Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 89.7 pts. and median of 90 pts. in 11 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by wbduval on 1/9/2014 & rated 90 points: I expected this wine to past drinking window based on the community drink by (2009 - cleaning out on overdue dates), but was very surprised as it's drinking wonderfully now. Fruit is balanced, with a medium (-) finish and relatively low acidity. Probably drinkable for another 2 years. (1592 views)
Tasted by norsktorsk on 5/17/2012 & rated 90 points: Very nice and balanced. Rich. Finish not long. (2235 views)
Tasted by rjm56 on 1/30/2011 & rated 88 points: Start drinking this now- nicely integrated very easy drinking (3058 views)
Tasted by Ellenkf on 10/10/2010: not much on the finish but structured well, a little sparkly, spice, interesting food wine or cocktail wine that keeps you guessing what's in it (2733 views)
Tasted by TrevorCandelino on 12/10/2009: same as before....top of their game right now....good stuff... (4142 views)
Tasted by TrevorCandelino on 10/29/2009: whoah, was that cheeseburger on the nose? weird.

Nice wine, much better than I remembered. I have three more - think I'll power through them soon because they are drinking well now. (2956 views)
Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 4/28/2009: I would say this is at its best right now.

Really good right now having been left on the table for one day half way drunk. (1668 views)
Tasted by nzinkgraf on 1/31/2009: that nose is a laser. you can taste the acidity on the nose. deep cherry and blackberry. big tannic wine. chewy. steak wine.
nose becomes softer and aromatic. lead pencil on revisit. must be the carignan. (1693 views)
Tasted by jusuf on 1/2/2009 & rated 93 points: Very drinkable. Multi-layered strong fruit in the nose. Slightly sweet on the palate. Compliments. (53 views)
Tasted by Nutty08 on 7/10/2008 & rated 87 points: Meaty barnyard nose, bit of oak. Palate is fine and warm with some dark cherry , finish is medium length. Medium complexity. OK Pinot, easy drinking, didn't differentiate itself from the typical Cali style. (1704 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
