Community Tasting Notes (average 88.4 pts. and median of 88 pts. in 53 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by BuckeyeBenS on 8/23/2022 & rated 85 points: Rusty red with lots of sediment. Stewed plums, black pepper, and cranberries on the nose. Maybe some dried herbs as well. On the palate, plums carry over and there are notes of cigars and clove-like spices. However, it wasn't really harmonious or delightful. Just present. To quote a salesman I met once, "Buy better stuff." Noted, sir. (242 views)
Tasted by Surfdoc on 11/17/2013 & rated 87 points: Eucalyptus, tar, blueberry skins and a rustic earthiness on the nose and palate. Medium body with slightly tart and short finish. (2976 views)
Tasted by no leashes on 9/17/2013 & rated 89 points: Very tasty cote du rhone. Cherry, pepper, spice and lavender, nicely balanced. Drinking nicely. (3090 views)
Tasted by Yankee on 2/10/2013 & rated 89 points: On the nose there's raisins & an oxidative note, dry hay bales, black currants & garrigue notes ~ On the palate it's weighty with well integrated tannins & flavors of soy sauce, blackberry, green pepper, black liquorice & a caramel note on the finish ~ Rustic style with nice balance & length (3469 views)
Tasted by talesofthegrape on 11/30/2011: - Crimsom color and aromas of tea, tobacco, black olive and mushroom and has flavours of strawberry, black pepper and smokey. (5239 views)

Tasted by cmr on 2/28/2011 & rated 90 points: Outstanding qpr. Well structured and balanced. Dark fruits with the Syrah taking center stage but perfectly blended and restrained with the other varietals. (3153 views)
Tasted by nzinkgraf on 2/2/2011: refreshing acidity. very stoney. lavender florals. rather glassy texture. a subtle pepper on the nose and the palate. generally polished and with foodie acidity. old world-y in its toned down fruiit profile. this wine helps me decide to start cooking dinner. 4 hours in this really opens up to a much sweeter profile on both the palate and the nose. blue fruits. frozen fleshy blue fruits. (3355 views)
Tasted by RussK on 12/12/2010 & rated 88 points: RUSSK GC Holiday Party at Yaffe. Mid- tier. Nice nose. Could have more sweetness. Bitter finish. (3078 views)
Tasted by Surfdoc on 10/29/2010 & rated 87 points: Tart black berry, white pepper, and woody flavors. Lacking smoothness and finish. (3197 views)
Tasted by slywka7 on 10/24/2010 & rated 88 points: Very earthy with decent fruit but made in a very classic style. (613 views)
Tasted by dmalcolm on 8/28/2010 & rated 89 points: Consistant with previous bottles. Great QPR. (3466 views)
Tasted by dmalcolm on 8/13/2010 & rated 89 points: Medium bodied with great freshness. Drank over the course of several hours, and this improved as it opened up. Smooth flavours of cherries, berries, and lavender combined with some peppery underbrush. (3562 views)

Tasted by dmalcolm on 8/7/2010 & rated 88 points: TASTY. Dark berry fruit, pepper and spices. Paired nicely with roasted chicken and potatoes. Great QPR (3587 views)

Tasted by rrdoucet on 5/23/2010 & rated 88 points: Great on day one. Rustic. A little salty on day two. (4004 views)
Tasted by Villon on 4/16/2010 & rated 88 points: Très beau vin, équilibré, fruité succulent. (4049 views)
Tasted by cmr on 3/7/2010 & rated 88 points: This bottle seemed a little bit tarter or acidic then previous bottles. Syrah really taking center stage more forcefully also. Dark fruits, garrigue earthiness but still quite enjoyable but needs food to shine. (4139 views)
Tasted by HenryW on 1/16/2010 & rated 91 points: Some mild funk on the nose. Also notes of lavender, vanilla, smoke, coffee. Dark-fruited palate with a hint of graphite. Refreshing acidity. (4331 views)
Tasted by pot20 on 12/23/2009: Très agréable nez de fruits noirs et d'épices, une bouche ample et coulante. Une longeur respectable pour le prix. Avec un magret de canard...Parfait. (4469 views)
Tasted by Vinacull on 12/23/2009 & rated 88 points: Respi-Aerate to decanter. Color cherry red with black and purple hues, full body. Very interesting bouquet of dried flower melange (rose, lilac, lavender), crushed walnuts, gamey venison, blackberry and huckleberry. Big front-loaded savory flavors on the attack with coffee, blood, minerals, and blackberries underneath, transitioning to major league garrigue in the mid and finish. The finish also turns fruitier with red and black currants, some licorice, and minerals in the aftertaste. Medium-low acid, medium tannins giving a noticeable structure. Despite the big attack and presence in the mouth, the length seems relatively short. However, excellent aromas and flavors overall. Many might prefer this more with food, but for me it was compelling by itself. Very good value at $13, and worth repeating. (4355 views)
(4482 views)
Tasted by cmr on 10/27/2009 & rated 89 points: Step down from other bottles but may have been my palate that night also. Still excellent though. (4297 views)
