| Community Tasting Notes (average 70.5 pts. and median of 70 pts. in 2 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by GuruofAV on 5/31/2010 & rated 60 points: Out of balance and bordering on nasty (2003 views) | | Tasted by gripNsip on 1/15/2009 & rated 81 points: Nice nose, fruity. Very, very light-bodied, the wine has a almost watered down feel. Fruity on the palate, plum and some dark fruit but reaaaaally uncomplex. I find the wine utterly boring. Good wine for the price my mom paid (6$) and if you can get it at this price, it's worth it. If you are a wine lover and looking for something interesting I would steer clear. (1999 views) |

Producer websiteMerlotMerlot is a dark blue–colored wine grape variety, that is used as both a blending grape and for varietal wines. The name Merlot is thought to be a diminutive of merle, the French name for the blackbird, probably a reference to the color of the grape. Its softness and "fleshiness", combined with its earlier ripening, makes Merlot a popular grape for blending with the sterner, later-ripening Cabernet Sauvignon, which tends to be higher in tannin.South Africa Wines of South AfricaSouth AfricaFranschoek Valley |
