Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 91 pts. and median of 91 pts. in 115 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by Mike6743 on 5/7/2024 & rated 90 points: Flavors showing more terroir than I expected, more grass and field with tangerine and fruit. (265 views)
Tasted by Big Juicy Red on 5/4/2024: A little harsh at first, but mellows out after an hour. Good flavor intensity of cut grass, grapefruit and other citrus notes, and just a hint of cat pee (but not in a bad way). Flavors are distinct, complexity is moderate plus, finish is moderate plus. I think I’m just not a big fan of NZ Sauvignon Blanc. (402 views)
Tasted by ziavino on 5/2/2024 & rated 90 points: Ripe and assertive, with gobs of fruit throughout. Notes of grapefruit, lemon, pineapple, and gooseberry lead the way, with grapefruit winning out and lingering on the puckery finish. Good purity of fruit here, well made, and a nice patio pounder or pairing with seafood. But there's no scenario where this is a 95 point wine and top 10 of the year (per Wine Spectator). (542 views)
Tasted by FredericoWines on 4/27/2024 & rated 91 points: Grassy. Star fruit, kiwi, pineapple and lime. A bit fruity sweet. (542 views)
Tasted by tfaunt on 4/14/2024 & rated 90 points: Excellent NZ SB. Vivid nose with a slightly thin palate but still one of the best I've tried. (1020 views)
Tasted by burlingtonm on 3/21/2024 & rated 92 points: Greywacke definitely produces high end NZ sauvignon blanc without the typical grassy, gooseberry notes. Good acidity, balance and persistence so a pleasure to drink before dinner on a warm evening. (1338 views)
Tasted by Jonnhy99 on 3/4/2024 & rated 93 points: #10 on Wine Spectator's Wine of the Year list. A good thing this came out at the LCBO before the list dropped or it wouldn't have been so cheap.

Lovely aromas of elderflower, honey, butter, hay, & passion fruit. The aromas except for the flowers showed up on the tongue in a subtle yet delicious way along with lemon, & pepper. Great acidity to go with the medium plus finish.

The folks at Greywacke don't miss, their Riesling was fantastic now this. Amazing food & snack wine especially with semi-soft cheese & fig jam. (1761 views)
Tasted by Duncan on 3/3/2024 & rated 92 points: Another irresistible bottle of Greywacke Sauv Blanc. Pristine, citrussy, refreshing, persistent, linear, balanced: these are just a few of the adjectives that fail to do justice to the joy of drinking it. Screwcap, 13.5%. (1487 views)
Tasted by AD_jutant on 3/2/2024 & rated 88 points: This is interesting overall, way less ripe than usual Marlborough SB, very pristine and without over the head ammonia. However, this isn’t my favourite expression and to me it seemed a little one-sided to be a great wine.

Very pristine and crystal clear nose. Rhubarb, a lot of gooseberry, and lime. A touch of jalapeño. I do not get a lot of tropical fruits, maybe distant pineapple. Ammonia and a little ozone, river rocks. This isn’t overwhelming but to be honest, it also isn’t incredibly complex.
On the palate, it is dry and the high acidity dominates. Jalapeños and grassy quality come to the forefront. Lemon juice and some gooseberry.
The finish is defined by the lingering acidity and gooseberry.
8+/18 (1406 views)
Tasted by GAT on 3/2/2024 & rated 93 points: Best NZ SB I recall; and durable to Day 4 with it. Lovely acid balance. (1317 views)
Tasted by P.L.A. on 2/23/2024 & rated 93 points: In der Nase dominieren exotische Früchte mit sehr präsenten Maracuja-Noten und etwas Ananas.
(1440 views)
Tasted by cweiner on 2/10/2024 & rated 90 points: Great QPR (1233 views)
Tasted by smoothiek on 2/8/2024:
(1203 views)
Tasted by df1962 on 2/8/2024 & rated 92 points: PnP.

Bright guava passionfruit touch of herb. Racy finish. Awesome as always. (1187 views)
Tasted by WineGuyFL on 1/29/2024 & rated 90 points: This bottle was OK both in a general sense and in relation to its price point. However, it was well off from earlier bottles. All of the bottles were purchased together and properly stored in the same place. Sometimes wine can be a real mystery. (1545 views)
Tasted by sababa1022 on 1/26/2024 & rated 91 points: Interesting. I’m on my third case. It has evolved to the point where it is shut down straight from the bottle. I thought the issue was it was too cold. Turns out it wasn’t the temperature - it just needed air. Then it sang. (1412 views)
Tasted by Claymonster on 1/21/2024 & rated 88 points: Enjoyable enough SB. Good balance of tropical and stone fruit with medium plus acid. Slight hints of greenness and florality that is varietally correct but not over the top like some SB can be. Medium body and a delineated finish that is both refreshing and also able to lure you back for more. But with a price in the upper $20s, it is not a particularly good QPR since you can get the same quality for a bit less. I probably paid more than the average so if you can get this for around the $20 mark, it's worth it. (1573 views)
Tasted by Teknsteel on 1/16/2024 & rated 90 points: Pale straw. Gooseberries and stinging nettles on the nose. Add elderberries on the palate. Bright acidity. Not bad, but perhaps not all that interesting either. (1565 views)
Tasted by cweiner on 1/15/2024 & rated 90 points: Vintage erroneously entered as 2022. It is 2023. (1686 views)
Tasted by Bluecollar on 1/12/2024 & rated 93 points: Improved from my first day after a vacuum closure in the frig for 24 hrs. Very expressive nose of pineapple, honey and floral notes. Flavors burst forward of pineapple, peaches, quince and wet stone or flint. Great acidity pulls this all together. This wine is not boring, and I'm not sure I love it, but it is over the top in a balanced way. I think it could benefit from a year or two since day two was better than day one. (1356 views)
Tasted by on 1/6/2024 & rated 91 points: 맑고 깨끗한 쇼비뇽블랑
향기롭지만 과하진않고
약간은 가볍지만 너무 묽지도않다. (1523 views)
Tasted by GAT on 1/3/2024 & rated 92 points: As before. (1599 views)
Tasted by Scott Shapiro on 1/1/2024 & rated 95 points: Very good, grapefruit / citrus on nose and palate (1510 views)
Tasted by Dpark8 on 12/26/2023 & rated 89 points: Rounded Sauvignon Blanc. Nice body. No piercing acidity (1362 views)
Tasted by WineGuyFL on 12/25/2023 & rated 92 points: Just like an earlier bottle. One of the best values in my wine inventory right now. (1298 views)
