Tasted by TZ58 on 4/7/2024 & rated 90 points: Great zin. No pepper! Very smooth with a great finish. (139 views)
Tasted by fitchbuck on 2/17/2024 & rated 93 points: @ Arch Cape VRBO: Absolute stunner again, cheers to this team for putting out WA's best zin. This is now *the go-to* varietal for pizza pairing over merlot. (271 views)
Tasted by TZ58 on 12/2/2023 & rated 91 points: Best Washington zin out there. Smooth with great finish. No pepper in this Zin. (304 views)
Tasted by cacastine on 10/30/2023 & rated 92 points: The richness, balance, clean silky mouth feel, depth of fruit and rich soil and light earthy notes...just a really great under the radar young wine. Washington is an incredibly under rated wine producing region right now in my opinion. (340 views)
Tasted by TZ58 on 9/16/2023 & rated 92 points: So good and smooth. Morgan continues to produce a fantastic zin. Best in Washington (441 views)
Tasted by jwilliams6 on 9/6/2023 & rated 92 points: Deep purple with moderate extraction and heavy tearing. Rich and jammy blackberry, black plum, cherry. Exotic spices, licorice. On the palate, very rich, fruity, and earthy. Ripe fruit and fruit juice. Alcoholic heat is very present. Finish is mod+, not overly complex. Overall, very classic Zin. Jammy, alcoholic, fruity. Great with food. (424 views)
Tasted by ibglowin on 8/18/2023 & rated 92 points: OMG, anyone who says this is a "bland" Zin has no taste buds or palette. This is a Zin on steroids. Could have laid down for another 5 years in the cellar. Can't say that for many Cali-Zins that are already fading out after this amount of time. This has plenty of mouthfeel to go the distance. Serve cool so the ABV is kept in check/balance but it does get even better with 30-50mins of air time. Would buy a case if I had known it was this good. 5 Star QPR for sure. Well done Morgan Lee! (434 views)
Tasted by cacastine on 7/6/2023 & rated 92 points: Really great wine and QPR - dark fruits, flowers, light tobacco, concentrated, full bodied, perfect drinking age, peppery fine tannin, long satisfying finish of ripe fruit and lilac and pepper. One of my favorite Zinfandel and at this price - hard to not love it. Easy buy anytime I pass through the store. (383 views)
Tasted by Charlesaf3 on 6/4/2023 & rated 85 points: Pretty bland zin. Not at all what I look for in a Zin which is some of the turley's or sidebar. Nothing wrong but nothing interesting either I would not buy this again (406 views)
Tasted by cacastine on 5/31/2023 & rated 91 points: Drank with friends/socially so not much thought given to notes...but this is a really great Zin that opened up nicely and got more complex throughout a couple hours. Characteristic strong deep ripe dark fruits and some floral qualities that were nice, with some earthy/tobacco developing. Will look for more. Great QPR. (308 views)
Tasted by TZ58 on 5/6/2023 & rated 92 points: Best zin in Washington, every vintage with few exceptions. They don’t produce a lot so you need to search it out. Reminds me of a California old vine zin only better. Same grapes mechanically picked are labeled under the city limits brand. No pepper finish. Very smooth. This vintage can sit for another 5 years easily but great to drink now. (358 views)
Tasted by TZ58 on 4/22/2023 & rated 90 points: Smooth and easy to drink as with all 2V zin years since we started drinking them in 2014. If you like zin then this is your bottle! (322 views)
Tasted by fitchbuck on 1/28/2023 & rated 92 points: always great, and probably the best zin from WA. (357 views)
Tasted by TZ58 on 12/17/2022 & rated 92 points: So smooth. Great Washington zin (433 views)
Tasted by RBurgundy99 on 10/15/2022 & rated 92 points: Exact opposite experience of the prior reviewer. Had this alongside a Ridge zin, and the ridge (which I generally love) was solidly in second place. (452 views)
Tasted by Quaffable on 6/24/2022 & rated 85 points: Was surprised after reading the other reviews. We did not recognize it as a zin rather seemed like a generic table wine. No off smells or flavors, but nothing distinctive either. A CA zin beside it reassured us our nose and taste buds were still working. (493 views)
Tasted by BRR on 7/9/2021 & rated 90 points: If you want a delicious, fruit-forward but with depth and interest, this is for you. Despite its 16.5% alcohol (wowza!), this really didn't come across as boozy somehow. Boysenberry, raspberry liquor, a little underlying spice, this is all about the fruit. Drink now. (942 views)
Tasted by fitchbuck on 6/4/2021 & rated 92 points: Again, just crazy good zin from this label -- its their best wine.

