Clean nose but faint. On the palate it had an indistinct, earthy flavour, like an aging vin ordinaire. Still drinkable but not much more. The nose reminds me somewhat of the 2006 Black Hills Nota Bene, if somewhat less intense. In the mouth, I find this more herbacous than I usually like and slightly austere (perhaps due to the acidity?). I bought one bottle of this wine simply as a trial. On first impressions, I'm not sure I'd buy more, though I'm curious to see whether it shakes that herbaciousness. At the same time, I was tasting this while still recovering somewhat from being ill. Wineries all over the world aspire to making wines in a Bordeaux style. In 1988, a group of American vintners formed The Meritage Association to identify wines made in this way.
