| Community Tasting Notes (average 91.5 pts. and median of 91 pts. in 9 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by Stephen_Skelton_MW on 5/7/2016 & rated 95 points: Thought I would treat myself and opened my last bottle of this wine. Stunning from the first sip and got better as it opened up. Soft, full and very long with a huge depth of flavour. Tannins still there, but rounded and balanced. A great wine. (1302 views) | | Tasted by Paul D on 5/3/2013 & rated 88 points: No formal note. This had an intense and quite youthful classic sour red cherry flavour profile with a touch of spice, firm but refined tannins and lovely fresh acidity, and although well balanced and showing nice fruit purity, lacked complexity and a touch of length. More hedonistic than intellectual, but in an understated sort of way. There is a bit of savoury and tannic character missing to make this a true "serious" wine but serve this to friends with pasta and everyone will be asking for more. No point in cellaring this any longer, by the way... (2717 views) | | Tasted by Paul D on 2/4/2011: Alas borderline corked. (2579 views) | | Tasted by FastTrack on 6/27/2010 & rated 91 points: Nose of flowers, strawberries. Medium bodied, elegant, long finish. (2677 views) | | Tasted by FastTrack on 11/21/2009 & rated 91 points: Cherry and coffee tone in the nose. Entry in the mouth is agile and elegant, followed by a dynamic, well-sustained development that shows succulent, well-judged tannins; long finish. (2099 views) | | Tasted by Paul D on 4/12/2008 & rated 92 points: Medium/deep garnet core, medium pale garnet rim. Some chocolate and coffee oak on the nose but nice sour, pure red toned fruit too. Oak less noticeable on the palate, not much more than medium bodied with lovely sweet, pure red cherry and strawberry fruit, mocha, notes of sweet tea, fine tannins, and fresh acidity on a lovely lingering savoury finish. This really is excellent with lovely purity and elegance on the mid-palate. (1457 views) | | Tasted by Paul D on 3/4/2007 & rated 92 points: Decanted 1 hour. Deep ruby core, medium pale ruby rim. Dense, brooding with intense ripe sour black cherry, bitter mocha and coffee notes and even hints of tea. Deep, rich and savoury but also fresh and elegant with keen acidity and a lovely balanced, clean finish. Really excellent, starting to drink now, but should get even better. (1929 views) |