Appropriately paired with spicy thai on day one, but then even better on night three with pizza. (891 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

Washington Wine
Washington State is a premium wine producing region located in the northwest corner of the United States. Although a relatively young wine industry, it is now the nation's second largest wine producer and is ranked among the world's top wine regions. Washington wines are found nationally in all 50 states and internationally in more than 40 countries.

Wineries
With 30,000+ acres planted, the state has ideal geography and conditions for growing premium vinifera wine grapes. Primarily grown on their own root stocks, the vines produce grapes of consistent quality, resulting in strong vintages year after year. While its focus is on Chardonnay, Riesling, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, the region also produces a wide range of other spectacular whites and reds.

Growers
Winemakers from all over the world have chosen to establish themselves in Washington, where they can create wines reflecting this region's unique characteristics. Their hand-crafted wines are receiving wide acclaim from critics regionally, nationally and internationally for their consistently high quality. Many of them have received scores of 90 and above from the major wine media. Overall this is a higher percentage than other leading wine regions.

Regions
As the state's fourth largest fruit crop, the Washington wine industry is an important contributor to the long-term preservation of Washington agriculture. The industry is committed to sustainable agricultural practices and conservation of water resources.

Varieties
Washington produces more than 20 wine grape varieties - a ratio of 56 percent white to 44 percent red. As the industry matures and experiments, it finds many grape varieties that thrive throughout Washington's microclimates. There are more than 16,000 vineyard acres of red wine varieties statewide.

History & Vintages
Washington's wine future is limitless. As consumers discover the quality of Washington wines, demand continues to grow nationally and internationally. New acreage and wine varietals are being planted and new wineries are opening at a remarkable pace. Washington State is recognized as a premium viticultural region around the world.

State Facts
Washington's wine industry generates more than $3 billion to the state economy. It employs more than 14,000 people, directly and indirectly, with projections to add nearly 2,000 more jobs by 2006. In terms of tax revenues accrued to the state and federal government, wine grapes are among the highest tax generators of any agricultural crops. Furthermore, Washington wine tourism attracts nearly two million visitors annually contributing to the positive growth of local and regional economies.
Washington State - the perfect climate for wine = ideal growing conditions, quality wines, business innovation, lifestyle, and social responsibility. All are key elements of this world-class wine industry.

Vintages
"2008 and even more so 2010 and 2011 were cool, even cold vintages (think: 2002 in the Barossa) without the extreme ripeness, extract and higher alcohol that had become the norm in the state’s post 1995 world. 2008 was manageable but the duo of 2010/2011 nearly caused a “great depression” in Washington State." - Jon Rimmerman

Columbia Valley

Columbia Cascade Winery Association

The Columbia Valley AVA lies mostly in Washington state, with a small section in Oregon. The Cascade Range forms its western boundary with the Palouse regions bordering the area to the east. To the north, the Okanogan National Forest forms a border with the AVA and Canada. It encompasses the valleys formed by the Columbia River and its tributaries, including the Walla Walla River, the Snake River, and the Yakima River. The Columbia valley stretches between the 46th parallel and 47th parallel which puts it in line with the well known French wine growing regions of Bordeaux and Burgundy. The northern latitude gives the areas two more hours of additional daylight during the summer growing season than wine regions of California receive. The volcanic and sandy loam soil of the valley offers good drainage and is poor in nutrients, ideal in forcing the vine to concentrate its resources into the grape clusters.
