Tasted by Stanrocks on 11/19/2021 & rated 89 points: Chassagne/ Puligny tasting for customers

A bit old, nose of med intensity, with a golden color, caramel, old bee wax, on the verge of aging too much...

palate is stilll vibrant and has great power, it has length and just needed to be drank earlier... pairing well with food... aromas of caramel, cooked butter, etc...

3 years from now would have been way better I believe (354 views)
Tasted by Burgundy Al on 5/31/2015: From 375 ml bottle. This was my last from a 1/2 case bought at release. Mature orchard fruit on nose and palate with some sweet background spice. Best when first opened and poured, less interesting later. White 375s shouldn't be kept this long. (2050 views)
Tasted by Burgundy Al on 11/16/2013 flawed bottle: From 375. Drinkable, but somewhat prematurely oxidized. Revisited multiple times over approx two hours. Worse each time . (2378 views)
Tasted by Burgundy Al on 3/29/2013 & rated 88 points: From 375. Apple and pear aromas with spice hints. Simiar on palate. Not very ripe but good concentration for a Villages wine and overall good balance. This seems to have picked up some weight since I last tried this wine shortly after release. (2589 views)
Tasted by Winelover84 on 3/3/2013: Short note from the top of my head! Transparent, lively wine with good balance and nice acidity. Decanted for 3 hours and it nedded it. Good wine from a great producer! (2265 views)
Tasted by MatthewF on 8/16/2012: From 375ml. Bottle showed much more advanced than I would have expected. Slightly honeyed yellow citrus and apple/pear notes. Good density on the palate, but showing a richer, more mature White Burg character. It still had the typical 08 acidity on the finish, but not at all what it should be. I've got a few more left and am hoping they show as I remember the first few did. (2459 views)
Tasted by wickedwax on 6/24/2012 flawed bottle: Another dead half bottle. Able to exchange for a 2007 half, hopefully I'll have better luck. (1578 views)
Tasted by wickedwax on 5/8/2012 flawed bottle: Another oxidized 375ml. Exchanged again and will try again. (1252 views)
Tasted by wickedwax on 4/22/2012 flawed bottle: From 375ml bottle. Oxidized -- obviously this problem hasn't been solved yet. Luckily got to exchange it for another and will try again some time. (1033 views)
 Tasted by adastra on 1/23/2012 & rated 82 points: $26.99 (1237 views)
Tasted by drwine2001 on 1/23/2012 flawed bottle: Half bottle. Whoops-dark, dull, oxidized. (1372 views)
Tasted by alanr on 1/19/2012 & rated 90 points: Archetypal Chassagne, with controlled depth, rounded intensity, mellow but not lacking strength, touches of citrus tartness, nice finish, a little bit of wood. A smooth and seamless wine, very young but easy to keep drinking. Nice. (1464 views)
Tasted by wickedwax on 1/17/2012: Tasted from 375ml bottle. Aromas of orchard fruit, citrus, white flowers, Ramonet mintiness and minerality. Quite young but enjoyable with depth and concentration above what you would expect from a village wine. Good acidity to keep it fresh and focused with very good length showing plenty of minerality. (1170 views)
Tasted by Burgundy Al on 9/20/2011 & rated 88 points: Big, broad fruit aromas show apple and pear. Same orchard fruit on palate, somewhat lean and tart, not particularly ripe, but fruit is accompanied by super acidity and minerality for a Villages level wine. Lots of energy on the finish. I'd like to see more fruit or spice at the end but hope this will come shortly with some more bottle age. From 375 ml. (1393 views)
Tasted by Pacalet on 7/4/2011 & rated 89 points: Lemony nose with slight butter, palate pretty much mirrors the nose, very balanced with just the right amount of fruit and acid. Elegant and very long mineral finish. An overachiever. (1408 views)
Tasted by salil on 4/24/2011 & rated 91 points: Fresh, pale pear and lemony fruit, smoky and creamy elements, minerals and a minty topnote combining on a medium weight frame with an incredibly polished, satiny texture. Very pure, refreshing and all too easy to drink. (1475 views)
Tasted by Burgundy Al on 4/6/2011 & rated 88 points: From 375 ml bottle. Lots of orchard fruit with an overall lean character. Very good length for its level, with moderate weight. Better in another year or two, but not many years beyond that. (674 views)
Tasted by pifcho on 4/3/2011 & rated 90 points: From a half at a lunch at Caveau des Arches in Beaune. Very delicate and light - quite unlike my previous Chassagne experiences. Dances on the tongue like a ballerina. Flowery and feminine. Touch of lime and a powerful but subtle mineral note. A bit of gentle oak. Gained depth after a couple of hours in the glass. Pretty wine and an expression of Chardonnay I like very much. 90+ (1517 views)
Tasted by lepetitchateau on 3/18/2011 & rated 92 points: In a word - minerals. This wine should be screamingly too young, but it isn't; it is just simply delicious right now. It has nice density and complexity (no matter what Allen says!) that is quite impressive for a village wine. But what is most impressive is the minerality, a strong component of the mid-palate and what one remembers the most 24 hours later. Worth rebuying. (1565 views)

Burgundy

Les vins de Bourgogne (Bureau interprofessionnel des vins de Bourgogne) (and in English)

Burgundy - The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay. (Small of amounts of Gamay and Aligoté are still grown, although these have to be labeled differently.) The most famous part of the region is known as the Cote d'Or (the Golden Slope). It is divided into the Cote de Beaune, south of the town of Beaune (famous principally for its whites), and the Cote de Nuits, North of Beaune (home of the most famous reds). In addition, the Cote Chalonnaise and the Maconnais are important wine growing regions, although historically a clear level (or more) below the Cote d'Or. Also included by some are the regions of Chablis and Auxerrois, farther north.

# 2013 Vintage Notes:
* "2013 is a vintage that 20 years ago would have been a disaster." - Will Lyons
* "low yields and highly variable reds, much better whites." - Bill Nanson
* "Virtually all wines were chaptalised, with a bit of sugar added before fermentation to increase the final alcohol level." - Jancis Robinson

# 2014 Vintage Notes:
"We have not had such splendid harvest weather for many years. This will ensure high quality (fragrant, classy and succulent are words already being used) across the board, up and down the hierarchy and well as consistently from south to north geographically apart from those vineyards ravaged by the hail at the end of June." - Clive Coates

# 2015 Vintage Notes:
"Low yields and warm weather allowed for ample ripeness, small berries and an early harvest. Quality is looking extremely fine, with some people whispering comparisons with the outstanding 2005 vintage. Acid levels in individual wines may be crucial." - Jancis Robinson

# 2017 Vintage Notes:
"Chablis suffered greatly from frost in 2017, resulting in very reduced volumes. As ever, the irony seems to be that what remains is very good quality, as it is in the Côte d’Or. Cooler nights across the region have resulted in higher-than-usual acidity, with good conditions throughout the harvest season allowing for ripe, healthy fruit." - Jancis Robinson

# 2018 Vintage Notes:
"The most successful region for red Burgundy in 2018 was the Côte de Beaune. The weather was ideal in this area, with just enough sunlight and rain to produce perfectly balanced wines naturally." - Vinfolio
