Community Tasting Notes (average 92.8 pts. and median of 93 pts. in 24 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by NostraBacchus on 9/23/2023 & rated 93 points: Medium golden color. Explosive, ripe, but with that signature Jura mineral-coolness. Notes of citrus, yellow fruit, some matchstick too, there is plenty of wet stone and chalk minerality, also some sweet spices, honey and the oak is a touch recognizable at this very early stage, also some white flowers and cammomile. Medium-full bodied, deep and powerful, with a medium-high acidity cutting through the richness. There is also some tannin adding structure and grip. Long finish with plenty of complexity. A superb Jura Chardonnay from this great producer, a little riper than the 2016 I recently had, but nevertheless very beautiful. (93+)
I might have been a little stingy on my rating, but the 2016 set the bar really high. On day 2 this is showing even better. (1237 views)
Tasted by CamWheeler on 5/31/2023 & rated 92 points: Samples from Bill #5: A touch warmer on the nose here versus the other 2018 Tissot next to it - peach and pear, honey and lemon. Palate doesn't show as much roundness, leaning leaner and more driven with sparkly acidity and a clean finish. Feels like it's a bit in between the style of the other two Tissot Chard in the flight.  Tasted by Vas19 on 1/29/2023: Quite a dark golden color for a 5 year old wine. Complex nose of toasted nuts and sherry. The palate is intense, but the alcohol on the finish is noticeable, and there is a touch of mouse which I dont think I've gotten from tissot before. Based on other notes I wonder if this is an off bottle (1641 views)
Tasted by SMHalps on 12/28/2022 & rated 93 points: No change from my previous note. A big hit with my wine group. Those that don't care for Chardonnay were blown away by this. (1377 views)
Tasted by MichaelSy on 9/10/2022 & rated 98 points: Outstanding. Tasting notes below me do it better justice. In my opinion, very good QPR. (1786 views)
Tasted by melvinyeowq on 9/5/2022 & rated 92 points: Loire / Jura night: On opening this had a little too much alcohol and tropical fruits, but settled to show more restrained yellow citrus fruit. Love Tissot's wines for their balance between power and tension, and this showed beautifully for a warmer vintage. Believe this was voted to be the favourite, marginally ahead of the Aviet.  Tasted by Karoline.phillips on 9/4/2022 & rated 93 points: At first, sharp nose of apple and gooseberry, overripe lemon with vegetal undertones (fennel? Cooked asparagus?) and a hint of soured cream. On the palate lime mellowing out to unripe apricot and apple skin. Long. After some time, opens up to a quite different proposition. Tropical fruit but not of the sweet kind (think guava or lychee), nutty, spicy on the nose. Plate becomes rounded and clearly vanilla, with a citrusy tingling at the end. Just wonderful as an example of Jura. (1219 views)
Tasted by charlesryder on 6/23/2022 & rated 93 points: Excellent! (1232 views)
Tasted by Xavier Auerbach on 4/26/2022 & rated 92 points: A private lunch (Restaurant Clown Bar, Paris, France): Biodynamic viticulture, clay on marnes bleues, southern exposure. Quite a rich and broad style (14.5% ABV) but fresh and minerally, tropical fruit but also nutty and earthy notes, quite a lot of oak, grippy bitters, very good resonance and length. Not much finesse at present, quite a bruiser but should develop well. (1872 views)
Tasted by SMHalps on 2/16/2022 & rated 93 points: Tropical flavors with a saline finish. Really food friendly. My entire wine group loved this wine. (1269 views)
Tasted by lonesomerockguy on 2/8/2022: Au Bouchon with JL, KH, Jelena. Fresh with reductive zesty nose, opened up tropical. Solid (1287 views)
Tasted by Palisades57 on 12/16/2021: Interesting but seemed disjointed and kind of fell apart at the end. Drank it about 10 days after having it shipped to me, so may be my issue. Hence no score. (1222 views)
Tasted by Zweder on 11/8/2021 & rated 92 points: Gang of 4 in Covid19 times; Some random wines. (@ RW): In the bouquet and on the palate minerals, toasted oak, good acidity and some pleasant sweetness. Good length. (1297 views)
Tasted by ludwigbpm on 7/4/2021 & rated 93 points: Très ouvert et moins réduit dans ce millésime chaud. Exubérant, belle texture presque crémeuse, finalement assez longue sur les fruits confits. Excellent. (1823 views)
Tasted by joshabramson on 5/9/2021 & rated 94 points: I really enjoyed this a lot. Sharp, crisp and lean. (1669 views)
Tasted by Bartondude on 1/4/2021: Very sharp with nose tingling acidity. Key lime pie and grapefruit zest pierce the nostrils, and is accented by some faint dry grass. Taste bud pucker under the vertical tartness of it in your mouth, reminds me of Hubert Lamy St Aubin, but more wild. Finishes broader with salty chalk and smoke overlaying some green Apple skin. Jura

A petite and relatively obscure wine region in eastern France, between Burgundy and the Swiss border. Its geographical isolation has helped it to remain a rare bastion of traditional winemaking techniques, and today it produces some of the most distinctive wines in the world. Reds from the Jura are often light-bodied, earthy, berried, and reminiscent of the village wines of Burgundy (though here they are made of local grapes like Poulsard and Trousseau). While Chardonnay features widely, the true specialty of the region is the Vin Jaune (“yellow wine”) made from the white Savagnin grape. Cloudy, difficult Vin Jaune is made only in the best vintages, and must be aged for at least six years before being released. As it ages under a layer of yeast, known locally as “voile,” the wine slowly oxidizes, leading to complex aromas and flavors that range from walnut skin to sultana to spices and truffles. Famously long lived it is always sold in dumpy 62 cl bottle - the wine lost in production having been taken by les anges.
