Tasted by NickA on 7/14/2021 & rated 92 points: Tuscany at Terra Rossa (Terra Rossa): I really liked this. Probably just past peak for my taste, but the savoury quality it had, particularly noticeable on the palate, made a nice counterpoint to the slightly younger wines tonight. Retained lots of lovely forest fruits too - extremely food-friendly, and quite sophisticated given its level.

Incidentally, interesting to note that c. 70 of the 83 TNs for this wine date from before 2015. Don't drink up so quickly, guys! (1284 views)
Tasted by fussyeater on 7/14/2021 & rated 93 points: Very appetising and classic nose. Nicely resolved but not yet in decline. Restrained and savoury still with sufficient fresh acidity. Not the last word on complexity, yet this wine is all about supreme balance and is very satisfying and quaffable. (1160 views)
Tasted by RD59 on 5/24/2020 & rated 89 points: Typical Chianti Classico, cherry, with the fruit fading, the oak, vanilla a little more present but just fine. Ready to no need to wait any longer. Not great, just pleasant (1185 views)
Tasted by trepak on 1/17/2017 & rated 93 points: Quite rich on the nose, but with a good clear cherry note, very Italian. On the palate, very smooth initial entry, a lovely acidic core, cherry, a hint of oak rounds it out nicely with a decent amount of tannin on a good length finish. A very good example of classical Chianti, all that is good about Italian wine, so food friendly, but also very drinkable on its own. (2937 views)
Tasted by bevetroppo on 9/25/2015 & rated 88 points: According to the nifty app "When Wine," we're on a flower day that is propitious for consumption of biodynamic wines. So far so good.

I was a little surprised by the darker than expected color and the initially thick and slightly ponderous nose. So I decided to wait for at least an hour before recording additional impressions. This turned out to be a good move. There are deep cherry fruit aromas framed by leathery notes and hints of fennel bulb. Medium bodied with a bold wash across the palate ending in a rich, expansive finish, though slightly hot.

