I was impressed by the multiple layers of flavors. (206 views) | | Tasted by Tabergman on 10/1/2023 & rated 92 points: Very nice, especially after a little air. Medium body. Bit of funk on nose, but blew off quickly. Bright acidity and medium tannins, probably could have gone a few more years. (204 views) | | Tasted by JM_MadTown on 5/13/2023 & rated 91 points: Nice dark red, luscious fruits, very savory with Asian spices, good minerality and a full mouthfeel. It’s quite delicious and a joy to drink. (243 views) | | Tasted by JM_MadTown on 4/4/2023 & rated 91 points: Same notes as recent bottles. (254 views) | | Tasted by JM_MadTown on 3/8/2023 & rated 92 points: Just opened this bottle. As before, it has lots of luscious berry fruit, including cherry, raspberry and strawberry, combined with some savory notes, even a little garrique, black pepper and Asian spices. (273 views) | | Tasted by JM_MadTown on 10/6/2022 & rated 91 points: A very nice Rhone style wine from Oregon. Lots of dark red fruit, good acidity and a medium finish. (303 views) | | Tasted by The Drunken Cyclist on 7/13/2022 & rated 91 points: Retail $35. 84% Syrah, 16% Grenache. Under DIAM10. I have been sampling Troon for many years now and as I have stated in practically each review, the wines just keep getting better. This is no doubt due to Craig Camp's (the GM at Troon) laser focus on transforming the vineyard and winery into a model for biodynamic farming and responsible winemaking. This wine was a bit closed upon opening but eventually the fruit and spice peeked out, and also showed up on the palate. I think I caught it in a dumb phase as it is just not that expressive right now, but I can see glimpses of what JIB saw in this wine.

Lots of luscious berry fruit, including cherry, raspberry and strawberry, combined with some savory notes, even a little garrique, black pepper and Asian spices. I believe the blend is 84% Syrah and 16% grenache. (318 views) | | Tasted by isaacjamesbaker on 11/13/2021 & rated 93 points: Vibrant purple color. Wow, so fresh on the nose with this chilled raspberry, cherry and strawberry fruit, along with these airy tones of flowers and crushed chalk, and spicier tones of pepper and mulling spices. Zesty and dusty on the palate with crisp acidity and a focused appeal. The red cherries, cranberry and raspberry fruit is lively and crisp, and mixed well with black pepper, violets, and complex leather and beefy tones. Wow this is gorgeous stuff. Unique, airy, lifted, yet deep and complex. 84% Syrah, 16% Grenache, 12.7% alcohol. (419 views) | | Tasted by LMArcher on 10/1/2021: Dark garnet robe. LB, red fruit, beautiful balance. Bright acids. Red currant, pomegranate, red plum notes. Lovely. (357 views) |
| Troon Vineyard Producer websiteRed Blend.USAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.Oregon Oregon Wine, Oregon Wineries (Oregon Wine Board) |
