Tasted by studleytrey on 10/23/2023 & rated 91 points: Cork crumbled on extraction, but the wine inside seems fine. Definitely mellowed since my only other (half) bottle from 2015, unsurprisingly. Medium (+) ruby to garnet. Smells like dark fruits, potpourri, cedar, dry leaves, black tea, lemon, orange peel. Nice. Light to medium body, medium acid and finish, with flavors of red and black fruits, lemon, orange, spice, and minerals. Interesting to have tracked this one at a couple of points and see the difference; I prefer this one, though I suspect this is too tired for many. (219 views)
Tasted by Frankb3 on 5/20/2022: Tasted past it’s prime. (781 views)
Tasted by plotgolf on 6/28/2020 & rated 97 points: Still can lay down for 8-10 years. (1704 views)
Tasted by LotusD on 1/14/2020 & rated 94 points: Taste of vanilla , chocolate (1942 views)
Tasted by kkleg on 10/13/2019 & rated 91 points: This has gone a bit downhill from my last bottle. Cedar and eucalyptus on the nose. Fruit dominates the palate, along with some cedar. This grows more astringent the longer it’s open, so I suggest a pop and pour. Don’t decant. (2027 views)
Tasted by kkleg on 1/4/2019 & rated 94 points: Decanted to remove (quite a bit of) sediment. Beautiful color, with just the slightest hint of browning. Black cherry, menthol, and cedar nose. The palate shows leather, black cherry, and cedar, with some subtle graphite notes. Perfect balance and blend of five varietals.

