Nice rich nose, with some integrated wood, and some lemon, plus a bit of animal character ( slight reduction?) - or something similar that I could not exactly pinpoint.
Quite rich and broad, slightly troubled golden color, and I could detect some not well integrated alcohol. Very well made, and quality material, but somehow does not speak to me.
K. detected an aged Burgundy, I thought it was much younger from a ripe vintage (like 2009). (2470 views)

 Tasted by Joe Belmaati on 6/23/2004 & rated 89 points: Pearly, icy yellow colour in the glass. Initially a stoney, minerally, wet iron like impression on the nose. With air and added temperature the nose turned completely to reveal hints of tropical fruits with a strong pine-apple element. Clean and pure mouthfeel with good structure and intensity, and a nice oily flow. Not as sweet, and nutty, as could be expected. To begin with I noted this wine as a 92 pointer, but over the course of a few hours, the aftertaste took a bizarre twist, and became beer-like. Seriously, this had an aftertaste of draft-beer more than chardonnay. This was a bit of a turn off to me, so I guess the overall grade is a bit tough. (3779 views)
 Tasted by Eric on 10/1/2003 & rated 89 points: Tasted at McCarthy & Schiering. On the nose this boasts of toasty filbert and wood-spice. On the palate this is puckering, very citric, with an almost tropical edge and a hint of caramel. Very lush palate. A long finish showing a lot of acid, very nice. (3740 views)

En 1998, le domaine s’est étendu dans le Languedoc-Roussillon, où il produit une gamme de Vins de Pays d’Oc. Le Domaine est situé en zone d’appellations Pic Saint Loup, Coteau du Languedoc entre la Mer Méditerranée et les Cévennes.

Les Referts is a Premier Cru vineyard in the famed Puligny-Montrachet appellation of Burgundy's Cote de Nuits sub-region. Like most of the village, Les Referts is planted to Chardonnay, although this vineyard's position at the base of the hill gives a slightly richer, generally less floral wine than is usually associated with Puligny-Montrachet wines.

The 5.5 hectare (13 acre) site lies north of Puligny town, on the commune boundary with Meursault. Meursault's Charmes vineyard is just across the road.

In Puligny-Montrachet commune itself, Les Referts sits below the Les Combettes vineyard to the west with Les Perrières running along the slope to the southwest. The vineyards below, to the east of Les Referts, are only classified for use in village-level wines.

Les Referts' position at the base of the slope means that while the soil is still calcareous, it is deeper and slightly richer here. This clayey marl has a higher proportion of iron, betrayed by its red color, and the wines are more muscular and heavier than most Puligny-Montrachet as a result.

The vineyard has a gentle slope, facing southeast and giving the vines plenty of exposure to the morning and early afternoon sun. However, Les Referts is less exposed to cooler influences than in the vineyards at slightly higher elevations, and so there is sometimes a tendency for the grapes to overripen and lose acidity.

Les Referts Premier Cru wines are often compared to Meursault wines rather than Puligny as they are more closely aligned with the signature style of that commune.

Burgundy - The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay. (Small of amounts of Gamay and Aligoté are still grown, although these have to be labeled differently.) The most famous part of the region is known as the Cote d'Or (the Golden Slope). It is divided into the Cote de Beaune, south of the town of Beaune (famous principally for its whites), and the Cote de Nuits, North of Beaune (home of the most famous reds). In addition, the Cote Chalonnaise and the Maconnais are important wine growing regions, although historically a clear level (or more) below the Cote d'Or. Also included by some are the regions of Chablis and Auxerrois, farther north.
