Community Tasting Notes (average 87 pts. and median of 87 pts. in 7 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by NikOls on 9/8/2023 & rated 86 points: A decent bistro wine that fits most situations but without shining anywhere.
Had it over several days but it was best on day 1 with a distinct aroma of cranberry juice. The taste had more facets where the cranberries were accompanied by sour cherries and purple plums. When chilled there was a note of green bell peppers among the fruit.
Pretty good acidity that kept it fresh on day 2 and 3 even though the aromatics faded. Low to moderate tannins.
Remeniscient of a cab franc but felt slightly diluted. (262 views)
Tasted by ocassiuso on 7/17/2023: Bottle a praiseworthy 1143g. Moderately intense aromas of tart red fruit, fresh like Cab Franc or whole-cluster Syrah (it's Braucol aka Fer Servadou). Dry, with moderate fresh acidity, low to moderate grippy tannins, medium-bodied, 12.5% abv. Riper, darker fruit on the palate, with a sense of richness despite the lower alcohol, but fresh at the same time. Not especially long or complex, but pleasing. (266 views)
Tasted by AMC Eagle on 5/14/2023 & rated 90 points: Slow ox'ed for over an hour. Medium purple-ruby in colour. Nose of spiced red cherries with some red and black currants and a hint of raspberry jam. On the palate, red berry notes are noticed with a touch of spiciness and black peppers at the end; a bit of vegetal notes similar to cab franc is detected. Medium bodied with a short+ finish. My first time tasting this grape variety and such an easy going drink. (364 views)
Tasted by forceberry on 5/5/2023 & rated 87 points: 100% Fér Servadou from vineyards that are 25 years old in average. Macerated with the skins for 15-20 days, aged in stainless steel. 12,5% alcohol. Tasted blind.

Youthful, moderately translucent ruby-red color with a slightly blueish hue. The nose feels youthful, quite primary and a bit reductive with aromas of ripe raspberries and strawberry jelly, some peppery tones, a little bit of gunpowder smoke, light cherry nuances, a hint of bilberries and a touch of earthy spice. The wine is youthful, fresh and pretty primary on the palate with a medium body and fruit-forward flavors of bilberries and brambly raspberries, some stony mineral tones, a little bit of strawberry jelly, light peppery tones, a hint of crunchy crowberry and a touch of sour cherry bitterness. The structure relies almost entirely on the high acidity as the light, supple tannins come across as almost nonexistent. The finish is juicy, youthful and pretty straightforward with bright flavors of blueberries and brambly raspberries, some primary notes of strawberry jellies, light stony mineral notes, a little bit of sour cherry bitterness and a hint of cranberry sauce. The tannins make the wine end on a slightly grippy note.

A nice, clean and vibrant little red. Perhaps a bit too primary and maybe slightly too simplistic in character to be truly interesting, but works nicely as an unambitious everyday wine. Could use a bit more age to lose that youthful edge and sense of reduction from the nose - although an hour or two of aeration might help as well. Superb value at just 8€. (721 views)
Tasted by platpeeps on 4/18/2023 & rated 85 points: Fresh with sour cherry and raspberry infused with iron. Pleasing tannins gave way to a harsh metallic bitterness which was rather off-putting. CHP 85 pts (367 views)
Tasted by rmh66 on 2/11/2023 & rated 87 points: Plums, red cherries, herbs and vegetation, raspberries, graphite, and a touch of smoke on the nose. Plums, tart cherry, red cherry, earth, and herbs on the palate. Nice acidity, fine but firm-ish tannins, medium finish. Nice rustic wine that works great with food. Had some nice sheep's cheese and it was fantastic. (308 views)
Tasted by Vlademot on 10/26/2022: Fer servadou, aka mansois, is the grape behind the lifeblood (sang) of the steep, iron-rich slopes of the Aveyron in south-west France. Ruby-red, full in this exceptional vintage and rounded with raspeberry and plum flavours to wash down a good saucisson. (323 views)
