as are other wines from Austin Hope. The winery states the wine has an earthy aroma, going to blueberry and chocolate in the taste. I agree, that's a pretty good description. This is a full bodied wine and not as fruit forward as many others from the region. I spent $58 to get this from the winery... for that price, you can get some pretty decent wine. Overall, I'd say this holds up on price value. (1143 views) | | Tasted by cavedivr on 4/10/2020 & rated 90 points: First impressions. Young wine. Not as fabulous as the 2016. Powdered iced tea on the nose initially. Cranberry. Violets. Very fruit forward and sweet. Finish is a bit short. Fig newtons. Try again in a year. (835 views) |
| Austin Hope Producer websiteMourvèdreClick here to see Mourvedre photographed at Tablas Creek Vineyards in Paso Robles, Calif., in 2005.USAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Central Coasthttp://www.ccwinegrowers.org/links.html
