| Community Tasting Notes (average 90.6 pts. and median of 91 pts. in 9 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by David J Cooper on 3/1/2019 & rated 91 points: Clear light yellow. Hints of business, old furniture, lemon and white flowers. After a few minutes the fruit comes a bit more to the fore as the ox blows off. Very dry thinning citrus flavours and a dry finish. (1444 views) | | Tasted by rjonwine@gmail.com on 5/18/2015 & rated 95 points: Light medium yellow color; aromatic, baked pear, lemon custard, toast, lemon marmalade, almond, safflower oil nose; rich, delicious, oily textured, tart orange cream, orange marmalade, almond palate with medium acidity; should go 35-plus years; long finish (11% alcohol; pH 2.68; TA 8.4 g/L) 95+ points (587 views) | | Tasted by bacchus of knockholt on 8/8/2013 & rated 87 points: Pale. Nose is slightly oxidative, pistachio ice cream initially and, as someone else observed, freshly pressed plastic! Slightly fresher and muted after time in glass. On the palate quite rich, medium bodied, crunchy apricot, crab apple, pomegranate and a slight cream soda finish. Interesting wine, complex with lots going on. (2124 views) | | Tasted by bendid on 6/17/2012 & rated 92 points: Lovely aged characters starting to appear, nuts and honey, over what is essentially a young, fresh, age worthy wine. Lemon and pear, with touch of apple, line of acid cleaning up. Bottles in this condition have many fine years ahead. (2929 views) | | Tasted by MattTM on 5/14/2011: Decanted for 3 hours. Very interesting nose, dominated by the aroma of freshly pressed plastic, along with some honey, minerals, and pear. More plastic on the oily palate, as well as tart lemon and stewed red apple. Short finish, with medium acidity. Not much depth to this, quite one dimensional. My first time trying this wine, I'm going to have to assume this bottle was flawed based on the notes of others. (3106 views) | | Tasted by winot on 2/26/2011 & rated 93 points: Fresh, nutty/honeysuckle nose, but palate features searing acidity. I knew it was too early, but I wanted to test it for potential. It wasn't too early, it was WAY too early. This will be extraordinary, but only after 10 years or more in the cellar. Score is based on potential - it is borderline undrinkable at present. (2584 views) | | Tasted by Bearbus on 10/28/2010: pale lemon yellow, looks younger utterly different nose: more woodsy (I don't mean oak), fresh and vibrant / youthful, unyielding, lemon fresh, woodsy, austere finish, not very giving, dissappointing and not really interested in drinking (187 views) | | Tasted by Avid Wino on 9/27/2010 & rated 87 points: First night: Honeysuckle aromas, bitter lemon palate, spritzy, leading to mineral and almost harshly acidic long finish. Second night: Had calmed down a bit, quite delicate palate, citrus and more honeysuckle, no spritz. Bottom half of cork was very soggy, so perhaps not the best example of this wine. (2210 views) |
