Community Tasting Notes (average 89.4 pts. and median of 89 pts. in 30 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by oncocyte on 2/23/2013 & rated 89 points: 1st bottle hopelessly flawed, corked or cooked despite simultaneous purchase with this btl. This is more of what I hoped for with some lemon pledge thing on the nose, lemon and something like guava on the palate and even a touch of minerality. Acid would've better balanced by more fruit, hence my score, but I bet a burg hound would go 94. (2121 views)
Tasted by Kjmcorrigan on 6/9/2012: Gift for Marcia (2672 views)
Tasted by arthrovine on 2/28/2012 & rated 88 points: Since previous note, a bit more minerality has emerged while a slight fade in acid. Still quite nice. (2719 views)
Tasted by westcoastwannabe on 7/2/2011 & rated 89 points: Nicely balanced chard with just a little oak to blend well with citrus fruit. Very nice nose and finish. (3039 views)
Tasted by MCUBEB on 6/4/2011 & rated 87 points: Nose of tropical fruit with notes of mango, pineapple and some apple on the plate. Finishes with notes of vanilla and oak. (3206 views)
Tasted by westcoastwannabe on 5/16/2011 & rated 89 points: Initially a little closed with strong butter profile. Fifteen minutes after opening, this chard became more balanced and complex. Excellent for the price. (1609 views)
Tasted by texaswino on 4/4/2011 & rated 92 points: very nice, delicious wine (1856 views)
Tasted by Beck on 4/3/2011 & rated 90 points: nas the brulee and the curd but doesn't have quite the citrus and finish of other of similar style. good bottle at the price. (1754 views)
Tasted by moxielady on 3/28/2011 & rated 95 points: Butter, earth, fruit, smoke and a balanced cream and acid mouth feel and finish. Delightful!! I really like this big oak style only when done well, this is done well! (1697 views)
Tasted by pgm on 1/11/2011 & rated 88 points: A nice Chardonnay, apple butter with a touch of citric brightness. (1862 views)
Tasted by InternationalWineReport on 11/20/2010 & rated 89 points: Peach, pear and nectarine give this a nice mix of flavors, with lively acidity, smooth texture, a touch of creamy oak on the long, lingering finish. (1987 views)
Tasted by DanSm on 6/29/2010 & rated 87 points: Somewhat disappointing for the price. (2251 views)
Tasted by winegr on 6/4/2010 & rated 90 points: I like this. A bit leaner than some, but balanced with nice citrus and some spicy pepper notes that are almost grassy. Like a CA chard with a bit of grassy Sauv Blanc thrown in. 89-90. (2354 views)
Tasted by JAT on 5/22/2010 & rated 90 points: Nice wine. Not the typical rich, oaky, Spragia style. More reserved. Citrus fruit with a hint of butter and vanilla. Nice backbone of acidity. Good Chardonnay for a warm summer evening. (2447 views)
Tasted by CV wine guy on 4/26/2010 & rated 90 points: Excellent CA Chard. (2556 views)
Tasted by arthrovine on 3/25/2010 & rated 90 points: very balanced. Oak is not overly dominant. Great wine. (2614 views)
Tasted by Drankthewholebottle on 2/28/2010 & rated 90 points: I generally hate chardonnay, but this is very drinkable. Think honeydew melon with just a touch of oak and slight mineral notes. Outstanding! (2585 views)
Tasted by herberto on 4/30/2009: This is a great wine at the price year after year, and the 2007 may be the best yet. Medium bodied, with pleasant richness and sweetness balanced by a nice lift of acidity. I wish more Chards costing 4x the price of this wine were this balanced. Not super concentrated, but a very pleasant little wine, and one of the few $20 Cali Chards that is really drinkable. (2869 views)
Tasted by branman1986 on 3/14/2009 & rated 88 points: Gobs of oak. Tasted like a Butter Rum Lifesaver. That being said, it was still very pleasurable to drink, since I like butter rum lifesavers...but might be too over the top for some people. (3007 views)
Tasted by dmlove18 on 3/7/2009 & rated 90 points: Full fruit, not as oaky as the Beringer Sbragia. Nice balance. (3108 views)
Tasted by herberto on 2/20/2009 & rated 88 points: Nice citrus notes but a little flabby. (2868 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
