Community Tasting Notes (average 89 pts. and median of 90 pts. in 18 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by ellars on 7/6/2013: Floral notes, pears, bordering on syrup but remaining light enough to drink on it's own. Am amazing moscato that doesn't need effervescence to make a statement. A wonderful end to a wonderful dinner. (3456 views)
Tasted by Jecaamal on 4/5/2012 & rated 95 points: Excellent after dinner desert wine. Nice and sweet but not too overpowering. Notes of honey and apricot. (4578 views)
Tasted by AlphaL on 2/29/2012 & rated 90 points: We enjoyed this as a desert wine paired with several cheeses at the end of a Chaîne des Rôtisseurs dinner. It was fairly sweet and reminded me a little of an ice wine. The nose was very nice with tree fruit like Apricot, Peach and Nectarine. It was very pleasant through mid palate and the finish was nice, but not long, but it’s been said more than once that if it is good through the finish, and the finish is short than you want another pour. (4518 views)
Tasted by jedly on 1/1/2012 & rated 92 points: The only reason I don't rate this higher is that the finish is only a few seconds long. If this wine had a finish that equaled its nose and initial burst of dessert fruit, this would be a 96 point wine. Perfect for what it is. A delightful sipper for anyone that does not care for "dry" sparkling wines. Sweet, but not cloying. It is not a bubbly, but the hint of sparkling is there. Gives it a nose tickling kick at first sip. One of my go to dessert wines. Good by itself or with cheese and fruit. (4906 views)
Tasted by Nojomoschwa on 11/5/2011 & rated 84 points: Tasted distinctly of nectarine. It was pleasant but nothing more. Note also that there are no bubbles. (5207 views)
Tasted by Mr.Razzamatazz on 8/27/2011 & rated 84 points: Had a sparkling quality to it not extremely sweet. (2028 views)
Tasted by River Rat on 7/19/2011 & rated 86 points: meh... decent but lacking acidity, and bubbles. Like previously noted you can get a better Moscato d'Asti in a 750ml for less than this 375. I gave it a shot. (1836 views)
Tasted by ews3 on 5/7/2011 & rated 91 points: 2011 Philadelphia Wine Festival (Marriott, Philadelphia PA): impressive acidity for this kept it fresh with a nice tingle. (4561 views)
Tasted by Benj on 12/28/2010 & rated 85 points: Why? For this price you can get beautiful Moscato d'Asti. Stylewise, this is quite floral, less peachy, a little lychee. Not enough acidity to really be a major player. (2043 views)

Muscat Canelli

Varietal character (Appellation America)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
