Tasted by ikkaariainen on 6/1/2011 & rated 87 points: Overall a nice wine, very smooth but somewhat nondescript, well constructed but nothing truly remarkable or memorable about it. A good QPR wine, one of our regular daily drinkers. Bottle open for about 3 hours but not decanted. Very dark purple, acid / fruit / tannins all present and well balanced. Nose soft with some lead pencil, dark fruit and a hint of black pepper, flavors include terroir / dirt, red fruit and plum. At this price point definitely recommend this wine but it is in the daily drinker category and meant to be drunk soon, this is not a long term keeper. (2799 views)

Red Rhone Blend

Read about the different grapes used to produce red and white Rhone wines
On CellarTracker, Red Rhone Blend is the term for a wine consisting of two or more of the traditional 13 Southern Rhone grape varieties. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.

A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce.
