Tasted by salil on 4/16/2013 & rated 90 points: My last bottle and drinking very nicely, though I don't see it getting any better. It comes across mature with a burnished, smoky patina to the ripe citrus and peachy fruit, moderate sweetness balanced by vibrant acids beneath, and it's excellent; refreshing and lovely with slightly spicy food. (3349 views)
Tasted by salil on 1/27/2013 flawed bottle: Corked. (3385 views)
Tasted by salil on 1/20/2013 & rated 90 points: Just like the bottle I enjoyed in December. Drinking very nicely now, though I see no reason to hold this longer. (3419 views)
Tasted by salil on 12/1/2012 & rated 90 points: Comes across a lot more mature than the bottle I had last year; the fruit here has a more savoury, burnished quality to it, framed by developed smoky and creamy flavours. The sweetness isn't as pronounced either, it comes across almost dry with the bright acidity cutting through whatever sweetness there is and is drinking beautifully now (though I won't hold my other bottles too much longer). (3547 views)
Tasted by salil on 6/30/2011 & rated 93 points: The '01 Leitz Rieslings are extraordinary. The 'basic' Klosterlay QbA was staggeringly good a few weeks ago, and this is even better - a spectrum of pale, fresh Riesling fruit over a mineral base with the start of developing creamy elements. Incredibly pure and seamless with the acidity giving it a sensation of real energy and vibrancy. Fantastic wine. (1345 views)
Tasted by indiscriminate palate on 6/30/2011: TTTG (no notes, just rankings): My wine of the night (1/9) and much more balanced and complex than either the 04 or the 09. (3307 views)
Tasted by cweiss on 2/21/2010: Just demi-sec sweetness now. I liked the fruit better when it was younger and more primary. Has developed a creaminess. Still a nice wine but will check in on another bottle soon. (1464 views)
Tasted by Spencer on 1/30/2009 & rated 92 points: This wine is evolving beautifully. Balanced, with great acidity and minerality. Developing a creamy note which I sometimes don't care for, but works perfectly in this wine. Extremely long finish. Perhaps the best wine for the price that I've ever purchased. I wish subsequent vintages of this wine were as good. (1537 views)
Tasted by cweiss on 8/23/2007: Bracing acidity, drier than in its youth, just off dry now. May be somewhere between primary and secondary fruit flavors, as primary fruit mostly gone. Enjoyable and a good accompaniment to sauteed wild salmon. (1759 views)
Tasted by Spencer on 2/19/2005 & rated 92 points: Great wine, and value. Complex, balanced and long. This was even better the next day. It will be interesting to follow it's evolution. (2363 views)
Tasted by Rieslingfan on 8/11/2004 & rated 91 points: This QbA has not shut down. It's showing beatiful tropical and peach fruit flavors, vibrant acidity and excellent balance of sweetness. Really refreshing on a hot, humid summer day. Excellent value and head and shoulders above the '02 and especially '03 versions. (2289 views)
Tasted by cweiss on 9/1/2002: QUITE DELICIOUS. GOOD MINERALITY. SWEETER THAN KABS. (2172 views)

Weingut Josef Leitz Rüdesheimer Drachenstein Riesling Dragonstone

Extraordinarily aromatic, vigorous wines from a vintner who grows more commanding each vintage. This is the wine that once was called Rüdesheimer Drachenstein, and it’s the wine David Schildknecht said was the best Riesling value in the world, which is because Johannes sells it to us for much less than it’s worth. For a large-production wine this receives the same care in the vineyards and cellar that every Leitz wine receives.

#2014 Vintage Notes:
2014 Vintage Report by Terry Theise
2014 Vintage Report by Wine Spectator
"My gut still tells me the Saar (and to some extent) the Ruwer are better overall in 2014 than the more storied areas of the Mosel proper, but those that spent the requisite time living in their middle-Mosel vineyards made some of the most electric and "feathery" Riesling in a long time (maybe the finest in 20 years - yes, it's true!)" - Jon Rimmerman (Of course only a very short historical memory would call the Saar and Ruwer less 'storied' than the middle Mosel - jht)

Rheingau

VDP Rheingau (Official site) | The Rheingau (Wines of Germany) | Wikipedia about The Rheingau
On weinlagen.info

The small but fine wine-growing area Rheingau offers one for the culture of the vine ideal microclimate and best soil conditions. The Rhine runs uninterruptedly almost one thousand kilometres from Basel up to its muzzle into the North Sea, in a northerly direction. With a short exception - the Rheingau. The Rheingau mountains force the river to a change in direction here. The vineyards falling in this region to the south stretch really to the sun. The king of the white wines, the Riesling, finds ideal local conditions for the unfolding of his fine fruity and elegant type of vine character on the multilayered weathering grounds with loess, loam and sand additions.
