A good QPR wine, one of our regular daily drinkers. Bottle open for about 3 hours but not decanted. Very dark purple, acid / fruit / tannins all present and well balanced. Nose soft with some lead pencil, dark fruit and a hint of black pepper, flavors include terroir / dirt, red fruit and plum. At this price point definitely recommend this wine but it is in the daily drinker category and meant to be drunk soon, this is not a long term keeper. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.
A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine.
