| Community Tasting Notes (average 93.5 pts. and median of 93 pts. in 14 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by Janda_42 on 2/7/2024 & rated 93 points: Eye: Deep yellow verging on a coppery-orange.
Nose: Honey-Meade, gluey esters. Beautiful; unbelievably Sauternes-like.
Palate: Honey, toast, peach liqueur. The wine has lovely warmth and verve. The acidity is perfectly integrated. Light melon and passion fruit. More glue and esters. Some whipped cream.
Finish: Long. Lots of peach and pear. Faint lingering toastiness. This all resolves into lingering acidity and a hint of meatiness.
Overall: To reference another commenter, this is nectar; a wine I want to keep drinking and drinking and drinking. Rich and sweet but not overdone. Incredible bouquet. A small pour is enough, but no pour would be a shame. (544 views) | | Tasted by Bellalisa99 on 9/26/2021 & rated 95 points: Delicious. (771 views) | | Tasted by goodvitis.com on 12/7/2020 & rated 94 points: The sweet, tropical nose offers boisterous peach, candied mango, orange creamsicle, white tea, and Sprite. Full bodied with gorgeously smooth and thick acid that envelops the mouth in silkiness before piercing the finish with crispness. The very sweet palate includes flavors of yellow peach, orange marmalade, Angle Food cake, guava, and salmon berry. This is downright delicious, but I imagine will do cool things in ten to twenty years. (930 views) | | Tasted by isaacjamesbaker on 11/25/2020 & rated 93 points: Rich yellow color. An explosion of peachy goodness on the nose with guava, orange marmalade, candied ginger, white tea and honey. Plush texture on the palate, with moderating acidity, a rich and honeyed texture, with guava and orange marmalade, yellow plums. Delicious tones of candied ginger, almond cake, unctuous yet shows vibrancy underneath. This is a delicious and complex wine, and the first harvest of this Sauv Blanc from the Maefield Vineyard Merry planted in 2015. An exceptional holiday choice or bury it in the cellar. (765 views) | | Tasted by Wine_Poobah on 11/13/2020 & rated 95 points: This is the first vintage of Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc from Merry Edwards’ Maefield Vineyard planted in 2015. Fear not — this is just as delicious as previous vintages despite the new vineyard.
White flowers, peach, nectarine, and stonefruit aromas. Pear, peach and pineapple flavors with a hint of tangerine on the finish. Syrupy sweet but balanced by excellent acidity. Highly complex and dangerously delicious!
Hold or drink. It’s delicious now, but I will wait a few months before opening another one. This will cruise in the cellar. (563 views) |

| Merry Edwards Producer websiteSauvignon Blanc Varietal CharacterLate HarvestjhtUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Sonoma CountyMendocino CountyRussian River Valley Russian River Valley Winegrowers Association | Wikipedia |
