| Community Tasting Notes (average 89.4 pts. and median of 90 pts. in 8 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by A1002 on 2/23/2023 & rated 90 points: Starts with massive cassis aromas. Then comes a more subtle herbal, underbrush and mineral nose.
Quite astringent on the palate which lends balance to the berry fruit. Softens on day 2. Great for tomato-based italian food. (443 views) | | Tasted by Moorsie on 1/19/2023 & rated 90 points: This is a great wine for the price, however, needs some time in the glass. PNP, beginning nose was very earthy, barnyard, and the wine seemed to be very tight. Used an aerator, which made some difference. However, after about 15 mins in the glass it really started to come alive, with some spice on the front palate and then fruit mid and on the finish. I was not sure about this one due to the rave reviews on the upper level from this producer, but I'm glad I bought it. I think it will easily age a few more years as well. (494 views) | | Tasted by isaacjamesbaker on 1/5/2023 & rated 89 points: Deep purple color. Spicy nose showing earth, tobacco and mint, with deep elements of blackberries and currants, some chocolate and coffee tones as well. Full on the palate, a chewy feel balanced by lively acidity. Saucy currant and roasted plum fruit blends well with cocoa, coffee grounds, tobacco, mint. The earthy, spicy and mushroom tones come out with time. Fun, fresh, but shows a solid amount of complexity. A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. (607 views) | | Tasted by LMArcher on 1/1/2023: Deep blue-garnet robe. Dusty blue and dark red fruit, anise, fennel sea breeze nose. Dark blue and red plum, mocha, red cherry notes. LB, acids on attack, silky tannins mid palate thru finish, nice balance. A Noble wine. U.S. Importer (Addt'l Info)Aia Vecchia Lagone Toscana IGT Aia Vecchia Lagone all vintagesRed Bordeaux BlendRed Bordeaux is generally made from a blend of grapes. Permitted grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and rarely Carménère.Today Carménère is rarely used, with Château Clerc Milon, a fifth growth Bordeaux, being one of the few to still retain Carménère vines. As of July 2019, Bordeaux wineries authorized the use of four new red grapes to combat temperature increases in Bordeaux. These newly approved grapes are Marselan, Touriga Nacional, Castets, and Arinarnoa.
Wineries all over the world aspire to making wines in a Bordeaux style. In 1988, a group of American vintners formed The Meritage Association to identify wines made in this way. Although most Meritage wines come from California, there are members of the Meritage Association in 18 states and five other countries, including Argentina, Australia, Canada, Israel, and Mexico.Italy Italian Wines (ItalianMade.com, The Italian Trade Commission) | Italian Wine Guide on the WineDoctorTuscany Tuscany (ItalianMade.com) | TuscanytToscana IGTHere is the Wikipedia entry for Toscana wine. |