This should hold for 2-3 years at least. I don’t know if it will improve much, but it’s so delicious now, I wouldn’t bother waiting. (2249 views)
Tasted by mdkraft99 on 10/12/2018 & rated 93 points: Delicious, big Bordeaux blend, flavors consistent with other tasting notes - dark fruits, pepper, a little leather, oak, medium finish, thought it would be fading but definitely still has life, excellent (2146 views)
Tasted by Sheldog on 7/28/2018 & rated 92 points: Black cherry nose. Beautifully aged and maybe a couple more good years if you have cellared properly. Nice acidity still which is keeping it drinking well. Dark fruit on the front with a dusty, chalky finish with a strong, spicy, herbal finish. Nice long finish where you can just close your eyes and enjoy. (1704 views)
Tasted by RossiRosso on 1/1/2017 & rated 93 points: Opened to get the new year off to a good start. Lots of dark fruit on the nose (plum, dark cherry). Toasty with vanilla undertones at first taste. Fairly long finish that brings out dried fruit (more plum, fig). Drinking well, but at 10 yrs still has time to hang out. (3087 views)
Tasted by epharmacist on 12/31/2016 & rated 93 points: Delicious! (2801 views)
Tasted by bacchus on 12/23/2016 & rated 92 points: shared with pat at selkirk manor to celebrate the end of the work week and to start getting into the christmas spirit. PnP this half bottle with some trepidation. the wine has earned high scores but with quite varying opinions regarding its state of maturity and potential longevity. this bottle was spectacular. could not ask for more from a california bordeaux blend. rivals cult bottlings at twice the price. dark color. sugar and spice on the nose. more sweet fruit in the mouth. well structured. lingering finish. glad to have enjoyed now. however, those still holding bottles would not go wrong by allowing it to develop further over the next year or two. kudos to LBW. you finally delivered the WOW wine i have been waiting for. and, at a very attractive price. i should have bought more. will definitely grab more recent vintages when offered. (2434 views)
Tasted by krhaugh on 12/23/2016 & rated 96 points: Decanted about 1 hour. It had been almost 2 years since I last had this vintage. Based upon other reviews, I expected this to be close to the end of the drinking window. Wow, was I wrong. 50% Cab Sauv but all the elements of a hearty, big Cab. Pepper and spice with huge fruit. This was an awesome wine and probably still had some bottle time left but I enjoyed this a great deal. If you dare, you won't be sorry you drank this up. Yummy! (2440 views)
Tasted by tcarter on 10/2/2016 & rated 92 points: Still in a solid drinking window. (2746 views)
Tasted by crimptacular on 9/25/2016 & rated 92 points: - Crimsom color. (1427 views)
Tasted by jongeld on 9/27/2015 & rated 92 points: Lighter than expected. Nice fruit. Tannins were gone. Very much ready to drink now. (3148 views)
Tasted by asplatt19 on 8/24/2015 & rated 92 points: Drinking well now (2855 views)
Tasted by Steve&Carolyn on 7/10/2015 & rated 91 points: Beautiful rich color, deep dark garnet. Wonderfully fragrant with seriously big black fruits, violets, leather, black cherries, blackberries with a slight cocoa and spice taste. It has a medium-long finish and nice complexity. Fantastic with Italian food. It really complements the flavors of basil and tomatoes. There is a fair amount of sediment so decanting this one next time might be a good idea. (2883 views)
Tasted by studleytrey on 5/3/2015 & rated 90 points: New world bomb style Bdx blend from CA. Dark fruits galore explode from the glass on nose and palate, along with vanilla and oak spice. This gets better as it's open longer (only tracked this half-bottle for a few hours), with some tar and mushroom coming in, and dark and blue fruit shifting to red. Give the next one a few years; I think it's gonna get better. (3023 views)
Tasted by alohaboys on 3/1/2015 & rated 89 points: Cork crumbled upon opening (seems to be a theme as of late with lastbottle.com purchases). After straining quite typical of Miner wines, holding up well. (3304 views)
Tasted by brigcampbell on 2/14/2015 & rated 90 points: Decant for an hour. Deep color, still looking young as ever. Dark plum and cassis aroma and flavor. Lots of structure still here, long cellar life ahead for this one. Medium finish. (2161 views)
Tasted by Mjurgaitis on 1/16/2015 & rated 93 points: Half bottle. Drank over a 2 hour period and it kept getting better. Very well made bottle of wine. (2216 views)
Tasted by tcarter on 1/15/2015 & rated 91 points: Better after about 45-60 mins of breathing. (2049 views)
Tasted by krhaugh on 1/9/2015 & rated 94 points: Decanted about 2 hours. Drinking extremely well. Big, deep red fruit with leather, pepper and earth. Certainly drinks like there is more than 50% Cab in this beautiful bottle. I am really glad I have one more of these, but a little sad I don't have more. (1802 views)
Tasted by Bob in NC on 12/27/2014 & rated 90 points: Decanted 2 hours. Very smooth and approachable to the point of being a bit thin. Didn't have the layers of flavors as some Oracles but still quite tasty overall. (1591 views)
Tasted by rkosd on 11/18/2014: Ready to drink, the wine is a medium-minus bodied Bordeaux blend. Not much fruit on this one, but black and dark purple fruits are present. They come in after the cigar box and cedar notes, with just the right amount of tannin showing through on the finish. Light on the palette but still a good wine. (2039 views)

Miner Family The Oracle

The Oracle is an exceptionally balanced, full-bodied red blend made from grapes grown at Stagecoach Vineyard in the eastern hills of Napa Valley.
In Greek mythology, the oracle was a source of inspiration and revelation. We hope that you will find the answers to life’s most compelling questions while enjoying The Oracle with friends and family.

Red Bordeaux Blend

Red Bordeaux is generally made from a blend of grapes. Permitted grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and rarely Carménère.Today Carménère is rarely used, with Château Clerc Milon, a fifth growth Bordeaux, being one of the few to still retain Carménère vines. As of July 2019, Bordeaux wineries authorized the use of four new red grapes to combat temperature increases in Bordeaux. These newly approved grapes are Marselan, Touriga Nacional, Castets, and Arinarnoa.

Wineries all over the world aspire to making wines in a Bordeaux style. In 1988, a group of American vintners formed The Meritage Association to identify wines made in this way. Although most Meritage wines come from California, there are members of the Meritage Association in 18 states and five other countries, including Argentina, Australia, Canada, Israel, and Mexico.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
