Tasted by HappyWineGuy on 5/12/2015: This is over the hill, shouldn't have waited on it. (2049 views)
Tasted by Casa Stivelli on 9/11/2014 & rated 87 points: Beautiful nose and color. Paired very well with Greek food. Not jammy (2355 views)
Tasted by Wino Laurie on 7/28/2014 & rated 91 points: This wine has improved greatly during Cellaring. Lush dark fruit, but not overly jammy. Showed good balance and paired well with beef tenderloin. (2346 views)
Tasted by Acohen on 1/19/2014 & rated 89 points: Very floral with dark fruit, lighter profile and slight spice on finish (2669 views)
Tasted by Meerlust on 9/5/2013 & rated 88 points: Ruby red color with pink rim. The nose when opened, was packed with dark cherry and some prune notes. With air, it seemed to pick up some mint and chocolate notes before making its way back to dark fruit. The flavor profile is packed with ripe, dark cherry and prunes as well as the aforementioned mint chocolate notes. Structurally, this has adequate acidity and minimal tannins. The finish has moderate length and highlights the dark fruit and chocolate notes. Overall, this wine is good but probably displays too much mint and chocolate for my palate. (2950 views)
Tasted by joet626 on 8/17/2013 & rated 89 points: Very smooth. Muted fruit but a nice sipper. Liked it. (1302 views)
Tasted by CelebrateLife! on 4/20/2013 & rated 91 points: Excellent balance. Well made wine with jammy fruit and long finish (1447 views)
Tasted by skp88 on 7/14/2012 & rated 88 points: Overdone with the fruit and unbalanced but still enjoyable (1883 views)
Tasted by drycab on 3/17/2012: Same notes as before. (1828 views)
Tasted by annanyc on 12/22/2011 & rated 92 points: Full, complex berry with a light, toasted woody nose. Used to Ridge Zin's and this is delightfully different. Rich variety of berries with each taste and slight pepper on the finish. Highly recommend as a good wine to just enjoy solo or with a variety of cheeses to enhance the palette. Very nice blend and a highly recommended Zin. No wonder I loved it at tasting! Glad I purchased more than one bottle! (1823 views)
Tasted by Jdubb on 6/19/2011 & rated 90 points: So good I had to buy a bottle at a tasting. Nice Zin (2132 views)
Tasted by drycab on 5/5/2011: Popped and poured with fish and duck at our friends restaurant. It was a nice bottle, not too heavy and still fruity enough to qualify as a zin! Bought this as a "lighter" example and it fills that bill nicely. It didn't overpower the fish and held up to the duck. (1867 views)
Tasted by Russ P on 3/9/2011 & rated 93 points: Balanced fruit, easy to enjoy with cheese, spicy meats. (1794 views)
Tasted by jonloftur on 9/23/2010 & rated 95 points: Litur: Ljóst í katninn með fjólurönd
Lykt: Fjóla, sæta, bláberjasaft
Bragð: Vanilla, bláber, kryddað, stemma, brjóstsykur, rammt.

Kraftmkið en samt mjúkt. Magnað vín. (2338 views)

2008 Benovia Zinfandel Sonoma County

Winemaker's Tasting Notes: This wine exhibits lively aromas of vine-ripened blackberries and kirsch liquor. On the palate the wine’s exuberant fruit is balanced centered acidity building with fruit through the mid-palate to the luscious tannin and a long finish. To preserve the opulent mouthfeel this wine was bottled without fining or filtration. Winegrower Notes: Planted in 1975, this hillside vineyard is planted on a steep and rocky slope on our estate at the northern end of the Russian River Valley. We dry-farm these gnarled vines to produce small and compact clusters with incredible fruit intensity with bright acidity. After cluster sorting, destemming and berry sorting this wine was fermented using open-top fermentation. USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
