Tasted by sstein19 on 4/6/2023 & rated 92 points: Light gold in color. Nose of yeast and sourdough bread. Light lemon with cream flavors. (915 views)
Tasted by Mortgage92 on 2/14/2023 & rated 92 points: Was it the extra time in the bottle OR was the first bottle I had of this wine not as pleasant? For whatever reason this wine exceeded my expectations...pleasant aromas of slight floral and lemon; flavors of sharp, crisp lemon, vanilla and melon. I will definitely give this vineyard another try and perhaps this vintage...I'm curious now. Feed back appreciated. Drinking very well now, but I can easily see another 2-3 years in bottle without a drop in flavors or aroma. (945 views)
Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 9/28/2022: A little earthy funk to it. On the nose. Palate is a bit flabby. Oh hey, its actually the J. Schram. Predominantly Chardonnay. A little bit of shifting of labels here. The Reserve will become the Noirs. Here, 8 years on the lees, prior to disgorgement. (1996 views)
Tasted by td1836 on 11/22/2020 & rated 91 points: Lemon custard, racy acidity, lively bubbles, tart and dry. (2983 views)
Tasted by Griffeyfan04 on 7/19/2020 & rated 93 points: Really superb bottle out of a mag that had lots of mousse and fizzy fine bubbles on the tongue. Feel like this is in a perfect spot to drink right now (3059 views)
Tasted by domco on 12/1/2019: While always good, wanted to set one aside for a couple years to see the impact and I think it was positive. Still bright and crisp but rounded out the edges just a bit to make it even better. (2997 views)
Tasted by Baron Slick on 11/24/2019 & rated 92 points: Fourth and last bottle from my stash. This has evolved beautifully since my last bottle in 2017. Still bright and lively but now with bottle age complexity to the racy citrus, stonefruit, and grove fruit flavors. Finishes candied, textural, and expressive. (2561 views)
Tasted by vinolovers on 3/30/2019 & rated 95 points: A terrific bottle! Nice light yellow coloring. Clean with a hint of apple, lemon-lime and a hint of toast. A nice crisp finish that lingered! (2992 views)
Tasted by markricardo on 10/26/2018 & rated 91 points: This is one of the best US sparkling wines that I have tried. In a blind tasting I would think is was from Champagne. Clean crisp with excellent acidity and medium body. Not the longest finish but more than enough for a good wine. A hint of bready, leesiness helped give the wine nice depth. Very nice wine for around $30. (2770 views)
Tasted by Mark V on 8/18/2018 & rated 87 points: Good Chard based Blanc de Blanc but not much body or finish (2735 views)
Tasted by PT insurgent on 3/30/2018: Really quite nice for the price I think. Not much depth but still plenty of freshness. Notes of citrus, green apple, white peach, a hint of toast and brioche but not much autolysis. Aging very nicely. (3300 views)
Tasted by phattyjrb on 1/1/2018 & rated 91 points: How you do New Year’s Eve right (3262 views)
Tasted by galaxie500 on 11/23/2017 & rated 92 points: enjoyed before and during Thanksgiving dinner.

Yummy (3371 views)
Tasted by Nutty08 on 11/4/2017: Really solid. Fine mouse with a nice cut. Only had a fleeting taste. (3057 views)
Tasted by fred o. on 10/30/2017: From half bottle. Light golden color, good persistent bubbles. Nose rounded apples, palate good fruits, apples and bright acidity, off-dry in a pleasant way. 91 pts (3251 views)
Tasted by Loren Sonkin on 9/27/2017 & rated 92 points: California Chardonnay (Trent's): Very nice. Every time I have a Cal Sparkler like this, I wonder why I don't drink more. Pale yellow in color. A fair amount of small bubbles.
The nose has a lemon "Chuckles" candy note to it which is nice. Slight toast and bits of green apples. On the palate, lemony with good acidity. Long finish. This rounds out a bit with air but has enough cut and is quite delicious. Went back to it later in the evening and was even a bit better. Worked well with honey and blue cheese. (3401 views)
Tasted by John Dunlap on 9/9/2017 & rated 89 points: In the effort toward full transparency: Retuned from 10 days in Champagne and wanted to open a bottle of CA sparkling wine to continue in the spirit of our holiday.

OK, the wine is a bit one dimensional and mostly reveals green apple flavors and a high level of acidity. It lacks subtly. Very little yeast-like flavors suggesting only limited aging on the lees prior to bottling. Could have used a gram or two more of RS as well. It's nice, but was hoping for a broader flavor profile and better acidic balance. (2657 views)
Tasted by td1836 on 7/3/2017 & rated 91 points: Light and refreshing, lemon, yeast, pear. (2681 views)
Tasted by rocknroller on 6/21/2017 & rated 92 points: Coulda been the whiskey, mighta been the gin, coulda been the 34 Denali views but either way this was really good. Light gold, aggressive fine bead. Split bottle with an outstanding dinner at the Alpenglow Restaurant at the Grand Denali Lodge. Eating with a splendid view of Denali National Park at 10pm under brilliant bright blue skies at 10pm on the summer solistice. Capping off a great day this was lovely with plenty of good yeastiness up front followed by crisp pear and lemongrass and lemon accents. The palate presents medium bodied, pear, yeast, lemon, a bit chalk like, fresh and energetic. Wonderful, 91+ to 92pts. (3109 views)
Tasted by Asmiller on 6/3/2017 & rated 92 points: Bright and light with good acidity. Super easy to drink. (2672 views)
Tasted by Baron Slick on 4/24/2017 & rated 90 points: The lemon-lime, stonefruit, and yeast notes were just as candied and lifted as before, but this seemed to lack the freshness and verve of the last two bottles. It was still solid and tasty if somewhat linear this go around. (2641 views)
Tasted by Mech-E on 3/22/2017 & rated 90 points: Yeasty, medium body, medium bubbles bordering on chunky. Lime and sour apples make this a fun drinker. See no reason to hold. (2692 views)
Tasted by Baron Slick on 3/14/2017 & rated 92 points: Pretty close to the bottle I had last summer. The green apple, stonefruit, and citrus fruit has a candied edge but bottle age has enhanced the yeast and brioche aspect. Racy, vibrant, and nicely textured. A little fuller than I remember. Excellent lift, length, and perlage. Always a treat. (2215 views)
Tasted by studleytrey on 2/25/2017 & rated 88 points: The wife popped this while I was out surfing, so I guess I better have some and note it...I'm drinking this out of a nice Burgundy stem FWTW, as that's what I have here. Medium yellow color. Stony aromas of river rock, seashells, lime, mineral, and yeast. Pretty consistent on the palate with medium body, acid, and finish, though there's lingering minerality. This would be perfect with raw bar. (2343 views)
Tasted by wiscgrad on 1/4/2017 & rated 92 points: very little experience with bubbles, but one of the better sparklers I've had. (2348 views)

Chardonnay

The Chardonnay Grape

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson

North Coast

The North Coast American Viticultural Area (AVA) in California, covering more than three million acres, includes Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake counties, and portions of Marin and Solano counties. (see The Wine Institute for more information)