I'm not in love with this, since it's denser and despite the labeled 13.5%, seemingly more alcoholic than I like in a Classico, but it's certainly not hard to drink. And I can't even blame it on a root day. (4548 views)
Tasted by Wuhan Joe on 9/7/2015 & rated 86 points: Cherries and licorice notes, slightly oaked and mineral. Medium bodied, elegant with fine tanins and good length. (3713 views)
Tasted by mikec42 on 5/20/2015 & rated 90 points: This is a very smooth and delicious wine. Great with pasta and meat sauce. (3998 views)
Tasted by mikec42 on 2/10/2015 & rated 90 points: Absolutely exquisite. Drinking very nicely. (4125 views)
Tasted by Mascarello59 on 12/22/2014 & rated 88 points: Notes from memory. Nose of cherries and raspberry. Soft tannins and medium body. Good balance. Better than expected but nothing to save for much longer. Drink up. (3097 views)
Tasted by Lilja on 12/21/2014 & rated 88 points: No doubt about this being Italian. Lots of cherries, some funk, chocolate and a little wood. High acidity with a slender body, good fruit and intensity and a dry, medium finish. Some seedy tannins gives it a nice structure. Good quality, but I wouldn't wait to long if I had any of this in my cellar. Not enough intensity for the long road. (2146 views)
Tasted by rwpalmer on 11/15/2014 & rated 87 points: Limpid, a little browning, but mostly a glossy but not suitably mid-deep red-purple colour. Nose of bitter cherries. and sandalwood (?). Very light palate. Athletic but maybe relying a little too much on its highish acidity as there isn't any great concentration of fruit. Maybe best around 2018. (1907 views)
Tasted by ManhattanBeach on 11/12/2014 & rated 89 points: Sweet fruit, leather, spice, cedar, soft tannins, limpid. A little age has softened the acidity while leaving an appealing freshness. In a good place right now. (1760 views)
Tasted by Jeffyboy on 10/25/2014: bit cloudy colour. nose: matured. sweet, jammy,. taste; bit bitter, cherries with stones. On the way down. (1648 views)
Tasted by Rickets on 8/16/2014 & rated 84 points: Just ok (1745 views)
Tasted by vinum bonum on 6/20/2014: Trčs bon, avec en particulier des tanins fins et trčs lisses. Une belle bouteille, qui aurait pu encore tenir mais qui était trčs buvable ā ce stade. (2027 views)
Tasted by _Xenon on 5/4/2014 & rated 89 points: Typical Chianti Classico. Expressive nose, however a bit raw. Missing elegance on the palate. Good every day drinking wine. (2223 views)
Tasted by Richard123 on 4/14/2014: This one had a hint of oxidation about it. It was drinkable, but I suspect a month or two away from being completely flawed. (2173 views)
Tasted by Svenssonsmakaren on 3/31/2014 & rated 88 points: Begynnande mognad men fortfarande en pigg rackare. Sömnlöst, snyggt och välgjord. Kan gott vänta på nästa. (2597 views)
Tasted by NostraBacchus on 12/3/2013 & rated 90 points: Medium ruby/garnet color. Nice nose of red fruit (sweet cherries, strawberries), some minerals and a touch of leather. On the palate there are notes of sweet red fruit again, some sweet spices and a touch of balsamic notes. It has a medium body and medium acidity as well as medium tannin that has a touch of dryness. Good long finish. A very beautiful Chianti Classico that is all about finesse and elegance. (3356 views)
Tasted by Jeffyboy on 10/18/2013 & rated 90 points: Just at ths best moment. Colour - great, cherry superclear, would not repeat myself. Nose: warm, ripe cherries, bit sweet, very clean with no distortinos. Taste: beautiful cherries, tannins almost integrated, elegant, balsamic - only some roughness in the finish. (2906 views)
Tasted by markellen.foodies@gmail.com on 9/28/2013 & rated 92 points: @ 9 Park, Boston. One of few reasonably priced wines on the Restaurant's extensive list. Delicious Chianti, as good as it gets. Memories of Greve heightened the experience. (2636 views)
Tasted by ManhattanBeach on 7/3/2013: First impression on the nose was a little hot/alcoholic, but settled almost immediately into a very nice smooth Chianti Classico. Soft texture, silky tannins and not-too-aggressive acidity, while in no way boring or uninteresting. Went very well with spaghetti bolognese. (3203 views)
Tasted by Richard123 on 5/26/2013 & rated 90 points: A little tart at first, but opened up nicely into a well-rounded easy-drinking Chianti Classico. Dark cherry, nice spices, medium tannin. Excellent. (3419 views)
Tasted by Herschel Krustofski on 4/9/2013 & rated 91 points: Decanted and sampled over 3 hours. I don't think it requires a long decant. Best results in the first 90 minutes actually. Though the texture is more satisfying in the 3rd hour, the nose if more subdued at this point.
Having tried this on release a couple of years ago I didn't expect too much, but the extra 2 years really did make a difference. Very impressive nose, black cherries dominate, more mature than one would guess. Palate a bit thinner (otherwise, I would have rated it higher) in the first 90 minutes.
This is ready now, but I suspect it will peak in 2014-5. (3164 views)
Tasted by Mingestrom on 12/29/2012 & rated 89 points: Oak and red fruit on the nose, mostly cherries. well balanced with tannins and red fruit ,tobaco as well as herbs on the palate. will need some time to open up but great finish with plums and cherries. A very good Chianti (3297 views)

Sangiovese Blend

Sangiovese blend is used in CellarTracker for Italian wines to represent wines predominantly made of Sangiovese and blended with traditional Italian grapes. It is different than SuperTuscan which is a blend of Sangiovese with non-traditional (eg Bordeaux) varieties, often in closer to equal portions. For example, Chianti is at least 80% Sangiovese and will always be listed Sangiovese blend.
