Tasted by bestdamncab on 5/29/2016 & rated 93 points: This was my next to last bottle from a 5 liter bottle bought at the ARF Wine and Whiskers Charity auction last September, donated by the winery for the event. Nose of smoky citrus, minerals, and spring flowers, more of the same on the palate, big body, delicious with the Fleming's Seared Ahi Tuna, both servers commented favorably as did Kathy, my better half, long, flavorful finish.  Tasted by bestdamncab on 5/22/2016 & rated 93 points: We have enjoyed 5 bottles of this over the last 8 days. the suppleness of the French champagne cork and refrigeration has prevented oxidation. Tasting noted the same with smoky citrus fruit and floral aromatics on the nose and palate, terrific aged Chardonnay. Paired well with the roasted turkey. My $245 auction bid yielded almost 7 bottles of wine at an average cost of $35. (635 views)
Tasted by bestdamncab on 5/14/2016 & rated 93 points: This was a 5 liter bottle bought at the ARF Wine and Whiskers Charity auction last September, donated by the winery for the event. I opened the bottle, cork split in two, and poured the wine into a decanter and then into 7 Chardonnay bottles we had saved for this purpose. The 5 liter filled 6 bottles completely and about 2/3 of bottle #7 each finished with a champagne cork. Bottles were immediately refrigerated to reduce oxidation and brought to room temperature two hours before enjoying.
Nose of smoky citrus fruit, mostly mango. peach, and orange, wet slate, and spring flowers, more of the same on the palate, big body, lots of flavors to enjoy especially the smoky character like a Fume Blanc, long, flavorful finish and aftertaste. (610 views)
Tasted by Buck naked on 7/4/2014 & rated 89 points: Very different wine, not very chard like. Has a nose of tropical flower which I can't quite place. Taste is also somewhat tropical and maybe some peach.
Having a hard time nailing this one down. Fairly complex for a white, very smooth going down. I think this is a very good wine! (811 views)
Tasted by Wine.woot_taster on 6/19/2014: I can see why this is the daily drinker for the bossman. It's drinking well, has nice aroma, good flavor, some complexity, good integration and a nice, fairly long finish. Quite a nice wine. (794 views)

The Chardonnay Grape

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
