Took a little while to open up. Popped and poured because another wine was flawed. Not much complexity but a pleasant glass of wine. (3104 views) | | Tasted by scarlin on 1/30/2008 & rated 86 points: very decent, middle of the road Aussie Cab. Not much complexity, but smooth balanced tannins, and good medium fruit. (3439 views) | | Tasted by win on 11/23/2007 & rated 87 points: SWILL Southern Rhone Tasting: A little disappointing. (4676 views) | | Tasted by b2emarkets on 11/10/2007 & rated 87 points: Big, Jammy ... good value (3634 views) | | Tasted by Pinot Evil on 11/5/2007 & rated 88 points: This wine is a ridiculous value at $12, (1886 views) | | Tasted by AustinDRC on 7/10/2007: This is a good wine, but I don't like it as much as the Parker review. Great dark rich purple color. Not a lot of aroma. Swished and swirled, but it just never came up. Fairly unobtrusive taste. Works better with food. Mild tannins. (1349 views) | | Tasted by E on 5/28/2007 & rated 82 points: Look, who can resist a bargain....on the list at Table 2 for 22 bucks (Derek has such miniscule mark ups on wine compared with most restaurants) AND touted as Robert Parker 91 points (confirmed this later).
Unoffensive certainly, but almost unrecognizable as a cab....light in the tannin department and a higher acidity than almost any cab of recent memory. No major flaw, but uninspiring.
The food at Table 2 did not disappoint...focused flavors, wonderful service... (2192 views) | | Tasted by Thilo on 5/8/2007 & rated 88 points: Color is dark garnet to the rim. Nose shows dark berry, hint of mint, licorice, and tar. Palate reveals juicy dark fruit, green notes, tar, and pepper. Tannins are noticeable, but managed well. Good value if you like a big red. | Bleasdale Producer websiteCabernet SauvignonCabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.
Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet SauvignonAustralia Wine Australia (Australian Wine and Brandy Corporation) | Australian Wines (Wikipedia)South Australia South Australian Wine Industry Association | South Australian Wines (Wikipedia)Fleurieu Fleurieu Wineries & Cellar Doors (southaustralia.com)Langhorne CreekLanghorne Creek information Wikipedia article Langhorne Creek Wine Industry Council |
